Okay, Caniard. Yes, I'd probably agree with you that it was specifically designed that Alice might give that Banker's Gamble a shot. But it's not "staged" as "staged" usually means, like the entire show was designed as a stunt. To "stage" the show, they would have to make Alice pick the six boxes out of the seven that didn't have the 1p, after she dealt. If that failed, Alice would have been left having made a deal she didn't want to make. That's not a risk Endemol would take.

Instead, they came up with the idea that if 1p/250,000 were to turn up, they would then offer the Banker's Gamble. But they would not stage the show to make those two be the last two boxes. They preferred to wait until it actually happened.
