@gmcbigrig79 the only reason cummins is good is because its an inline 6 engine, inline 6 engines are really strong and can take high boost. powerstroke and duramax used a v8 because it has better low end torque because it doesn't have to rely on the turbo's as much. its hard to make strong, light v8 blocks for cheep so the stock blocks arn't that tough.

@gmcbigrig79 meh, i think diesels are worth it. they have soo much torque that if you built a 6 speed sequential transmission to take it all you'd have to do is get into the boost range, launch and click through the gears, the engine would just pull all the way. plus diesels are fuel efficient when your not in the boost in the low rpm ranges so in theory they'd be good in the city if you tuned it right.

Dodge Cummins is the best ..That same engine is rated to over 500 Hp. in other applications (marine, industrial, power generation) with only slight modifications to the fuel and cooling systems.Not advocating trying to make a pickup engine put out 500 Hp. .... just saying that if the engine can hold together at those outputs, think how long it will last at the Hp. you have in a pickup.
Cummins is the best hands down. The 6cyl design is much more efficient than a v-8 and it shows when it comes to fuel mileage. The Cummins is a torque monster. And as far as reliability, check the facts, the powerstroke and duramax are both classified as a "light duty" engine, while the Cummins is classified as a "medium-duty" engine.

ive worked on both these engines i prefer the cummi\ns due to the fact that they are very reliable and when the do break the are much easier to work on .for example a new ford with a powerstroke say you have to do a waterpump your looking at around $800.on a cummins your looking at around $300 these prices are installed

Dodge Cummins is the best ..That same engine is rated to over 500 Hp. in other applications (marine, industrial, power generation) with only slight modifications to the fuel and cooling systems.Not advocating trying to make a pickup engine put out 500 Hp. .... just saying that if the engine can hold together at those outputs, think how long it will last at the Hp. you have in a pickup.

Cummins is the best hands down. The 6cyl design is much more efficient than a v-8 and it shows when it comes to fuel mileage. The Cummins is a torque monster. And as far as reliability, check the facts, the powerstroke and duramax are both classified as a "light duty" engine, while the Cummins is classified as a "medium-duty" engine.

Only the 4.5 liter Duramax is considered light-duty, and it has been supsended indefinitely. There is nothing light duty about the 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel engine.

ive worked on both these engines i prefer the cummi\ns due to the fact that they are very reliable and when the do break the are much easier to work on .for example a new ford with a powerstroke say you have to do a waterpump your looking at around $800.on a cummins your looking at around $300 these prices are installed

Pretty sure I said I work on the oil rigs, not a shop and even then we still have more dodges. Why? Because they are better. 2:1 for ford in popularity maybe in gay cities but that's because women and fags buy new fords, but when it comes to work in a place that puts a truck to the test, there's dodge. Fords always break down? Funny, my uncle's F150 has 415,000 miles... Has only left him stranded ONCE. Engine is all original and runs perfect.
Around here, Fords out number any other brand by at least 10-1 at construction sites and what not.

The only time it's been in a shop was at 390,000 miles when the original transmission finally gave out. Other then that, he does all the routine maintenance on the truck himself. It's on it's second alternator, starter and water pump. I wish my Chevy truck was as reliable.. My next will be a Ford, for sure.

I'm actually a directional driller, so I know my shit.. but anyway, my topic started out as saying Dodge is a better truck. I'm not speaking of sales; for sales prove nothing, considering 90% of people who buy a vehicle do so for brand name or what the sales associate tells them. I am talking about Dodge being in the Oil sands and outlasting Fords, and sure Ford might sell more, but Dodge has more trucks in the Oil sands.. where a truck's durability and brand name matters.

You got nothing little buddy, nothin. My company stopped buying Fords due to the high cost in repairs from previous Ford trucks. Even the 2008's (last year we bought) that we bought are having major drivetrain issues, also the PowerStroke is still a shit engine.
