  • I'd love to get a bear hug from you. Sorry just had to say it

  • lee, i tried this drink today before my workout, tasted great, and had a great workout, thank you

  • i thought ur not meant to heat protein power

  • @hcytkr

If you look through my recent videos I actually made an updated video about this and covered some of the Frequently Asked Questions... Just search for "High Protein Coffee - Pre Workout Drink"

  • "I've got a tasty little protien treat for ya" lol. Great video btw!

  • i need to knw that this drink actually will give a rush . So i can work out harder

  • Great Idea with my morning coffee !

  • i'm naturally quite lean (skinny actually) i have quite good muscle definition but am trying to gain size i want to bulk up for the basketball season i am 6 ft 4 and only 16, will taking protein shakes damage my health? Just wondered because i'm so young! thankyou!

  • @TheMusica999

Whey protein is made from milk, so drinking whey protein shakes is just as safe as drinking milk.

  • @leemhayward

thankyou very much! by the way, lots of your other videos have been very helpful in the gym! thanks!

  • Can I use the blender to blend it?

  • @Ronaldinho0506

You could, but it's not needed, a spoon works fine for a small cup of coffee :-)

  • @leemhayward Wow. You're built. Awesome I want to be like that some day lol.

  • lol thank you for this can u try syntha 6 with this?

  • @EletmenticAzn

Any good quality protein powder will work. I actually made an updated version of this video with some "extra tips" to make the drink turn out better. Just search my recent videos.

  • hey hello sir im a 6.0 foot 223 17 year old and im trying to loos some fat and gain it i muscle i normaly take a protein shake after i work out and i take cratine before can i take a shake before and after ?

  • Geat drink I use and love it.

  • i b een lately drinking coffe before a work out i get a protein shake wait like 15 min take my creatine and glutimine and dhea think it is a gnc brand and then 30 min later eat grits with one slice cheese and drink cup coffe and then 30 min later or so workout and man i been having the best workouts lately im sticking with this for my pre workout and i just wake up and do this i take a show first and all that but man give it a try maybe it was just me i been resting alot more and only ttrain 4

  • @strongsick286 days a week for the last two months must be it also cause uswaslly i try workout every day nand over do this over do that but i also been keeping a eye on what lifts i leift im been make sure i change the lifts at least once a week the big lifts you know the sqquats or deadlifts and the bench but far as assastance stuff pretty much stay the same any ways give it a try

  • @strongsick286 oh note i am a natural lifter

  • Good idea but I just tend to stick with my Nitric Oxide. It saves me time while I'm heading to the gym...from work. I will try this coffee and protein combo though...possbily tonight. (decaf........)

  • For a delicious protein Latte, add to a shaker bottle: 8 oz nonfat milk, a scoop of protein powder (vanilla for me), a bit of cinnamon (because its supposed to be great for you), and finally 1 "Starbucks Via" instant coffee. It dissolves perfectly in with the drink, and you've got your protein latte! Try it! I drink one every morning!

  • 1 cup of raw oats.

    1 cup of water.

    2 minutes in microwave.

    Add protein, and mix.

    Proatmeal!

  • @KouroshDK Great idea. I do the same, except I cook the oats in skim milk, also with some raisins added, sometimes with adding a bit of nutmeg or cinnamon.

  • Is Whey Protien Bad for You?

  • @MrDJones71 Its great for you.

  • hey im not a coffee drinker im a tea drinker is it ok to mix with tea? please answer!!

  • @TRCpLaYa

I don't think it would taste good in tea... If it was me I'd drink your tea and protein separately.

  • A nice big cup of bustelo before a workout is ace!

  • @rgaufman

It can't be too hot, let the coffee cool for a minute or two before mixing in the powder and it won't lump up as much.

  • lol you tensed your arm at 1:29 aha your awesome dude.

  • I tried this a few months ago, but mine didn't mix well at all! Next time, I'm thinking of using a protein-shaker instead of stirring it.

Hmmm... Coffee Protein, shaken not stirred......

  • Hey Lee, Just getting back into powerlifting after 3 yrs off. Wondering what your thoughts are on caffeine and creatine. Used to be a real no-no when I was training last, now days it seems as if everyone is mixing the two.

