  • dude both balls were sitters and the guy was either shanking or hitting them right to you- what else would you do but move in??? neither of your approach shots were good, you should do a demonstration against someone better

  • @wongtim12 I think the key is recognition of when to close in on the ball, once they commit, close

  • the guy ur playing has horrible passing shots lol, both the points he didnt even try to hit a passing shot, he just hit it straight to u lol

  • Also 1 tip from me - always follow the path of the ball you just hit when approaching the net

  • OOHHHH good one! I never heard that one before

  • @hi10spro how have you never heard that? Your forehand grip is so extreme by the way! not healthy.

  • @JoeyASRV i'm not the guy in the red

  • @hi10spro oh than you have a nice backhand motion :)

    X

  • @JoeyASRV AHAHAHHA

  • I don't like the lack of depth, pace, and penetration on your approach shot. If your opponent wasn't a terrible player, you would've been passed easily. I mean, both times he goes for a passing shot, it's right at you and nice and high. You can't ask for an easier shot.

And for your first volley in point 2, you did well to get the volley back and low, but it was short. There is an obvious mismatch of skill here.

The serving spot is an Agassi play, but you're supposed to hit a kicker out wide!

  • short approach are deadly too, you force the baseliner up and out of his comfort zone hitting up on a shot

  • ur video sucks

  • why? and how would you make it better?

  • the guy in red seems like he was originally a clay court player (judging by the way he finishes his forehand)

  • volleyball player

  • how hard do you serve my server is about

135km how can i get more harder the flat

    serve.

    1.backswing

    2.toss high in the air

    3racket in neck

4 contact point above my head.

    greetz

  • my serve is about 100 mph...160km? not sure about that km conversion. roddick serves 140. i played mardy fish in a pro-am and he's 125...and that was UNREAL fast. you hit harder on your serve by jumping into it, transferring weight forward, and racquet acceleration along with shoulder rotation and arm snap... but it's like pitching some people can bomb it

  • You could serve harder. Considerably harder. If you push more with your legs, you'll gain your speed. You almost don't bend the knees on your strokes and the serve isn't an exception. Roddick does serve 140mph regularly, but it's ridiculous how low he gets.

But at the same time, your game is all about aiming; would it be better with 10mph more with lesser accuracy...

You play like Sampras with Federer's serve, just little slower, but it resume it well.

  • good comment... it's not about speed, it's about position if I'm not in that box by the first shot, I'm going to hit a weak volley and be passed

  • Yeah, but the chances he hits a lesser good shot are higher.

  • true that, but you have to be in that box for the volley or you're not playing position. if you lose position, than you have to hit better shots

  • The conversion is correct. There is a small fraction of a kilometer at the end, but that is negligible.

And Roddick regularly serves 135s now give or take and slices it at around 125. He can easily go into the 140s though.

And Mardy Fish consistently serves around 135 as well. Then again, the pros shouldn't go all out against an amateur.

  • no way dude... I played Mardy--his serve is rocking... and it's 1.6 km to a mile so that's pretty significant as the numbers get higher so a 100 mph serve is 160 km... that's not negligible

  • At the start, the guy starts out serving inbetween the doubles serving spot and singles serving spot. Is it ever okay to serve like that in Singles? They could rip a winner down the line and it'd be over everytime.

  • the angle is funny--it's the old andre agassi play...try it--it makes the down the line look open...and when you try to knock it down the line, it doesn't...do it on the ad side---they'll hit the ball right to your forehand--assuming your serving wide--don't do it and serve middle because the angle is perfect for the line shot

  • whoa the guy in red has a really weird forehand...

    nice serve though

  • yo this vid helped so much in a jv match ty so much , the oponent didnt expect slices and drops on every play:D

  • that's interesting, considering you used them on every play

  • I slice alot, but I don't drop alot...

  • but if someone slice to you backhand

and come to the net.this is a good tactic

  • yep :D they have to bend low and hit up

  • ta bueno pero le falta derecha..............

  • the guy in red has bad groundstrokes

  • not really--his forehand is okay, but his serve and his backhand rock...his serve is easy 105-110--plus he is extremely honest...and fun to play--can you name a lot of guys like that.

  • yeah his serve looks great

but come on get a new forehand

  • are u Jewish?

  • HUH?

  • ...there was no serve and volleying here...

  • what city and place are you playing? It looks like a rooftop tennis court nice!!!

  • nice shot here.
