I am critical of the way some police officers behave though. They are not beyond the law and should be accountable like other public servants are. They should definitely not act illegally which attacking members of the public and assaulting them is.

Some police officers do act illegally, they are not held to account properly and they sometimes do attack members of the public as is clear from the video of Ian Tomlinson & a further video released today of a woman suffering an unprovoked attack by a police officer. It is also clear to people that turn up to demonstrations & witness police brutality.
