  • It's just...too beautiful...

  • I am from china and i like this song so much.

It is a great song of beautiful japanese style of music,

and it shows as well the great friendship between China and Japan.

  • wow, how do know which note to hit with a saw? it's like playing music with a WII controller!

  • I like how the japanese version is more zen and is talking about the beauty of suzhou.

the chinese one is more romantic, also poetic, both are good!

  • the instrument is saw..

  • What is the name of the bowed instrument?? does anyone know?

  • @sakuramex

That's a musical saw, also called a singing saw, is the application of a hand saw as a musical instrument. I don't know well, but it sometimes used in the modern classic music.

  • @kintarouame2326 Thank you! It has a really beautiful sound! I didn't know a saw could be bowed :O

  • During the Ching dynasty, Korea is known as "Little China". Japanese has been using the Han writing for ages. They all understand each other easily. There is no reason why these Asian countries cannot be united.

  • Absolutely great singer!

Btw, what is the instrument played other than the piano? never seen something like that before.

  • IS this Ann Sally? The one who song The days and wine and roses.

Chinese and Japanese should be friends. We have so many cultural tastes in common. I guess no other nationals other than the Chinese and Japanese can appreciate this song better. Let begones be begones. Future is more important.

  • Yoshi! I completely agree with you.

  • @lajabo0009

Japanese war crimes should not be forgotten. That's the only way to ensure that the same mistakes will not be made.

That's the whole point of studying history.

  • @lajabo0009 Well there's certainly nothing that can prevent chinese and japanese people be friends with each other. But it's the damn politicians on both side that trys to divide and conquer and makes us hate each other.

Chinese, Japanese, whoever, doesn't matter, we are all human beings and there is certainly no reason why one human being can't be friend with another. FUCK nationalism!

  • @lajabo0009

I am also from China, and i appreciate your idea so much!

  • not really,it was complicated issue cannot just be white and black

  • The sun is rising from west, sinking in the the east ?

The moon and stars are in the day, the sun at the night ?

Father gave birth to you ?

  • Whom do you refer to? This is Ann Salley the singer who doesn't seem born in WW2 yet ? You are just crazy out of your mind.

  • They spelled her name differently. Couldn't listen to this until now. This is a truly beautiful song. I love her album version very soulful. Is Suzhou Nocturne a traditional Japanese song? I know it has historical with references to Suzhou obviously. However is there any more traditional Japanese songs of this kind that I can look into. Would be truly grateful for any suggestion.

  • Hi digiblood. It might be difficult to list em, coz the song was specifically written for the female singer, Yoshiko Yamaguchi (Li Xianglan: Chinese name, Shirley Yamaguchi in English). I give you two below anyway. The Tokyo Blues sung by Awaya Noriko was written by the same poet and composer but... Maybe better to look up by the singer's name, Li Xianglan.
