  • i love a good mandolin

  • that alison krauss is something else!!!!!!!!!!

  • "her voice moves me to tears"...yep, me too. it also makes me want to claw my ear drums out...

  • @clois151 if you don't like her voice, then why are you listening to her? That's your own fault for watching the video and listening to her sing if you want to "claw your ear drums out" by listening to it...

  • @gamlastanarn 1990

  • nice song and good singer thumbs up from me Noel

  • @TSIMFAUKAS

Those people you listed are over paid, over priced, over rated, talentless bimbos not one of whom have a shred of musical talent in the least bit, absolute garbage and an insult to be mentioned on this video.

Some greedy asshole is laughing up in a boardroom as we speak because your one of the millions brain-washed by a false, pre-packaged sense of "reality" they forcefeed you over the TV. I hope you do get better for your own sake.

  • 354,126 views to date, of one of the most beautiful performances I've ever witnessed. 5.5 million views for a metal song titled "Sic." I think it's obvious why the world is headed to hell in a hand basket.

  • Thanks!

  • I DANCED GRABING MY BELT :D :D :D

  • Allison has the purest voice Ive ever heard and her fellow musos are just outstanding.. love this song :-)

  • Yippeee I'm dying!! Let's party !!!!

    Seriously these people are masters.

  • I don't believe she has had surgery.

  • where can i download this version of the song?

  • Love it!!

  • Man, these modern-day ALL STARS sure give this timeless Carter Family classic a fantastic contemporary going-over. Just great to see old Grisman in action on-stage here, once again. AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM .. when it comes to greats like David. Good as ever !! And don't this say somethin' about great, timeless songs like this one .. they REMAIN GREAT by virtue of their suitability to flexible arrangement & adaptation over different generations of the finest musicians god ever put breath into.

  • Schatz is pulling some tone!!

  • Alison's voice is so amazing, and she sings it so effortlessly.

  • This is pure music. Not Deadmau5, Not Justin Fuckhead Beaver, Not Miley Cyrus the Untalented ugly cunt. This. THIS is music. ..

  • Beautiful early AK, so pure and true; are there any more; I have not been able to find them

  • Wow, Allison Krause on fiddle and vocals, J.D. on Banjo, doing a great Carter Family song to perfection. Man, what more could a bluegrass fan ask for?

  • @md65000 Tony Rice on guitar. Oh wait! :P

  • @OnDaDyrell Now that I think about it... "Bluegrass All-Stars" ...hmm, it's all starting to make sense to me now. :P

  • AND DAT PURDY YOUNG LADY.

  • GOD BLESS VIRGINIA.

  • I am from Greece and i find this music so beautifull !!!

  • I think Remember this one, Or maybe not, although last time I saw Alison Krauss I had a camera boom in my face half the night ha ha ; )

  • This heart is crying so loud that it's breaking mine

  • I saw Alison at Merlefest when she was just a youngster. She was like Sarah Jarosz is now...a true prodigy.

  • Hafta say I really prefer the OLD Alison.......Before all the Hollywood glitz and glamour videos!!! And I think there was grit & substance to her voice back then. Jus' sayin'...

  • 11 people are jealous

  • this is bluegrass !!!!

  • I'm 15 and this is the way to go! Love it!

  • Yeah, beautiful. She had her nose fixed, her teeth fixed, thank God they didn't do anything to her voice. She is one of the only true bluegrass/country voices with a chance at hit maybe alternative radio now. True talent is always beautiful.

  • Nice to get away from Rock N Roll and listen to something acoustic and beautiful like this. Nothing against rock music.

  • Perfect in every way.

  • i love it

  • oh my goodness im 14 and this to me is real music

  • @reellyme

You are blessed to recognize good music when you hear it. It all starts in the heart and has nothing to do

with fads etc. This music endures forever.

  • Best version ever! Alison has stolen an angel's voice for sure.

  • Allison Krauss has picked up some of Dolly's mannerisms in her voice. Beautiful rendition of a great old song!

  • 100 out of 10 - this song does it for me

  • no rap - no crap - no shakin that ass

just pure good ole music and talent right before your eyes

  • Alison Krauss, The sweetest voice in bluegrass, bar none!!

  • boooooooooooooooooooo

  • Nick-I gotta tell ya. She got better with age.

  • @Hopkins1148 Yeah, fun to see these old videos of Alison before she became a beautiful superstar. And the most Grammy winning female artist of all time.

  • damn the chick singing looks like shrek lol

  • @nickgratton1 Nick? You are a dip shit.

  • Alison Krauss, her voice moves me to tears. Accompanied with great pickers, my soul is filled with such joy.

