  • WOW!!! Really nice run by! Love the feeling of it. Wish I could have been there to see it - and feel it - myself. But this is certainly the next best thing. Great job of picking your spot, as well as getting the shoot itself. Thanks for posting!

  • Good work mate/Love the way you can hear the birds singing before the train arrives.Great sound.

  • Fantastic, like when I was a child in the fifties in Denmark and most of the trains was steamers...

  • A beautiful video; and very well recorded.

  • @benbisley - Many thanks for your kind words :)

  • nice video

  • What is it with dickheads that think wearing a high vis coat makes them exempt from trespassing laws??

  • @brackers5 Yes. The Hi Vis jakets are proof they qualified for their 'Trackside Idiot Licence'

  • @brackers5 But non-railway people are very easy to spot by their behaviour! Shame they don't get prosecuted more!

  • Fantastic, great video...really enjoyed it (all the 4 times I have watched it).

  • It has done really well to get the train up to that speed from a start at Temple Meads.

  • What a cracking piece of film, wonderful.

  • Tried filming without trespassing?

  • Lovely shot , BUT:

I REALLY HATE high vis jackets!

    (Don't we all?)

    Bloody things are everywhere

  • Seems by her performances on the main line in her preservation days that her problems have been largely resolved - a great machine and a credit to British steam engineering (as well as the people who have had faith in her and made her restoration possible)..

  • i've seen pictures of her, but never seen her in stem. a truely awe inspiring sight. great vid, FIVE STARS

  • Cheers mate, yeah she is a lovely loco, she hasn't had the best of lives as she has had many faults during her history. but yeah she is a lovely loco. Cheers mate

  • Now it is getting proper attention the Duke is really showing what it could have offered if it had been looked after as soon as it was entered into service - it was a case of wrong engine wrong time back then.

Duke, the Duchesses, Princess Royal class, A4s etc were all consigned to the scrapheap in the late 50's/early 60's as they were seen as inefficient compared to the diesels that could be started with the turn of a switch!

  • @bfcmik the only reason the duke exists is because a princess was destroyed in an accedent and the only reason it lasted longer than the duchesses etc was because it was so much newer and she was always more efficient than the early desils

  • Nice one, great thrash!

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • shame the duke never made it to cornwall the only bit of the tour i saw was when it was deisel hauled from newton abbot to penzance but great video. wish i had seen it.
