So, IF there is a hygiene argument for the routine removal of the male prepuce, the same argument applies to removing the female prepuce (clitoral hood and inner labia), in order to simplify female genital hygiene.

People will tell you many reasons why it's done, but it's mainly done to keep the males in control of their woman's body. 80% of women can only experience an orgasm with clitoral stimulation, rather than vaginal penetration. With a woman who has her clit removed she'll have no choice but to try for a vaginal orgasm, that or just let her husband get his rocks off, then roll over and go to sleep.

Babies are often not even anaesthetised, since administering anaesthetic to a very young baby can add to the risk of complications. See if you can even complete the viewing! In the hospital setting, it typically lasts at least 10 minutes. It might change your tune a bit.

In the "bush", it's over more quickly, but there is a huge risk of associated infections.