  • I actually do the same when I have a little of a sweet tooth, except I use chocolate protein add a little bit of stevia and pour in very little coffe... Makes a perfect choco-café pouding ... makes me happy untill my next sugar craving !

  • @charlrogers1990 You did not likely get a skin reaction from pre work-out supps. There's really nothing in them you would not have encountered before and therefor had a known reaction to. eg. caffine.

  • Can I take myofusion pre-workout only? or should I add more calories to it, if I don't want the coffee...?

  • I use Dark Rage

    Way more powerfull than coffee

  • @TheWeinerdrizzler way more expensive...

  • @mattownsu1 yes its not cheap, but its very effective

  • Hey bro

Keep in mind that you should only put protein in cold liquid otherwise you wont take any benefit from it!

Please do a research on that topic!

    Peace

  • @BrianFaithification

I agree that heat may damage protein to a certain extent, but it doesn't mean the protein is totally useless. After all most folks heat / cook protein foods like meat, chicken, eggs, fish, etc. and they are still able to get some nutritional benefits from eating those foods.

  • @leemhayward yeh but nobody cooks whey powder

  • @nicisdisturbed

Actually I know lots of people who cook with Whey. Have you read the Anabolic Cooking Cookbook? There are literally dozens of recipes that use whey protein in them.

  • @BrianFaithification maybe some nice iced coffee instead ;)

  • @BrianFaithification

LOL, shuttup dude you have no clue about the denaturing of protein. Take a look at Lee.. and you tell him to do some research.. You skinny little fuck, do some research yourself.

  • @BrianFaithification

hey bro nice bro science.. no offense but you don't have a clue

heat and acid denature proteins.. what does protein come in contact with in your stomach.. ahh thats step one.. all protein denatures in your stomach and can even break down completely into the amino acids that make up the specific protein.. if the protein doesn't break down into aminos in your stomach.. it does in your small intestine.. our body doesn't use the protein in it's original form it rebuilds it

  • @BrianFaithification so if i put in a scoop (25 grams) of protein and i put in say 400 ml of warm milk dose that effect it?

  • I was skeptical to try it but damn it was very good with Columbian coffee an bioplex pure wpi whey protein = ] thanks man for the new creation

  • Good Idea Thanks

  • Sometimes if you're in a hurry and can't gulp down searing hot coffee, I'd recommend using instant coffee mix. Tried it once and it's actually not too shabby. Plus it's dry which might be beneficial if you're gonna hit the road first and take it with you.

    "Just add water!" :P

  • sounds like a jittery muscular protein shit after my workout ! YES !

  • coffee is excellent for you, its great for your heart, full of antioxidants, if you dont get the jitters from it, your good for 3-4 cups a day!

  • @thegreatcb7

I agree, it even has more antioxidants than most teas!

  • @leemhayward studies, i think they were from Scotland, show that Tea drinkers had a higher heart attack rate than coffee drinkers, crazy...

  • Just tried this with ON Chocolate Mint and it was pretty dang good! No cream or milk, just coffee and powder.

  • Surprised you didn't bend the spoon when stirring...

  • pepsi max is good before workouts too :P

  • i didn't have any eggs in my house this morning and i needed some protein so, i ate my oats with blueberries and drunk a cup of coffee mixed with ON cookies n' cream whey. oh my god it was so delicious! now i'm ready to workout

  • You're so awesome dude I really love how you're just so chill! I'd love to work out with you!

  • nice i'll give it a shot i use Myofusion all the time best favours! best mix taste great i have choccy mint so nice not to sure what its gonna taste like with coffee

  • Hmmm Never thought about a Coffee Protein drink! Thanks man I'll try it today!!

  • good idea, thanks!

  • the reason why you recommend that protein is because "it tastes awesome"....

when working out and taking protein...you shouldnt be drinking protein for the tastes

  • Otherwise if you don't have a strong stomach, you can end up throwing up.

  • Protein + Weightlifting+Boxing.. Good remedy not to look bulky?

