  • TAKING MONEY FROM THE POOR. DISGUSTING.

  • So if fox considers it income, then he paid 1,175,000 into the system. Then they are bitching that he is using food stamps? Never mind that he is still has no income coming in? I am scratching my head.....

  • HEY WEEZIE LETS LOAD UP THE TRUCK AND MOVE TO MICHIGAN!

  • HEY WEEZIE LETS LOAD UP THE TRUCK AND MOVE TO MICHIGAN!

  • I hope he got a hair cut before all the money was gone. Or, is that somethg the government provides as well?

  • He's broke now I just looked him up. He and his son on that show were hilarious. His son is an absolute moron.

  • @bigfnshooter hahaha! incredibly idiotic people.

  • Is this leech broke yet? Absolutely disgusting parasite scumbag. he is everything that is wrong with western civilisation The tight fisted lottery winner isnt much better

  • Though I know if this were a Black person people would be a lot more harsh & even racist in their opinions, I must be true to how my response would be, though this man is white.

Having less than $1M dollars does NOT make you rich & let's not forget he won $2M dollars but only received 49% of his winnings. Which means he paid at least 31% in federal taxes. He's paid for his use of that card. He's not a millionaire and the way his son is going through his money the guy will be broke soon anyways!

  • He got what he deserved - he's broke and in jail for illegal possesion of a control substance. Complete POS........

  • @shananagins5 what do you know? He probably has more money management skills than you ever would as a peasant. He probably uses foodstamps because he's that much of a penny pincher.

  • @jguy27 poor people like you are always the ones saying a million isn't a lot. Idiot. If you don't spend like a moron, it can go a pretty long way. Hell, people live off 20,000 a year.

50 million could go in a year too if you misspend. Its called budgeting, money management.

  • If he took the lump sum payment for the lottery wouldnt that mean he has too many assets and thus is ineligible for food stamps assistance?

  • BTW he is broke now and facing jail time on a non related charge. Karma sure is a bitch!

  • newts face would concave if he saw this

  • IF HE WAS A COP NOBODY WOULD SAY A THING!!!!

  • Unbelievable!!

  • This is what I call white trash. Both of them.

  • Comment removed

  • @lucy9359 wait a min..... depends where in canada you live, we still call people white trash and its not down here as well, we are up from the states. we dont have food stamps in canada. the province in which I live they are preety cut throut when it comes to money. our food bank checks your income before you are aloud to recive any type of food. even welfare checks your income before you get any type of pay out. so pls check all provinces before you speak for all of canada.

  • @crewlla sorry I probably shouldn't have commented I am not on welfare and I don't understand the situation I don't go to the food bank either...it must be a very difficult place to find yourself in life...I live in Ontario I grew up up in the Northern part of the province and I now live in the Southern Part and I have never heard anyone called white trash in my life other than by Americans...I think it is kind of mean actually!

  • @lucy9359 hey, I live in alberta and the expression "white trash is used alot." the expression "new money and old money" is used too. When your adult child wont move out of the house or think you owe them a living we call that "entitled" the expressions are mean.

  • @crewlla I have all daughthers none the less they are not being raised to live here beyond their college days, they are also being taught that most men are not after their brains and never marry a man who can't earn 6 figures if you are wanting to stay home with your kids...on the other hand don't make being a wife or girlfriend part of your identity, if your going to work then make sure it is for real money!!!

  • @lucy9359 I have always told my daughter to get her education, get a good job (one that you like) and make dam sure that who ever you do marry you think long and hard about it before you do. I also say, you really dont need a man for anything. I make her realize that some times marriage doesnt work. even if her father and I have been married for 20 years(from the time we were 18) doesnt mean it works out. make sure you have enough money to support yourself and whom ever you bring in.

  • @crewlla unfortuantely failed marriage has become apart of our reality in this Nation, sadly...I want them to beable to support and love a husband but take care of themselves, I guess...I have had to learn it so I am sure they can....I married a business man so I know what it is like to live in a really nice house that the banksters own...I want them to be freer than we were!!! I pray they don't have to go through divorce!!! I don't think the economy will sustain them....

