Kate wasn't allowed to go back and they didn't have suitable planes available, and the people/officials higher than them- with more authority did not permit them to go. Neither did they have the money to fly back and rescue the dogs.

they could hav cuz the fuel in the plane wouldnt freeze really fast they could go get the dogs and come back and it would only freeze in like about 10 hours of sitting in the cold the movie said it took 3 hours to get to the dogs and 3 hours back