I am currently taking some protein AFTER I lift weights, lifting weights every 3-4 days after I feel every muscle has recovered.

Is this good for me if I am trying to avoid getting bulky like you? There is nothing wrong with that, but I am aiming more towards ripped muscles, instead of big bulky ones.

    Thanks in Advance.

BTW, COFFEE is great before a workout, just be sure to take it a good 30-60 minutes before

  • @Legacy9x

That's good, there's also nothing wrong with also taking protein before you work out, as it will deliver the nutrients to the muscles so they can prepare for the work out. Also, focus on more reps and lighter weights if you want to tone. Not too light, nor too heavy, just enough to where you can feel the burn.

  • I always have a super-strong coffee 30 minutes before a workout, but I've never added protein powder to my coffee! Will give it a try before tomorrows chest workout!

  • hot coffee denatures protein....cold though is awesome mixed with ice and blended :)

  • I heard protein is not as efficient when hot or heated

  • your hella buff dude : )

  • actually i mix protein powder with cold milk and shake it in the shaker to make bubbles and then i poor it in the hot coffee. It looks and tastes like chcocolate cappucino

  • Get oxyelite pro. great weight loss/ caffeine supplement

  • i use myofusion aswell is good value

  • ok kool thanks, so coffee is better then any other supps? like no explode etc? i dont even take energy things lol for pre workout, but i realy should so if i take what you took, coffee whey protein etc, will that give me 1 hour of energy? or will my energy get high for 20 mins then drop or? thanks for your help :)

  • so i have this befour i workout? i heard that coffe isn good before working out? or if it is does the caffine from the coffee, energy last for that full hour of working out? thanks man :)

  • @mnoy91

I personally drink a cup of coffee pre-workout and I know a lot of advanced bodybuilders and powerlifters who do the same. The caffeine will help give you an energy boost and help you stay focused during your workouts.

  • @leemhayward kinda late here, but i figured id throw in my thoughts. coffee can be alright before a workout and give you focus and energy if you are affected my caffeine. Personally, caffeine does absolutely nothing to me whatsoever. But if you do drink a cup pre-workout you have to make sure you hydrate well, since caffeine is a diuretic.

  • Hey man,

would it be alright to add a slow feeder protein into the coffee?

  • lee your the man

  • is protein good as a meal replacement for weight loss

  • @sweetkisses4uonly high protein low carb diets are infact great for losing weight.

As you muscles grow, they also require my calories, which results in less fat being stored.

  • @fatezor that is untill your body gets used to metabolising protein which will happen in a short period of time & using protein as an enegery source will make you feel lethargic & in mostt cases give you an offensive odour which you wont notice but everyone else will.

  • @sweetkisses4uonly no because you dont get your essential vitamins and nutrients etc. also protein powder is a fast digesting protein, for a meal replacement you should have some thing that gives you energy for a extended period of time.

  • is ti ok if i do awesome mass mix in hot coffee?. its got creatine, protein...not just whey protein.

  • @faivision

I wouldn't personally, you should mix creatine in cold liquids.

  • i tried that this morning!, cept i only used about 1 fifth of a scoop of powder, cookies n cream flavor was awesome

  • how many ounces? of coffee?

  • why are you so bloated si it because of the protein and suplements and all you do is weights and no cardio or is it just your body because i see a lot of people that use what you are using and they all look bloated the same way........ i just dont want to look bloated...thanks.....

  • @brusanc727 he was probably offseason..

  • Firstly put a little bit of hot liquid over the powder, stir it then add the rest, easier to break the crumbs this way :)

  • Just tried this myself, but we use coffee granules in our house and the end result was bloody horrible!! Bit of a daft question, but no harm in asking; do you reckon there's a difference between using perculated coffee or granules? The whey protein didn't break down at all; I tried prolonged stirring, then tried breaking it down with a fork, I even got out the electric whisk! Nothing was doing it lol.

  • sounds tasty. Dang Lee even makes stirring sound beastly eh

  • gaspari nutrition is awesome, love their products

  • hey lee, do you use the myofusion post workout as well?

