No, it was going to be a Mac and PC game like their other games, such as Myth and Oni. Steve Jobs showed it at Macworld as an example of what the Mac could handle for games. Microsoft needed a flagship title for their new console the Xbox, so they offered to buy out Bunige, in return they would finance Halo. Bungie agreed, seeing it as a way of joining the "big leagues" and also because of a recall of Myth II, which costed Bungie a lot of money putting them in debt, I believe.

@xtremescript Of course the PS2 would have a large Disadvantage against the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are alot like a computer. Both there CPU's are evenly clocked the GPU on the PS3 is severely better. Further more DirectX is easy to code in making it the easiest way for developers. The PS3 has very mind blowing exclusives that take advantage of the power of the PS3. I own every console since 2000 besides, the WII who like the WII? My opinion for these are not always this bias.

PS2 came out before the Xbox. The Gamecube was not any more of a "kids" system than the PS2. The Xbox always suffered from a smaller library of games, since it was a new system, but besides Halo it also boasted XBL and better, more PC-centric hardware. Of course PS2 "won" that generation, because it had pretty much every game you could want. I'm sorry, but are you basing this off experience or what you read online?
