both look like males to me

the male is in the tank to the right. you can tell by the dorsal fin of the left festae that it's becoming black. and also it shows a redder hue so it's a female.

what other cichlid is with the female festae? Great fish by the way.
Hi ugnac, the other fish was a Cuban Cichlid that I was using as a dither fish to relieve the agro from the male who was a very nasty peice of work.

those are my favorite cichlids. i have a pair of cubans and pair of festaes currently in my tank. any suggestions to encourage breeding?
