  • The values from $100-$500 were used from September 10, 1984 - November 23, 2001. $200-$1000 for the Jeopardy! round was used since November 26, 2001.

  • I wonder when they'll increase the values to $500-$2500 and $1000-$5000. That'll be fun.

  • @BlueManIan They'll do that when the economy gets better and if we ask them too.

  • This was from the episode that aired on Monday November 26, 2001.

  • They did it just in time after they retired an undefeated 5-time champion at the end of last week before that special event.

  • $100-$500 1984-2001

    $200-$1000 2001-Present Day

  • They did a similar thing during the Super Jeopardy tournament in the summer of 1990. Even though they were scoring in points instead of dollars, it was from 200 to 1000 in the Jeopardy round, and from 500 to 2500 in the Double Jeopardy round.

  • Understandable

  • Well, Alex DID admit that after having those clue values for 18 years the show WAS due for an increase in the cash on the game board so the contestants could win more money; remember, the $75K one-game win by Ken Jennings would be $37,500 under the older values.

  • Perhaps, although I'm still irritated by how they rank post-doubled amounts winners, especially those with unlimited tenure, right alongside winners from the pre-doubled era. As if they all made the same $50K+ as winners. The $100K Frank Spangenberg earned back in 1990 is NOT the same $100K on the program today.

  • you know what me 2
