Deadmau5 has only really been on the up for the past few years, before that he wasn't so mainstream. You want special effects and a good show then watch Eric Prydz EPIC tour. Eric prydz was a former member of the swedish house mafia until he wanted to go off and do this own thing, he's massive success, i've also been to see him live.
