Alaska does not have much oil, and America is not short of oil. There is no shortage, there is just bull trading that is putting up the prices. And, most importantly the dollar is not worth as much dur to Republican policies, and so it doesn't buy as much oil. THAT is the main reason for the price. Not that there is a shortage of oil. The dollar has gone down.

It's actually not that hard to find solutions to most problems. Sure, there is a range, a small range, but most of it is common sense. And people with common sense don't mind a little compromise as long as its still within the realm of common sense. But most politicians are just bought off and keep bitching at each other.
Also: Suspend all futures trading on oil, regulate the domestic distribution of gas to prevent gouging., remove the ethanol mandate.(it was a scam from the start!) Yes, people, talk about supply and demand, but that is pure BS. The only thing that determines price is the estimation of how much we have in our wallets. And oh yes, the oil/gas marketers do believe our wallets are theirs. Nationalize those companies that can't cooperate, and incarcerate sitting board directors!

Half the problem is what you described and the other half is the way Congress is run. They must hold a vote for EVERYTHING. Even to begin talking about bills they must vote. They also don't do any compromising once they get to the floor, all compromising must be done outside of the floor. Once it gets to the floor it is either Yes or No. So if you liked 98% of the bill but the other 2% you didn't like you vote "No" so it doesn't pass. It also takes years for anything to get that far.
Sometimes I think that republicans can be more open-minded, but thats not always the case. Most of the times it seems to be the democrats that are more closed minded on issues. At least McCain and Clinton are TRYING to do something whole Obama's not.
Maybe you need to take notes on all of their speeches. At the end, your not going to have any notes still. Years of talk not one viable answer. And thats for all of them.

Drill for the oil in Alaska, lower/stabilize the gas prices, support our economy, and lessen our dependence on foreign oil... all at once!!
In the meantime we'll search for alternate energy sources.