  • Lee, I have this first thing every morning, it's so good! The whey I use is Muscle Milk but I suppose it works great with any protein powder. It's brilliant for waking you up and feeding the muscles all in one......and it saves on washing up too! Cheer Lee. All the best!

  • I like this idea, as I cant use regular pre-workout drinks cause im one of the unlucky few whos body reacts badly to creatine, my creatnine levels get too high, but with this I can get that extra boost from the caffeine (which is really the most potent thing in pre-workout supplements) but without having to ingest creatine, thanks lee for another helpful video!

  • mmm ill try that :) good idea dude!

  • awesome my wheys been collecting cob webs now i can mix it in something i drink everyday. GREAT TIP

  • Wow, who else loves cold coffee?! One scoop, added to ice-cold coffee—should be superb. Thanks for the idea.

  • Quick question: I have the Whey Protien powder, so di I use the powder befor of after I workout?

  • i do this all the time, lol i crush some ice and blend it with cold coffee and whey on hot days just before a workout, taste awesome

  • But doesn' t caffeine reduce the effectiveness of the proteine powder?

  • somebody said drinking coffee before work out is bad..somebody said no its good before hitting to the gym...I dont know who is saying the truth..ugh!

  • your cofee is it hot or cold?

  • @PleaseNot

Hot, but you could have it anyway you like.

  • i didnt like eat taste like shit have me shitting nonstop for 3 days straight.

  • Hello Lee, should one take proteins both before and after the exercise?

  • @tocrank no, protein is a post-workout supplement. but you can also take it throughout the day to maintain high protein levels to build muscle.

  • @tocrank yes, you should be taking protien throughout the entire day. form morning to night.

  • is the protein shakes just for bulking up? as im trying to lose a few more pounds and didnt know if i would benefit from taking shakes!

    love the videos mate thanks

  • protein is used to repair and build muscles, it is essential for daily life and even more critical for bodybuilders. It will not by itself make you bulk up, exercise does that. If your trying to shed pounds and gain muscle you might want to use it if your vigorously exercising. It can also help fill you up because protein is low in calories and takes a while to digest

  • @craigsimo157 Myofusion protein powder has CLA which is an omega 9 fatty acid. and it is one of the best fat burners you can get. essecially around ur stomach. it makes you looked ripped and dry beyond belief trust me.

  • no lol

theirs suppliments that bulk you up and suppliments that slim you down.

normaly people see a slimming protien that will have like 25g protien 30g

just stick to 100% whey protien and you can get the rest from your diet

  • whats up with ur belly lol

  • Comment removed

  • No, mix creatine in cold water.

  • @leemhayward

I've always heard you shouldn't use creatine in juice. Is that because the acid in the juice breaks the creatine down to quickly so that your body can't use it?

  • @jreily88 creatine is recomended with juices like apple or cranberry..,

  • @murphy0847

I can see it being okay with apple, but cranberry? That seems to be just as acidic as orange juice, or is it? I just use mine with water though, which is better than anything since creatine basically moves water into your muscles and you need plenty of water to keep from dehydrating.

  • @jreily88 I would reco something with electrolytes or just eat and apple before the gym but mix into water with gatorade powder works awesome

  • hmmm give it a go lol

  • yeahhh tastes good, i use chocolate protien with coffee :)

  • I thought adding hot water to protein powder would effect the protein content! Guess not.

  • thanks bro!

  • i start my day with coffee and protein also

  • super idea

its perfect and i like it

    5/5 Stars

  • A tip for those who like shakes.Get your protein shaker, fill it with ice and water.Shake it hard.Remove the top and put the ICE COLD water into another shaker bottle with your protein powder. Then shake that and your shake will be ice cold.MYOFUSION is the best I tried as well. And I pretty much tried em all.Try the strawberry.AWESOME.

  • Try Garnell Nutrition- High Performance Whey. It's fantastic.

  • Yep good Idea taste good.

  • HEY THANKS FOR THIS VID. I recently bought Myofusion chocolate mint, Pro complex gainer, gold standard 100% whey, micronized creatine powder animal stak, super pump 250 and glutamine powder. I have not worked out for about 1 month now and have gotten really lazy. Would you agree with this statement: " It's not worth working out and wasting your time if you are not taking a supplement to complement your workout"? I purchased these supplements for myself during the holidays.