  • @shishimore I've heard it said a lot that if an angel came down from heaven to sing here on earth they would sound just like Allison Krauss. I believe that's pretty close to right. RN

  • Beautiful voice....

  • Well, it doesn't work when I try to view it :-(

  • Video doesn't work anymore :(

  • @G2993600 yes it does

  • I think you and Mindy need to jam togather. Love you TWO

  • I love hearing country music, especially when sung with an american accent.... ;)

  • @meanster100 - country music is best when sung with a southern drawl

  • nice!

  • Sounds awesome but looks funny....

  • Too bad the music is out of sink with the video.

  • @flatopguy

WOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF UR GONNS LEAVE A MESSAGE THEN LEAVE ONE WORTH WRITING ABOUT X

  • the best version ive heard apart from my dads of course x

  • Anyone know how old this is? Alison looks to be about 16. I remember seeing this on TV right after I was first introduced to Alison by sister who had just seen her perform live at the Steak n Ale on I-10 in Houston. She got her autograph on a napkin in the ladies restroom. A few years later (1991) we drove all the way from TX to OH to see her perform at a bluegrass festival. We said back then "What a songbird, she'll go to the top" Look at her know...........

  • Lastima que el video no se ve a tiempo, pero la chica tiene una voz muy rica y los musicos bien relax, se ve que disfrutan lo que hacen, me encanto!!! Un abrazo desde Venezuela!

  • The you sir need the Rice and Skaggs version, which I cannot find free anywhere. I hear it once in a blue moon on Xm radio.....Its the best version by far of this song.

  • buy it online !

  • I like when they do rollin in my sweet baby's arms. I had the honor of watching allison w/ robert plant at roo 08'.

  • Good drinkin music...

  • Alison's voice and fiddle brings tears to my eyes. She is a giant.

  • When I die...please bury me beneath the willow and have these guys play the gig!!!

  • Aborigine Blue grass. he he

  • Wow! Talk about an all star lineup!

  • @Larryk12308 LoL, you have NO idea what a real all star line up is!! imagine Lady GaGa (best<3), Taylor Swift, Ke$ha, Justin Beiber and PaRaMoRe!!!!! BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TSlMFAUKIS dont embarrass yourself with a comment like that on a REAL music video.

  • @TSlMFAUKIS It's incredible how easily you have played into the hands of the marketing guru's who produced, packaged and sold those knock off artists to you. I don't think you could be any more of a follower, unless you added Rihanna to that insane list of yours.

  • Beautiful!

  • so easy a caveman can do it

  • This will ALWAYS be my favorite bluegrass song and not another soul on this earth could sing it as sweetly as Alison.

  • then and always an angel in my eyes

  • Comment removed

  • i see what you mean

  • @Sebakswe

I always tried to find the missing link between a dumb fuck and an asshole- seems I found it right now!

  • Apparently you've already filled that spot.

  • What a magnificent voice she has

  • 10/10

  • excellent

  • It's spelled presentation.... just saying

  • presintation,,is what its all about,,flow& sound,,the face,,does not produce either,,the coments about face,,HOW IS YOUR BANK ACCOUNT???

  • Aw, the nose??? So rude!

  • This is bluegrass at it's finest. Some people need to quit nitpicking every single thing about the video and just listen to the music!

  • Back in the late 80's or early 90's i caught The Lonesome Pine Specials one night and Allison and Union Staion played an instrumental. i had tears in my eyes it was so beautiful. ok, i acutually sobbed I have yet to hear it again. Anyone help me figure out which song it was?

  • forgotten pictures from the too late to cry album?

  • no that isnt it thanks anyways !!!!

  • You can tell she listened to a lot of Dolly growing up...Sounds a whole lot like her.

  • Great players but a poor quality posting. The lowframe rate makes everyone strobic.

  • She might not be so pretty here but she sure as hell can sing!!!!!!!!!! Then and now!!!!!!!!

  • @clearevil

You can buy a new nose.

But you can´t buy a new voice. Leave it at that.

  • This is about 15 yrs ago. She grew up, slimmed down and made a fortune.

  • So...you're saying you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to the conversation?

  • the voice of an angel...

  • Wow Alison did well with her looks! Money is a good thing ;)

  • hands down , best version out there...

  • agreed. the voice is killer

  • a stage crowded with bluegrass-phenomenons! 2 thumbs up!

  • I love the voice of Alison and bluegrass

  • I love the music and artists but Grisman drives me nuts. All the way back since Muleskinner he acts like a spaz. I don't expect anyone to stand still and not enjoy the music but there's a line drawn for everything.