  • I saw him and his idiot son on TLC... Pathetic. Very sad... The Gov should keep that 2M to pay towards the years of Welfare he's received and THEN let him have his food stamps! What a complete loser! Even his 31 year old son brags about how he's now rich & retired! Ugh! Disgust!

  • Im kind of glad to see this. I am tired of people like Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum trying to make Food Stamp uses and other entitlement programs a racial issue. Even though I do not need nor have I ever applied for Food Stamps, many Americans regardless of color and apparently income use this program.

  • He's paying that lawyer a lot more than what bread and cheese cost...

  • This guy is a sociopath. Just because he is within the law doesn't mean it is MORALLY right! Scumbag

  • Brah i juss wan d lottery i need keep dem food stamps!!!!

  • The announcer on the Lotto show looks like "Peter Brady"

  • good job Fick!!!!

  • This is more of a moral issue. Depending on your state laws, If you are unemployed and have no income, you are eligible for food stamp. Unfortunately, this man has the right to his food stamps legally under the law. But under a Moral Law, (which we don't have), this is ludicrous. How could you have so much money in the bank but feel it your right to have food stamp, when you can afford to buy your own? This man is morally bankrupted and without a conscience.

  • Leroy Fick and John Wilson. Two worthless parasites.

  • That lawyer is a douche!

  • I can see why its a contreversy but, hey if they are gonna keep 1.1 million of the 2 million i would continue to collect!!! They guy is gonna blow through the money in a couple years, then he will qualify again so it dont matter......

  • @razorback4th fuck that if you win $850,000 you don't need food stamps.

  • thats so fucked up. theres hundreds of thousands of hungry americans that dont qualify for stamps and are broke. but this fuking asshole does? thats pure greed right there.

  • Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. It's a moral issue & helping your country, much like the military does, by not taking money that you don't need & creating more debt for our country (remember united we stand). We have some military friends (we love them), but they get food stamps for their family of 4, but still have money for alcohol, trips, fancy cell phones & other things. They own two new vehicles, a house, and want another child. I'm not sure what to think

  • Piece of shit. Lowlife prick

  • What a piece of shit . Lowlife.

  • He has no right to food stamps if he has that much money! There are many poor who are starving.

  • he should be able to continue to use them

  • Comment removed

  • The biggest problem with Food Assistance is that it counts income not resources. The winnings that he got from winning the lottery would count as income for the month he received it, but it would be considered a resource for ongoing months. They seriously need to reform this and other government programs.

  • Those "busybodies" at the grocery store were pissed off that their tax money goes to a rich man!

His whole argument is, "Well, I CAN, so..." Ever hear of something called morals, Leroy? You piece of work.

That lawyer has no shame either.

  • Someone else needs those food stamps....hello.............

  • Shame! This scumbag wants more on top of the money he won! Are you kidding me!

  • He looks like a nice man. Do they seriously have to demonize him?

  • He can afford a layer...

  • That is sick! what's wrong with America? Food Stamps is made to buy food not Lottery. I hurt of people trade their Food Stamp for cashes or having Food stamps people buy them food and in return for cashes.

  • OK, a man dies and leaves his family with 2 million dollars in life insurance but that's all they have to live on, and they still qualified for food stamps, would you say it is OK for them to continue using food stamps????!!!!!

  • The FOX chick is such a bitch!

  • well the thing is $850,000 isnt really that much. even in today's society 1 million dollars isnt that much money. so i dont see what is wrong with this guy still being on food stamps? if he had 10 or 20$ million then i could understand, but shit i could probably blow up $850,000 in 3 months. and i do agree he doesn't know if he will be alive 10 to 20years from now as everyday is somewhat a risk and isnt guaranteed, so he did the smart thing by taking the lump sum! i would to and im only 18!

  • @mukaikof $850,000 cash isn't that much? 99% of the American population doesn't have $850,000 in the bank.

  • @AEproductions89 well maybe your right...... but im saying just because this guy won a lot of money, dont take away his food stamp rights/or social security checks/benefits. because remember... he wasn't born with $850,000 dollars... he was probably on food stamps/gov benefits his whole life and he just won this large sum of money recently. now if he was making $850,000 a year salary for the past 20years that would be a different story. just let the guy keep his food stamps!

