Interesting trivia from this pilot episode:

-Mr Knight's doctor is Oscar from The Six Million Dollar Man

-Michael Long's partner is Lt 'Boomer' from Battlestar Galactica

-Kitt's turbo sound is the same as a Battlestar Galactica Viper's turbo

-Kitt's red 'eye' on the hood is the same look and sound as Battlestar Galactica Cylon's eye

-Michael's comment on Kitt looking like Darth Vader's bathroom is a tie into Star Wars.

I love Knight Rider, the problem with the new one was that it did not depict the relation of a man and his car, there were 2 to 3 more people jumping into the car for every mission and claiming that it was their car, specially the girl character

I REALLY enjoyed Knight Rider! Thank You nemtommiez for uploading this! It's a shame people have to go out on their own to build a car like KITT and Pontiac never built any with simpler functions for the public, like Ford did for fans of Starsky and Hutch. I've seen accurate look-alike red/white Gran Torinos, but have never seen look-alike cars like KITT. I sat in a car that was supposedly KITT at Universal Studios once and was really impressed until the car lied to me about STREET HAWK.

OH when I saw the autocruise take over I just remembered when Michael fell asleep at KITT's wheel. KITT tells him you better pretend you have a crick in your neck that police officer has been following us with your head tilted against my window. LOL Doesn't everyone wish we all could have cars like that? Accidents would be in the past.

the thing i never understood about the pilot was that they built KARR on the platform of the pontiac trans am, so was it just random luck that Michael who got shot in the face just so happened to own his very own pontiac trans am that they could quickly modify into KITT?

Oh and if you like the new knight rider from '08, then you'll notice that devon failed to mention the part where KITT turns into a robot.

@C0LL1N When I was a kid, I liked to think that before Garthe was sent to prison, he too had a Trans-Am exactly like Michael's. Then when Garthe went to prison, Wilton was given Garthe's Trans-Am and built KARR just as KITT was built from Michael's.

@DAChosen1 So KARR built from Garthe's Trans-Am and KITT built from Michael's Trans-Am, there's how the cars share the evil and good personalities of their human counterpart (even though on the show Garthe and KARR were never teamed together like they were in the Knight Rider video games). Weird, stupid, etc. I know but since there's no real explanation, I still like to think that's how the story goes, even now that I'm an adult.

@DAChosen1 I never realized KITT was built off Micheal's car. I always thought he was Foundation property. This scene seems weird now. "Don't tell me IT flies" should probably be replaced with "WTF did you do to MY CAR? It was running fine. I don't remember giving you permission to tamper with it." And don't guys have kind of love affairs with their cars? Should'nt he be missing the quiet hum of the engine or the way she felt when KITT's talking irritates him? "Put Her back the way she was!"

@C0LL1N so they decided to change Knight Rider into Transformers huh? So where does Michael sit when KITT goes robot? Maybe its more like Voltron. Why don't they just put a number on his hood and turn KITT into Herbie the Love Bug too while they're at it? Knight Rider was good as it was in the original without them changing it to other shows. If they wanted Transformers or Voltron, why are they calling it Knight Rider?

@exuva It's a Firebird Trans Am. There were three versions of the Firebird: The plain Firebird, (I'm blanking on the second), and the Firebird Trans Am. KITT is a Firebird Trans Am. ^_^

Im gutted and im sure others are too. I recently got the full season 1 on DVD for xmas (30 yr old remembering his youth!) Anyway, i remembered seeing the whole intro as a kid, where long got shot in the face etc, but yet none of this is on the dvd's. :-( Hoff has already had the surgery, met deveon and the team and is already fighting crime! GUTTED!

the pilot is on disk 7 not on disc 1 I made that mistake when I bought them originally the rest of the episodes are in order though

@Alessio2468: Actually, no. Devon was smiling at how impressive the car is, not because he was looking forward to more time with Michael. You probably don't recall, but Devon really didn't like Michael until later into the series and didn't understand why Wilton Knight selected him as KITT's pilot. At the conclusion of this episode, when Michael's mission had been completed, Devon actually attempts to pursuade Michael to give KITT back and quit working for the Foundation.

When Michael Long was shotted in hes face, he was actually dead, but FLAG (Foundation for Law And Gouverment) rescued him. They gave Michael an new face that looks like that from Garthe Knight, the son from Wilton Knight. He wasn't Michael Long anymore.. He was from now on: Michael Knight. They made from Michaels Trans Am the newest Knight Industries two-thousand (KITT). Wilton died and Michael became the newest Knight Rider and Devon Miles was hes boss.

Why didn't the producers just watch this entire series to take notes? The new knight rider is shit compared to the orignal. The orignal KITT would own the new one anyday. Even the turbo boost in the new show is cheesy and not belivable like in the orignal.
