I started skating in '88 and remember the impact this had when it came out. No other video I'd seen was as "street" as this one. The Powell videos, big contest videos, and a few other notable vids had street skating in them, but this one actually felt like what sessions were like at the time. My friends and I ended up watching this religiously, maybe every day, for at least a year. Matt Hensley's part got watched so much the tape became screwed up during his section. Colby Carter also. So good!
I haven't seen this video in many years. Just brings back amazing memories for me of skating with my friends when life was a little easier, a little more carefree. Matt Hensley had the best style and was a huge influence on me! All the songs on this video are epic!
yeah, not all the songs were good but i do like the ones for matt hensley's parts. Yeah, the hero song is pretty bad. For some reason I always like the jazz-fusion instrumental song for that one street section, even though it sounds like weather channel music! I used to get it my head when i was skating.
@asonjdj My favorite track was always the Ron Allen 'Telephone Betty' song. There are a few pretty bad tracks but this video is damn near perfect and played a major role in elevating skateboarding to the next level. The next super influential video was probably Video Days by Blind.
@tallow888 Me too. I'm 34. Started skating a couple of years before this video came out. But I'll never forget how vids like these used to pump me up to skate from dusk til dawn damn near every day. All these old skate videos bring back memories, sucks getting old.
first time i saw this i was probably 4 or 5 years old now that i am 22 i still watch this now and then. personally the best skate video i have seen and best soundtrack i have heard from a skate video.
I miss those times back then...........Getting approach by Spitfire was a memory never to forget.........My old friends and I still get out and go skate like we used to......But not often as much....Thanks for posting this video....2 thumbs up.....Kids now a days dont know what they missed.........

@rebusd He'll always be in my top five all time favorite street skaters. Along with Jason Lee, Natas, Gonz, Jeremy Klein. His style sure shined.

birth of the cool. Hensley was just a clean break from everything that came before. The rest of this video basks in his glow.

I always fast forwarded past the vert sections. Straight to Matt! And if the vert section was on, it was for the music.