  • @mukaikof Meanwhile Mr. Leroy Fick can flaunt around town spending $45,000 on a brand new Camaro, $6,500 in 1 day at the local Pawn Shop, buying his stupid son whatever wants, a brand new 3D television etc.....yet he still has to rely on the government to give him food stamps? There's something wrong with that picture. There are people who work all day and STILL barely have enough money to feed their family. This guy is taking advantage of the system.

  • @AEproductions89 yeah but i mean he "Won" the money, it's not like somebody gave him the money on a silver platter or like the government rewarded him with money, with the lottery all is risks and nothing is guaranteed, many play the lotto. only a few win! so he was one of the few. and the government are crooks anyways, so let this guy have the money... who the hell spends 6500$ at the pawn shop? are you pulling this out of your ass?

  • @mukaikof I most certainly am not. Go to my channel and watch Leroy & his son Jeff on TLC's "The Lottery Changed My Life." Perhaps you will have a different view on him. It's definitely an entertaining episode.

  • @mukaikof He really did spend $6,500 at a pawn shop. He, and his son are total idiots & they will be broke again shortly. Watch the video The Lottery Changed My life Leroy Fick

  • @shananagans5 lol i guess your right then, i would only spend$6,500 on groceries, not at the pawn shop. i love to eat, so iwould spend so much money on food. this idiot should have just put the money i the bank and waited for 5years to let it grow past 1million. then just live off the interest! $70k interest a year for 1 million dollars, then he would never have to work again. peple are just so impatient when it comes to money

  • @shananagans5 I watched him a couple of weeks ago on Lottery Changed my life. I thought that was that same guy. He and son was going through that money like water.

  • @Jguy27 lol Yea, we will eventually see him on The Lotto Ruined My Life. Probably sooner than later. I think he has no concept of a million dollars & is just spending freely. Kinda like people that have been poor their entire lives & think 1 million can buy anything they ever want & will last forever.

  • @shananagans5 I agree. He'll soon join the other ones with the lottery curse and like u said lottery ruined my life. A million dollars especially today is not a lot. You can blow that up in under a year. :)

  • 850k is not "a rich man's" salary.

That is one winning, NOT A SALARY !

If he had that kind of income, that would be much different.

  • the bigger picture is the way the state has responded to this idiot, "yeah, you still qualify to recieve stamps". What else is the state doing or wasting tax money on? And why didnt the network inlude the agent that still is giving him the checks?

  • Long live Leroy boy!

  • chuck norris is, the government.

  • eight hundred and fifty thousand is really not all that much. maybe enough to live comfortably for a few years, but nothing more.

  • People are ****en stupid. This man did NOT pay $1.15 million in taxes. He received a lump sum as stated in the video, meaning HE chose to get $850,000 at once instead of 2 million (minus taxes) over 10, 20, 30, or whatever years the show would have taken to pay him 2 million.

What he's doing may not be illegal, but I think it is morally wrong.

  • this is why our fucking country is they way it is. he wins 2mill and still can get food stamps?

  • Smart man!!!!! Keep getting those stamps since you've paid over 1 mill..

  • Leroy paid $1,150,000m taxes. Whatever food stamp he collected and now collecting for the rest of his life, is way much less than what he paid for his taxes. So leave him alone...he is support your children too by paying for their education, the parks, the street you're walking on. We should be thanking him for the $1.1m taxes.

  • @shawny93 That is very true. I guess there is nothing to angry about huh?

  • @shawny93 I pay taxes, too, and I don't collect food stamps.

  • Comment removed

  • @shawny93 The state lottery paid those taxes. He didn't earn that money. No matter who won the jackpot the taxes were going to be paid.

  • $1,150,000.00 deducted from money he *earned* should be good for close to five hundred (500) years of food stamps (at $200.00/month).

  • He got robed so we get robed ! Bunch of crooks !

  • @rosscol601 TRUE

  • ledge

  • I understand that maybe he is still eligible for food stamps, however, what child who is hungry is he taking food away from?

  • The real abusers of welfare

  • LEROY paid his taxes 1.2 million dollars worth!

