i'd be glad to work for these farmers, the problem is i play by the rules. pay me a wage i can support my family on, pay my mortgage, save for kids education, save for retirement, pay for health insurance, etc etc.. all the things that the illegals get for free from the taxpayers (or just dont bother with). (dream act, free health care, housing, etc.) i dont mind competing for a job with imigrants, i just want it to be fair.
Looks like Alabama produce will be double the price from now on. Farmers have recruited illegal workers for decades and paid them very little, and I don't remember a year when farmers haven't complained that their profit margin was too slim.
Solutions: 1. Reduce the size of your farm to make it more manageable. 2. Hire fewer workers and pay them better. 3. Go organic - the reduction of harmful chemicals means healthier workers which means fewer sick days which means more labor. 4. Save money by not buying chemicals - suck up the startup costs of "healthifying" your soil - that will come back to you as better produce you can charge more money for. In the long run, you might make less but your overhead will be less as well.
lets get all those lazy welfare fucks and put them to work..NOW!!
