While it's true that the Native Americans were treated horribly, The Real problem came about through the Christian 'schools' that the Native children were sent to. They strove to 'convert' the Natives and tried to drive their culture, their Language & their Heritage from them. And they Almost succeeded. It is now a Battle for the tribes to re-instill this into their children, It's a battle to get the children to re-learn what should have been their Birth Right.