  • Okay, Michigan needs some means testing, but probably not as severe as the means testing in Missouri. In Missouri combined assets of $1000 (car, house, bank accounts, anything) disqualifies you. So if you need that van with the wheel chair lift to get to the grocery store - you can't get food stamps in Missouri. If you are going into default on your mortgage, and kids are starving in the bad economy in Missouri you can't get them either. THAT is the downside of means testing. Find a middle.

  • He really is not a rich man. According to Michigan law he is eligible. And I thought he was a scumbag!

  • Not sure if each state has their own rules, but I know in MA ( which is also closed to bankruptcy ) does not count assets at all if you are over 60. So theoretically , I guess a non-working millionaire at 60 plus qualifies for food stamps under the current rules which may include all states if that is a Federal rule.

  • The man has NO PRIDE, like most welfare/food stamp collectors.

I hope he loses that money somehow, show him a lesson. Pathetic man.

  • People don't win the lottery, government does.

  • Sure, keep stealing greebees from hard working tax payers with enough money in the bank to pay a poor man's wages for years. This man is a disgrace to decent society.

Gee Gregg, so you'd do it too! A real man doesnt take freebees intended for those down on their luck. A real man also understands that. This man is a pathetic scum.

  • I'd do it too. The government stole over half of his winnings. So hell yeah, keep getting that money!!!!!

  • You people are the reason this once great country will crumble! You feel like your entitled to everything just cause your an American! Entitlements are ruining this country! Get off your lazy as* and work for your food! You all need to realize what you are doing and STOP! Is it fair or just for some guy working his tail off to feed his wife and two kids to pay taxes so this A hole who just won 2 mill to get food for free?!?!?! He is taking food off of the hard working guys table, his kids ge

  • @DarkOps2442 Retard where the hell do you think his 1,150,000 went? Taxes,so if this guy wants food stamps, fuck it!

  • @DarkOps2442 the government took $1,510,000 he only got 850,000,, not even 100 years of food stamps would pay him back,,

  • Give him the fuckin food stamps he's gonna need them $800,000 is not alot of money I can spend that much 1 night at a strip club boo woo you greedy sons of bitches you'll get what's coming for you!!

  • He unwillingly gave $ 1,150,000 of his money to the fucking government. SO FUCKING WHAT IF HE TRIES TO GET SOME OF IT BACK?

  • WTF!!!!! He won 2 million dollars but only received $850,000 of it? Wow, that is such a rip off. He lost $1,150,000. That's fucking crazy.

  • @Thedarksecret1 That's right but he shouldn't be collecting food stamps.

  • @fashionhistorylover I totally agree with you on that.

  • @Thedarksecret1, that is the REAL STORY here. The one that flew right over Fox News' head.

  • @Thedarksecret1 It was his choice, he chose to get it all at once instead of many payments over several years.

  • @samuricex I understand but that's still a substantial chunk. Besides, I would take all of my money too. There's no guarantee he's going to be alive 20 years from now. Judging from his age, I can understand why he would take the money now. Did you see the video?

  • @Thedarksecret1 thats what happens when u collect it in a lump sum.

  • @calfan3 Hell, wouldn't you collect it in a lump sum? There's no guarantee you're going to be alive in 20 to 25 years. Besides, have you seen how old this man looks. I don't blame him for taking all the money while his heart's still beating.

  • @Thedarksecret1 HAHA, yea ur right, but when its a "small" amount of money like 2 million dollars, id rather have a steady amount of money coming in, than getting the 800K which would only last so long.... :S

  • @Thedarksecret1 tell me about it, I fuckin hate taxes.. Damn goverment will always want a piece of the pie

  • @Thedarksecret1 That's what you get for living in the United States. We pay no taxes on lottery winnings in Canada.

  • Go to my channel to watch Leroy Fick & his son Jeff on 'The Lottery Changed My Life.'

  • @Thedarksecret1 probably taxes made the 2 million smaller.

  • @Thedarksecret1 it's taxes. You didn't know that? it sucks unless you live/win in a state with no taxes.

  • @Thedarksecret1 You're missing the bigger point.

  • @Thedarksecret1 I agree.

  • too much money, too much time on his hands.... but im glad this is being shown white people can be a**holes too when it comes to welfare

  • I know a great lotto system that really DOES work!

    Check out my site

  • This is what 80 years of entitlement programs lead to.