  • LOL It's almost like

Jerry Garcia being there .. or

    You're just no fun

  • Draw the line wherever you want buddy! Draw it in the sand so i can mess that mother up! Thile, Grisman, Bush, ME... We all feel what we play! That line is all in ur head dude, therefore it is up ur A#$!

  • Way wrong dude watch Eric Clapton, Sam Bush, countless others

  • Alison Krauss has an amazing voice! WOW!!

  • Ever notice how much she sounds like Jeannie Kendall (Heaven's Just a Sin Away)?

  • Truly AMAZING!

Thank you for sharing this video.

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • Some great talent, playing together here .. & boy, doesn't it show !! I just love the opening mandolin work from that grand old veteran, Dave Grisman. Alison's sweet voice is just classic old-time genuine-sounding .. reminds me of several of the old time female legends when I close my eyse & just listen to that voice. This particular song also lends itself to 3 & 4 part background harmony work, coming in behind the lead vocal on the choruses .. Carter Family style ...

  • beautiful voice

  • Allison has a heavenly voice, doesn't she????

  • oh good, thats fine music. like we say in ghothenburg "göött!!!"

  • THATS ALLISON CRAUSE! SHE is the hottest woman alive man. Look her up present time.

  • Nice sentiment but you might right away get her name straight! ;) It's Alison Krauss!

  • Comment removed

  • What the heck have you been smokin, boy??? She's a pretty foxy chick, and sings like an angel. Get some glasses!!

  • beuatiful voice

  • Beautiful to my ears, only wish my grandmother could hear she use to sing this song to me as a child.

  • Allison is fantastic no doubt about it.

And she always has the awesome musicians around her.

  • wow this is old

  • i get chill listening to this tune I love it!

  • Has anyone seen Alison perform a song about the Lost Boys of the Alleganey. I is truely one of her finest tributes. If anyone could post it. Thanks

  • It is already posted!

  • can you help me out? Do I have the name right. can you send me a link or just post it right here.

  • The song is called "Jacob's Dream".

  • Thanks a mill.

  • I absolutely LOVE this tune!

    Thanks for sharing.

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • gee, i first recognised allison only by her voice. still - great as two great things.

  • I'm old enough to remember when Dolly started playing on Porter Wagoner's show and she was no where near as "dolled" up as she became later on. To me, that's the Dolly that Alison reminds me of in this video. Both had huge potential talent and were less polished than they became later in their careers. In some ways, I prefered them that way.

  • What year was this made?Does anybody know? Also all the comments are spot on about Allison and her upgrades on her appearence! I am not saying she wasn't pretty back then but I will say she has come along way after Union Station formed and she was probably incouraged to do so by T.V people that wanted her to look her best on national television as you know people can be very cruel especially ones who are jealous of her talents and would use her looks to have reason to turn the channel!IMHO

  • Wow her nose is a completely different shape from now. Weird. She was very pretty. Pretty young in this clip. And she DOES sound like Dolly!

  • isnt it weird? dolly was/is one of her biggest influences

  • i recon shes hot!

  • well i apologize, i diden't mean my comment the way it sounded! I think she is an incredible performer! But just noting how much she has changed. really if you think of two words "female" and "Bluegrass" you think of Allison. she will alway's be a favorite.

  • Finally a point of view I can't disagree with and how much poorer would all our lives have been if God hadn't created Alison?! Its obvious that you have great taste after all. :o)

  • david grisman and toni rice are amazing..

  • You can get a better haircut and a better make up but you cannot get a better brain...

  • Oh Heavens, never would I step out on Alison! She was much younger then, and as someone stated, looked simple, but loveable! And for the best, she was a great musician even then and is till nowadays. Only nowadays she looks more "Hollywood", but I still love and adore her. Sorry if my comment above came out wrong.... I´m from Austria, not a native eglishspeaker, maybe that´s why.

  • Okay, no hard feelings.

  • one50racer, I have to agree about getting fixed up. Please don't say she was ugly. (Just simple!)

  • Most of the men in bluegrass are as ugly as sin itself but you don't see them rushing down to the plastic surgeon's office for treatment! Does pure, unadulterated, GOD given talent count for nothing? BTW close your eyes and she sounds uncannily like Dolly in this clip.

  • Fantastic. She has such a nuanced voice, very distinctive, quite appealing.

  • wow.

  • love this tune

  • the voice of alison!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is looooovely :)

  • WOWwhoa..... just another reminder of why im in love with both she and bluegrass.

  • what a wonderful voice

  • An old Carter Family song?

  • I understand that it was recorded in 1923 by Henry Whitter and later recorded by the Carter family as their "first" recording in 1927. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
