What a treat to hear this wonderful carol played on the instrument best suited, the zampogna. 'Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle' also known as 'Canzone d'i Zampognari' or 'Carol of the Bagpipers'. Anyone know what the second tune is?
Actually, the bag is made from the complete hide of a sheep or goat, cured and turned inside out. The chanter and drones are fixed in the neck, and the blowpipe in one of the leg holes. You can clearly see one of the legs at the bottom of the bag in this video. A bit grotesque, perhaps, but an amazing sound.

It's like a bagpipe, only a bit more harmonious, isn't it?

It IS a bagpipe. There are more than 1 kind of bagpipes. Irish, Scottish, Italian. More, I guess.

The second tune is known as "Piva Piva", the Piva is an italian type of bagpipes.
I don't know the third tune.

How many sacked potatoes became homeless in order to supply the Italians with that instrument :)