  • Why the hell do old people always win the lottery?? Why can't I young guy like me win?!?!

  • What a useless old prick.

  • Lump sums are not considered income for food stamp purposes.

  • And they say welfare rollbacks are racist. What nonsense. They're because of assholes like this greedy Scrooge.

  • I don't understand this. I have a friend who is LEGALLY on disability. She inherited a house from her dad, that is only worth about 12k. Her disability payments have stopped because of a "windfall" But sadly it's only costing her money in RE taxes and attorney fees because no one can find the title. This world is really unfair!

  • Fox News.com = theOnion.com

  • @Watnawootie

Can you hear Peter Griffin reading your comment and going: " Haaaaaaaaaaaaa....hhh"?

  • Maybe legal but not moraly right

  • @Mjolbaggar Exactly... Thing is, his lawyer says "He's not breaking any laws. He's not a crook. He's not a cheat..." But seriously, foodstamps are for people and families who can't afford to feed themselves and this guy can. It is NO different than a person on disability who has a back problem and suddenly their back issues have been fixed. There is now no reason why they can't support themselves, even if for a short time, the point is they are now capable of sustaining their own life.

  • this is just one out of the millions that is abusing the system...

  • @ThePsychologyGuy Really? Millions of people have won $850K and continue to use their food stamp cards? LOL.

  • Yup. If this guy was black Faux News would be ripping this guy apart. Guy is still a douche bag taking advantage of system

  • If this guy's name was Leroy "Pookie" Jenkins and not Leroy Fick, Fox News would've been ALL OVER this.

  • I knid of feel bad for the old man. He seems honest enough to find out if he should turn his card in, but if you are poor for a long time then you keep the mentality to utilize whatever assets you can...its not wrong, he just got use to living in survival mode. But furthermnore, 850,000 really isn't a lot of money...Now if it was millions, that's another story.

On the other hand, I work for a non-profit agency and make just enough to not qualify for any help, am educated and poor as dirt. :-(

  • this is going to be a disadvantage for people who are really poor and really need help. this man has no soul.

  • What's the problem here?

All 535 members on Capital Hill are the BIGGEST WELFARE recipients & have well over a million dollars from lobbyist and Wall-Street.... Why isn't the media walking up the steps on Capital Hill and asking each of the 535 welfare recipients, why they CONTINUE to receive govt. welfare compensation and welfare health packages while maintaining millions from Wall-Street and Capital Hill lobbyist????

  • This man is a "cheat" a "loser" and doesn't give a shit if some who needs this help and this moron thinks he's doing a good thing. What a piece of human excrement.

  • Fick is still smug and defiant. Just like the CEOs that got the bailouts.

  • @MrMartianLove Really? Wow. I guess then he's just really incompetent.

  • The govenment took half because they have to pay for overabused benefits such as foodstamps.

  • I'm sure he's getting dividends from interest earned if he has any money in the bank and that would qualify as income. It irritates me that he feels busy bodies "turned him in". If this man wanted to, he could at least donate the food he gets with food stamps to a local food bank. He obviously has no conscience.

  • Thank the lord for busybodies.

I don't agree with this man *at all*, but isn't it a shame that if you win $2 million, the gov't. gets *more than half*???

  • @LisaBaby67 He took a lump sum, probably because he's old. Some lotteries pay out the full prize over many years, or let you take a smaller lump sum right away. They don't mention how much of the lump sum the government took, maybe none if they don't consider it something to consider for food stamp allocation.

  • @newguy33X Yeah, my husband told me later that he heard the guy took the lump sum - which cuts the pot in half in Michigan. Still, that's an awful lot of money for the government to take from the winnings. (The guy said he got what, about $800,000? So yeah, the gov't. took a lot.)

  • I guess Michigan owes a debt of gratitude to the "busy bodies at the grocery store" for turning this guy in for fraud. Good job, ladies! At least SOMEONE is paying attention. Keep it up!

  • I guess some rich people actually deserve to be hated.

  • hes smart

  • his winnings are classified as liquid assets, which are not subject to food stamp eligibility; it's his gross income that determines his eligibility for food stamps.

obviously fox wasn't going to bring this up even though it's in every single article about this story. so it's not exactly a loophole, he's operating within the system as it's designed.
