I first heard this on Later with Jools Holland one Saturday night in 2000.

I couldnt believe how good it was, i had heard nothing like it before.

It went round my head for a week and I wondered if it really had been as good as Id heard.

I got the Lost Souls album a week later and couldnt stop listening to it.

9 years on and I can still put this on repeat for an hour. Its the best song Ive ever heard.

I always wondered if it was about an ex-lover whom had comitted suicide... Coffins are commonly made from cedar wood and a coffin could be interpreted as a small room...

The part when Jimi sings "I'll be a shadow, in the cedar room. And leave just a memory, alone with you" could be part of the suicide note.

The rest of the lyrics could be about Jimi apologising for not noticing how miserable he'd made the suicide victim (by judging or ignoring them over the years).
