@gmackie91 When I see a school production, I prefer to see an original idea as opposed to a rehash of Fosse. For me, this was awful close to the original.
My sisters' high school just performed this play. I have to say I preferred theirs better, but this version is pretty good. Isn't Theo supposed to be a boy??
I guess that's another one of the roles of which the gender can be flipped around, just like the leading player. My little brother got to play Theo. Also, just one comment, wouldn't Pippin not be smiling and clapping at any point in this scene since they was to kill him... Then again, the leading player is supposed to be the devil after all
actually he could be clapping cause, yes their trying to kill him, but their tricking him in to thinking it's a good idea. so with him clapping it shows that he's sort of getting to him. so yea
This is my preferred ending... When I saw it the players used white gloves and they glowed with the blacklight...So when Theo/a sang at the end all you saw where glowing hands coming out of the curtains, reaching for her. It left me speechless. This is a great version of Pippin!
One of the best clips of Pippin I have seen, along with Magic to Do. Great leading player-- which is a DIFFICULT role requiring a broad vocal range! Would love to see the whole play!
It's funny, because I'm playing 1st violin in the production that my school is doing (and in fact opening night was yesterday), and I know how it goes completely.
Your L/P is a bit vocally hyper, though, and he doesn't seem to be pissed off the way he should by the time he's all 'Get your god damn hands off the keyboard!' Eh.
At least your Theo is a real child as opposed to a sophmore in high school who has to transpose the part down an octave. And Catherine is pretty hot, too.
@fluterbrd1 Think of it as snuff film, only snuff theatre. A real death on stage means huge publicity! That's why there's the line "think about the word of mouth!".
i'm in it right now.........playing theo.....and we're doing it so much differently.....that's what i love about this show, everyone can do it so differently. it's a very strange show though! i love it.
XD Oh wow! You guys did such an amazing job with this! I'm in Pippin now (as a Player)and we're setting it between 1968 and 1972. ^^ The Theo (Thea?) is adorable!

This is actually my favorite of the non-professional versions of this song I've found online, it's the truest to Fosse's original concept.
I wonder if the other people who have been commenting recently have actually seen a Fosse production of Pippin...
Your leading player is fantastic, he made the role his own and still kept the energy Ben Vereen had.
The costuming is not quite how I would imagine, but the makeup makes up for the costuming. Congratulations and great job!

he claps because he gets caught up in the song, then remembers what the actors are trying to do. which is what happens to the audience.

our school is currently performing pippen. our lead player is less...happy. ours seems a lot more angry. this guy seems too happy for this scene.
idk. thats just my preference. but, still a great performance

Interesing cast... and costumes. I think you went a little underboard with the makeup.

and why do they want to kill him so much? I don't want to kill him. he seems nice! I'm not complaining about it, but I'm just confused.
fluterbrd1 4 years ago
lol -- you have to view it from the players cult view -- a human sacrifice will appease their god ;) odd - but makes good musical theatre

I'm confused. How would dieing give you power? It just makes you dead, in which you don't even have the power to watch Pippin on youtube.

He was just saying anything he could to get Pippin to off himself, for the glory of the finale.

The original ending of Pippin is he walks out with the girl and kid.

Great costumes & set! They could use a bigger stage, though that's not their fault. I missed Thea(?) carrying in the duck at the end.
