Other political dissent and activists where specking loudly and getting jailed for it for years and years before WL even started. And the revolution started among people who most of them probably never heard of WL at all at that point. So realistically, WL cannot possibly be the reason, or even one of the main reasons, of the Tunisian revolutions.

@AllNightDayDream I know because I know these countries and what activists used to do there before the revolutions, and I followed it when it first started when no western media was covering it and I followed how it developed gradually as a series of events. Actually, Facebook, Twitter, and Al Jazeera had bigger impact than WL on the Arab Spring. People like Bouazizi in Tunisia and Khaled Saed and Wael Ghoniem in Egypt had bigger impact on the Arab Spring than Assange.
I realised with awful force that no exercise of my own feeble wit and strength could save me from my enemies and without the assistance of that high power which interferes in the eternal sequence of causes and effects more often than we are prone to admit..I could never succeed.

I'm against the Protect IP Act as written. If it passes, then it will be more difficult for diabetics to import the natural pork & beef insulin that they need for survival and quality of life. Even Eli Lilly stated that rDNA synthetic human insulin wouldn't work for some diabetics and rDNA human insulin is the only insulin available in America. Why isn't natural pork & beef insulin protected by the "Orphan Drug Act"? Pork & Beef insulin should be available to American diabetics.

However, if someone else hacked that information and dropped it on wiki leaks. IT IS LEGAL because it is protected by the Freedom of the Press in the U.S. constitution.

The whole thing got nothing to do with WikiLeaks. Most people who participated in these protests probably never read a WL cable leak in their lives. @AllNightDayDream What and? The revolution started after Bouazizi setting fire to himself, he's the only guy who deserve the credit for this. Other political dissent and activists where specking loudly and getting jailed for it for years and years before WL even started. And the revolution started among people who most of them probably never heard of WL at all at that point. So realistically, WL cannot possibly be the reason, or even one of the main reasons, of the Tunisian revolutions.

@gyonis I don't think it's at all fair to say it's THE reason it happened. But it's also unfair to say it didn't give a significant contribution. You say all these people have never even heard of wikileaks, but what evidence is there of that? Considering the timing between the media coverage of those cables and the effective ousting of the president, Even if they all never heard of wikileaks, they sure must have been receptive to its findings.

@AllNightDayDream I know because I know these countries and what activists used to do there before the revolutions, and I followed it when it first started when no western media was covering it and I followed how it developed gradually as a series of events. Actually, Facebook, Twitter, and Al Jazeera had bigger impact than WL on the Arab Spring. People like Bouazizi in Tunisia and Khaled Saed and Wael Ghoniem in Egypt had bigger impact on the Arab Spring than Assange.
