  • Hope Cooper grows into that pack!

  • @BushcraftTam Haha - I sure hope he does. He seemed to fit into already at home but when we got out, still too big. At 5 months now, he still has some growing to do. Thanks for watching Tam!

  • Yeah, he doesn't say much - his bark and his bite are a work in progress, haha!

  • Nice one Bill. Cooper doesn't look like he's big enough to take on the big bad deer yet. He wasnt growling and he wasn't barking; kind of an in between sound. LOL

  • That was awesome Bill! As if those woods weren't gorgeous enough... then to be fortunate to be visited by the local wildlife... all the better! Thanks for sharing this buddy :-)

  • @intenseangler The woods there held a few "little things" I'll always cherish John : )

  • Good little guard dog, that Cooper is :)

  • @Snake90411 The more I take him out, the more he becomes aware. It's really fun watching him learn so much. Thanks for coming along with us!

  • Cooper the deer hound!! nice stuff.

  • @gcstorm1 (A corrected reply to you - I replied to myself) A chow hound more like it, on a growth spurt - haha, thanks!

  • This is what it's like in my area too, as far as game trails go. They're everywhere you look. Some are more used than the others and its fun watching these larger animals walking around from a distance. I gave up hunting years ago. I love watching 'em now through a comera. Great shots Bill.

  • @rainbowhiker That's right - you were pointing them out on your hikes early last year - many trails! I'm with you, no scope lens, camera only : )

  • Cooper is a good tracker :)

  • @bushcraftbartons Sure wished I has his nose buddy!

  • im glad you did not have a gun,you are luky to see them BANG

  • @nellyyllen1 No BANG on Doe's. Thanks for watching!

  • Those are Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus). We don't have Whitetail Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) on the west side of the Cascades.

  • @jsgt Oh you are so right - my bad! I Googled your Latin descripts. Thank you for them, and your comment.. I saw so much white as they were leaving us - didn't notice the detail (pun intended). Again, thanks!

  • Great vid Bill! I'm always envious at how often you get out, but at the same time I'm thankful you take us along with you! :) Aren't we lucky our backyards are so beautiful and full so of treasures!

  • @BCkayakcamper You know it buddy, so true about our areas! I know it's tough with a little one ; ) You online yet?

  • nice looking woods..i love bush whacking...esp with snow on the ground...the animals pop out at you and you can track them for hours...man you guys are lucky dogs,lol..

  • @sousaville You caught me Ed - switching between watching vids and thanking viewers - present company included, haha! I'm sensing more and more you're quite the snow man.

  • @wawhiker Bill it was either hibernate most of the winter or learn to play nice in the snow...i leave the hibernating to the bears,lol...the fact that those critters let you get them on film was very cool...it looked like the sun was pretty bright and you were in the shade behind that tree ...thinking you were pretty hidden...and wind was probably not blowing at them....nice video footage.

  • @sousaville I hear you. Looking forward to getting out this weekend to test some new snow boots - hoping they're a good match for my snowshoes and MicroSpikes. I think you're right - the conditions were in our favor to capture them.

  • @wawhiker Bill enjoy your weekend ,hope the new boots work out...Ed

  • Mmmm.......deer

  • @hunt458 Haha - all doe deer that day.

  • Kool stuff buddy! Cooper was freakin' on the deer eh...haha. I bet he thought he was protecting you :o) Seeing the critters always makes my day :o) I still can't get over your forest! It's wild lookin' man :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos He wanted to go play with them big doggies! We were out there playing with my MSR Whisperlite Stove - that I hadn't lit up for two seasons. Those deer changed my video plans. Playing in the fun forest - hehe!

  • Excellent Bill! What a treat to be able to spot some deer. Was that Coopers first deer sighting? Love the shelf mushrooms on that broken tree... enough room for the backpacking stove, 2 cooking pots, and a canteen! :) 2 Thumbs Up! Thanks for sharing.

  • @CrazyTaileZ I thought that too! If I had a saw, I could have flatten them off and made a couple tree tables, haha. How you doing buddy?

  • The deer seem tame. I never get a camera on one let alone two for that long.

  • @EconoChallenge Stealth - haha! The pair earlier in the morning bolted right away. Luck of the draw...

  • Some day I'll be able to go hiking with my dog. Looking forward to more videos and reviews!

  • @kakasibatosi Hope you can share them with us - it'll be fun to watch! More to come - promise, thanks!

  • Cooper the super trooper, what a great companion

    Cheers

  • @ekhaat Thanks! Charlie too ; )

  • Nice job Cooper! good puppy! Very nice video!

  • @karenchakey Haha - thanks for coming along with us Karen!

  • Cooper the hunting dog!

  • @redwoodfox Looking forward to see how he'll react when he comes across a grouse for the first time.

  • Very nice Bill & Cooper. That was pretty neat. Lucky you. Cooper needs just a bit more height for that pack huh :-) He's a tough little guy with that little ruff, ruff talk. Nice!

  • @dmacken11 LOL! Yeah, you saw how those deer were trembling over his bark! We've packed his pack back into the gear closet until summer. It looked okay at home, bad posture outdoors, haha! How's that good boy of your's doing? Buster must be itching for a few burrs in his coat.

  • The dog must know instinctively how delicious they are.

  • @flyflung I think he wanted to go play with them really big "doggies". Thanks for joining us!

  • Pretty awesome! Very nice spot! Thanks for sharing!

  • @TomsBackwoods Creeks are my weakness Tom - and the gear I play with along side them - haha!

  • i love doing that too, just follow a game trail. Thanks for sharing

  • @dragonflyhiker We wanted to keep going on this particular trail but it continues onto private property. Deer know no bounderies - lucky them, to bad for us ; )

  • Very cool video!

  • @MrSportsfreak56 Thanks for saying so, and watching!

  • Awesome backpacking trip man! I think Cooper wanted to visit with them! Thanks for making the video.

  • @SurviveToLife He's a really friendly pup - everyone's pal - haha! Thanks so much!

  • .. pretty exciting encounter

  • @steintanz We just happened to look up and there they were - our cook site must be too quiet. Take care out there Tim!

  • That is just one lush area you are in there. Deer everywhere, right next to you. Great video. Loved the little dog. Thanks for the vid pal. ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun Thank you much for coming along with us. That's the most I've seen in several years in that area.

  • very cool, nice spot you found there. coop might need a bit a growing in to that pack ;)

  • @beast12101 He looked fine with it at home - haha! Yup, we're going back to the harness until the summer.

  • Cooper didn't like them! Haha.. I'm always afraid to take my dog into the woods and hiking (especially overnight). He's the kind of dog who will see something and just chase after it and not stop.

  • @longlivecrow That's our next challenge - overnight. I'm hoping he'll be a feet warmer -haha! What breed is yours?

  • Great video bill. Cooper seams to listen well. So cute running around with the pack on his back.

  • @medicjimr Little pup - big pack, even bigger heart - haha! Working the overnighter Jim?

  • @wawhiker ya 12-8 snowing suposed to have 4" by rush hour so will be getting calls for crashes before long. PM to follow

  • a great video, and you've a wonderful dog there, thanks for sharing , I really enjoyed it ..

  • @oldguy537 Appreciate your very nice comment, thank you for watching us!

  • Great video! It's hard to get that close up shots of deer in the day time. I think Cooper wants to hunt.

  • @Ebiczebulanious He's a natural - thanks Jim!
