Born and raised in the Peach State, and I love the Peach State. I'm a Junkyard Dawg till I die. GO DAWGS!!! But I went to college in the Bluegrass, and fell in love with this wonderful state, and I have fallen in line with the Big Blue Nation! But only on the hardwood! GO DAWGS! GO CATS!
There's a joke that a man goes to Heaven and sees people wailing, crying, and pulling at their chains. He says "What's wrong with them?"
St. Peter says "Oh, those are Kentuckians. We have to stop them from going back."
Kentucky isn't perfect. But it's home, and I thank God He gave me the blessing of being a Kentuckian.
Born here, and will die here. UofL is my school, and my team, I bleed red and black, but am for ALL the Kentucky school teams. We have the special pride, we're all Kentucky.
I LOVE Ky and HORSES! I miss them both i really want to be back in Ky but i will be going to College there in 3 to 4 years i cant wait im also going to try to ride some horses and eat BLUE MONDAYS (i love and miss there awesome taste)
born and raised in OH until 1992. I never felt a tie to OH, always felt like I was passing through. I'm a prowd Kentuckian now and will always count myself to be of the Bluegrass.
Kentucky was the quintessential border state. Look at the great statesmen of the time. So many of them were Kentuckians seeking to preserve a union between the North and South. Kentucky never seceded
Kentucky did not secede, it gave equal support to the North and the South. However, I do believe it did have some form of a limited Confederate Government.
This time of year those Kentuckians that are not in Kentucky get this powerful tugging at the heartstrings. We know what it is. It is Kentucky calling us home. I am the son of an Estill county man and a Clark County woman and I was raised in Madison County. Whenever I hear My Old Kentucky Home it makes me proud to be a Kentuckian. Thank you for posting this.
amen, i am the son of a Jefferson County man and Breckinridge County woman, i was born and raised in Grayson County. Unfortunately i was forced to move to California /:
in 1915,1923 -HALL & McCREARY COMPANY, it has 9 of Foster songs in it, I belive the words are more accurate. I have a school book of HISTORY,it was
printed in 1922 ,1925. This is a public school book, and it has the word Christ in it - before this Yankee Nation remove prayer and God from the public schools. Also it has more of the accurate detail of this Nation History.
I have a song book and it has some of Foster songs. The word people does not
appear-only the word Darkies. We SOUTHERNS were a CHRISTIAN NATION and always will be. THIS YANKEE NATION does teach our childern - the southern history wrong.
Kentucky was a broder state, and there were 4 slave states that didn't suceeded:
Delware,Maryland,Missiouri,Kentucky. The words to this song has been change, listen to Rosa Ponsella. The sun shine bright in my old Kentucky
home,'Tis summer,the darkies are gay;
The corn-top's ripe and the meadow's in bloom, while birds make mu-sic all the day; The old Kentucky home, good night! The word Darkies was change to people. Anyone can get confuse about Kentucky being a Confedrate state
This song is apart of history, and change the words in any way - you are changing history. We all have heard the Yellow of Texas , but the words has been change so much. This song was a song of a free
slave. This song like others has the blood
suck right out of it. I am a SOUTHERON, I have no respect for anyone who try to change history. The SOUTH is my home and my ancestor home. It is bad enough our SCHOOLS do not teach our southern children thier southern history, only lies - half truth.
Hm... I'm a Civil War Reenactor and I'm pretty sure that Kentucky didn't side with the south, or the north. It never even seceeded. If you look on a map, Kentucky is more north than it is south. >.> And I think that the words are right, because I am looking in the Stephen Foster song book that I bought in Bardstown. And hm, if you want teach the kids here, then get a teaching license. Other words, you don't have room to talk.
I do not understand why people change words of a song or try to change history. Stephen C.Foster was not of the SOUTH,he was a Dam Yankee born in Lawrenceville,Pennsylavnia and die in New york in 1864- he never seen the end of the war. This Yankee Nation does not teach our children, the turth of thier heritage- Only hate and lies.I'm southern and i'm proud of my heritage.80 of my people fought against the north.

John and Paul didn't really want to hold your hand, either. It's still a great song and I'm from a border state!