  • Lee - - always find your video tips and recipes to be informative, enjoyable and worthwhile .. too bad you get so many douche-bags who really need to be elsewhere, if they don't want to be properly educated on weightlifting and keeping fit - - keep on keepin' on, dude !

  • Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

  • Im guessing you chill the coffee for a while before adding?

  • stop fucking with the kid, you are the dumb ass, whey protien and protien in food is two totally different things(dumb ass)

  • dude yes

  • hey can i use this protein coffee when i am low fat diet ?

  • I'll have to try this out with vanilla. I'm currently addicted to the chocolate flavor. Thanks for sharing!

  • does that protein shit have any side effects? or is bad for you in any way?? please tell me because im thinking about starting with it...

  • Well protein doesn't have any side effects. But "protein shit" now that's something totally different. I wouldn't recommend anyone take "protein shit" LOL

  • Comment removed

  • haahaha thats funnny i wount even recomand have shit even if u get diffrent types of it, example "protein shit"

  • lol!

  • DUDE c'mon dont tell me you actually are gonna buy protein shit try it then tell me how it taste LOL

  • dude are u serious do you get side effects from eating chicken or beef or beans its protein

  • your a fucking idiot. is protein bad for you, please grow the fuck up before you enter a gym.

  • thx budd I'll try it today

  • Hey this is Frank, from G.I. NE just wanted to hit you up and let you know thanks for the tip with the coffee and protein. that was a great idea!

  • I've been doing a little experimenting and found this works first if you use two separate containers

    1) make a protein shake with less milk than you would if you were going to drink it straight down. It'll be thicker and you'll have shake longer to mix in the protein.......

    2) make a cup of coffee but use much less water thus making a small strong coffee with room to spare

Then combine! :-D I use Body Fortress chocolate flavour and the mocha you get is gorgeous!

    Cheers for the tip, Lee!

  • or you can buy coffee flavored whey protein

  • Just tried this this morning and it is very good combo...thank you

  • It is, the only problem I have is I drink it too fast because I like the taste so much :-)

  • or you could just buy coffee flavored protein...

  • rofl.

  • wouldn't fresh hot coffee denature the actual protein molecules???

  • LOL I was just going to say that

    heres a suggestion:

    shake first, then coffee

plus the caffeine speeds up everything

and nervous reaction is increased ALOT

or I usually just keep iced coffee

heat destroys the molecules and the enzymes that help the bio-availibility

why do you think it says

    'Keep Refrigerated' on the side?

keep it light pre workout though... well lighter than post

  • so you could mix with cold coffee?

  • I would think so.

  • @strata88 there are some protein powders that are able to put in pancakes and in hot drinks:)

  • @strata88 High water temperature does denature the structural form of protein molecules. It might also cause breakage of long peptide chains into smaller and shorter peptide chains. But the temperature of hot water is not high enough to break the bonds between the atoms. In short, long protein chains might be broken down into simpler and shorter chains, but it won't be totally broken down into atoms. Hence, the amino acids can be preserved. This perhaps might help in protein digestion too.

  • @lohjoonkit so it's good to mix protein with hot coffee right??

  • Comment removed

  • @andrews23451 I wouldn't guarantee if it does any good to your body as I am not a nutritionist..but i do lift weights and to me there are only 3 things that matter most..1. DIET 2. TRAINING 3. RECOVERY. I don't see it necessary to go into every single detail like this because technical stuffs like this are basically ENDLESS especially when it comes to supplements. Eat well, train hard, give urself sufficient recovery time, enjoy your workout and enjoy life. Simple and easy.

  • REALLY REALLY GOOD!! :D

  • That is an incredible recipe for a protein coffee drink. Protein and.... coffee. The most riveting 2 minutes on youtube ever.

  • thats wat i do u asshole....

  • hes so out of shape......having muscles is one thing but you shouldnt hve to sacrifice your whole look......i bet he cant even run a km with out collapsing

  • do you have any protein drink recipies that dont include the powder

  • yeah thats what I wanna know too...
