last year i saw the old star trek on tv and i did not like it and then this year star trek was a cheap movie like it had already been out so it became cheaper before it came out and well it was the only thing that looked good i was not happy to go see it but after i saw it i feel in love with it! keep me at the edge of my seat!

I loved this movie. I was a little upset Nero wasn't given MUCH MORE screentime. Bana did so much with so little...imagine if he was given more material. The first time I saw it, I was a little annoyed but the second time around I totally loved this movie. I had some minor bugaboos with it, but overall it was the first JJ Abrams production I've ever truly liked.

I was waiting for Spock to yell "Fascist!" at Simon Pegg & him to respond "Hag!" as homage to "Hot Fuzz." Maybe in the sequel...?

Data wouldn't stay dead, because he was in the final episode of TNG, which was set 20 years later. The storyline of Nemesis allowed for the possibilty that Data's mind could emerge from B-4.

I thought you were wrong, but I'm not the type that would say someone's wrong without making sure first, so I watched the final episode of TNG again. You're right, it's one of those "This never really happened" episodes. I was sure I saw the Enterprise E in the last season of TNG. I must've been thinking of DS9. Oh well. I heard somewhere that Brent Spiner was done playing androids. But, situations change, and the door was left open for Data's return. Hell, I'd rather see Lore again than B-4.

People will only be happy with this movie if they realize and accept that the "canon" has been thrown out the window and they are "rebooting" the story. It's a "do-over" with lots of young angst to appeal to a new crowd.  I'm trying really hard to like the idea, but I don't think I will. For one thing, they seem to be compressing the ages of the characters together to throw them together on the ship.

--In Kirk's time there were only 12 Constitution class ships in the fleet. They were the premiere, cutting-edge, and largest battleships in the Federation.

I doubt Starfleet would promote to Captain and give command of one of these to a 24 year old like this guy.

i think that the director opted to make captain kirk cocky is because younger people tend to be more arrogant. I think that will allow the movie show the transition of captain kirk's character into a responsible adult

Captain Kirk was the poster boy for cocky. Picard was more cerebral and so was original Enterprise captain Pike. Kirk was made to be more of a cowboy.
