@yippyyipy I think, because the English script is not what it was originally written in, it doesn't really matter how you anglicise it, and there is no "correct" spelling. I've been to the town, and on the signs it's Dehra Dun ;)
It was typical for the balance of power within the Beatles that songs like Dehra Dun, Sour Milk Sea and Not Guilty did not receive proper recognition at the time, while stuff like Wild Honey Pie and Revolution no.9 made it on to The White Album.
For the fans who don't know: This song was written after George and his boys visited Dehra Dun city during their Rishikesh visit in 1968-69. I'm glad, that my hometown got a song from George. R.I.P
Beautiful demo. George sings it lovely, so sweet, and feeling in his heart the indian singing style. So beautiful, very especially at the end of each phrase when he finishes Dehra Dehra Duuuhhnn... He catches the atmosphere of the beautiful indian classical vocal music. I´ve been to Rishikesh and I found the ashram by myself. It looked abandoned but still lovely. I felt as if they´d been there a hundred years ago. All things must pass...
I like this picture, too. It's one of my personal favourites. He's so handsome. :) And I agree that he had great hair, Many women (including me ;)) would like to have hair like that.
alot of people dont know this but the beatles did this song but it was electric thats why paul remembers it when he was making those electric guitar noises.

@Marsteef a valid point, but had it not been for george wild honey pie wouldn't have been on the album. it wasn't a serious song, just an experiment.

George is the only guy I know who can cross Celtic Folk with Hinduism and have it mesh divinely.

Its not any mantra...Dehra Dun is name of a city in India..It's actually my hometown...
Beatles came to India long back and stayed in an adjacent city called Rishikesh. Don't know why the song is on Dehra Dun though :)
