Thanks for posting this - I've always wanted to try making these at home. Your video is very clear and your comments made me smile. Love the pretty pink gladiolas on your stove!
i´ve made them yesterday... we live very far away in Chile, but me and my wife love your videos... thanks for sharing, our buns were great thanks to your recepy
Maangchi, I have a question. If I make all 16 of the buns, will I be able to refridge/reheat throughout the week when I eat them? Or will they go bad? If they will go bad, can I make the whole batch and then before cooking freeze them? Will they still rise normally! Thank you so much Maangchi, I <3 you. :D
@selmatheking1 You need to steam it somehow. It's not cooked other ways. Google "DIY steamer" and you will find ways to make a steamer from the kitchen tools and utensils you already have at home.
I have made buns before, just like yours the all purpose flour cannot give the real white colour of bun, unlike the Chinese restaurant, their steam buns are very white! Do you know what flour do they use in the restaurant?
I love how accessible your receipt is. I don't have to go to a speciality store to buy anything particular. Thank you for uploading, I can't wait to try this out!
@XKeelyX yes, you can freeze them. First thaw them out in the fridge or at room temperature and then reheat them. You could use a steamer or microwave oven.
maangchi, say if i intend to use only 1 cup of flour instead of 3, do i divide everything else by 3? Since 3 cups of flour need 2 tbsps of yeast, do i put 2/3 tbsps of yeast to 1 cup of flour??? Pls reply me T__T i'm making the buns now
Hello Maangchi, I ate those for long time, at breakfast, at lunch and never imagine how easy to prepare, this weekend I will make your recipe, thanks for share. I´m pretty sure taste will take my mind to N.Y. thanks!! :)
Hi Maangchi! I love your videos and I can't wait to try this one. I've read somewhere that by adding a few drops of vinegar or lime juice to the water makes the buns whiter. Have you (or anyone else) tried that and know if it is true or not? Thanks!!
I've made these countless times now, always using your recipe, and they always turn out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I also add a little fresh ginger to the pork with the garlic when i grind it because I love ginger, thank you for sharing
Today I cooked this too. Just looks was not so well but for the first time I think it was ok :) Your recipe is very good and easy to understand. It's so tasty. Thank you for your Video and recipe.
Hi. How do you know when the dough is ready? Is there any indicator (other than time) that can tell me if the dough is ready? Like the texture... or whatever..?
its like.. bittersweet.. you take so much time and effort to make it. but it just goes into the mouth, chew a few times, swallow and thats it. which only takes like less than a minute.
@beautifyeva I enjoy every single moment while I'm cooking. Cooking is fun. I'm very satisfied with the result when it turns out delicious. When you cook, think about what I'm saying. : )

Thank you for sharing Maanghi.. They look beautiful! I am going to your web site and hope to find these on dvd. I'd like to make these with my mom and sister!
My father used to make these for various asian grocery stores in our area. In the Philippines, they call this item "siopao" (pronounced SHOW-POW). He also makes it in a chicken version too! I guess every asian country has their version of the meatbun! They are good to eat for breakfast too! Thank you again, Maangchi!
hi` maanqchi` thanks for gredients of stemed pork buns look so easy to make to cook. but 1rt. when yu finish to kneadthe floor n` keep it for long 1 hr. or 70 mns.
I just made these buns with chicken instead of pork and they are delicious. My kid are feasting on them while I am writing this comment:). @happygalhazel Probably to let the dough rise one more time?

I think you can use beef, chicken or even tofu instead. The original recipe uses pork. But since I have friends who don't eat pork, I cooked it with something else and it was still very delicious. =))))
When would be a good time to freeze them. After they rise the final 20 minutes before you would cook them? Even a half recipe is too big for two of us :P
I'm going to make this tonight!!! I was just wondering, how much water should you put in if you have only one tray in your steamer? (my rice cooker has a steaming tray, so i'm going to use that)
