  • Looking into an Acer with near identical specs... But the processor is i7 2670qm rated at 2.2GHz.

Would the extra .2 GHz really make a difference?

  • @negisechan Yours has turbo boost too plus qm = quadcore series his cpu isn't quadcore

so technically yours is better and it should handle it same or even better

  • is this the 1gb 540m or the 2gb version?

  • Looks good, even with a little lag. I may buy a laptop with these specs, except 8GB RAM. Will that be good?

  • @Mailrobot Works a lot better now. I get 40-60 fps playing this game. In my opinion, 4GB RAM is more than enough.

  • bro lag tak game ni sama ini laptop wa punya sama tp 2gb ?

  • @aszkanfederation28 Kebanyakan game boleh main dengan 2 GB. Skyrim memang menggunakan 2 GB saja.

  • @dayat24 ok thanks for the information . Bro kau orang Melayu ke?

  • @aszkanfederation28 Ya, Melayu Brunei

  • I think i know why the game gets laggy over time. It is likely that your laptop gets so hot from playing skyrim that the CPU is thermal throttling to protect itself. I know because my laptop (similar specs) had that same problem while gaming before I bought a cooling pad. If you don't know what thermal throttling is just give it a search on Google.

To find out if your laptop is thermal throttling install a program to monitor CPU clock speed (I use CPU-Z) and watch for a drop in clock speed.

  • @TheSpudlyjoe Yea,h this was the problem I had with my laptop before. Turns out there was a lot of dust in the fans and vents. Cleaned them out and now the temperatures are good :D

  • @dayat24 how did you clean your laptop

  • @Mrcrow300 Get a vacuum and set it to BLOW. Then blow all the fans and vents.

  • bro,kau beli laptop ni kat kedai ke dri internet

  • @sasasa941 Saya beli dari kedai

  • @dayat24 awak duduk brunei kan tapi saya duduk malaysia dekat mana nak beli..

  • @sasasa941 Mungkin kat Plaza Low Yat ada. Laptop ini boleh dapat di banyak kedai computer.

  • I can hardly run it on medium in 30 fps.... I have a 540M; an I5-460M CPU (2.54Ghz-2.8) same on TF2 and BF3. I have the latest drivers and i did select all games in the Nivida 3d settings :/

  • 2.40ghz (3.00ghz w/turbo) 6gb ram nvidia geforce gt 540m 1gb. Can I play this game on atleast low 30-60fps? I wanna know before I buy it.

  • @Blackblade22100 You can play Skyrim on High with that :D

  • Hey for some reason when I run Skyrim on my laptop with all the settings at the lowest possible settings (540m i5-2410) I only seem to get around 15 frames. It's running off the GPU and is plugged in so it runs on it's max clocks. I am able to run games like Fallout 3 at max settings and get 35-40 fps. I even get more fps in crysis 2. What's going on :(

  • @DSLDARTH That's wierd. What GPU are you running? Try getting a new driver for it maybe.

  • @metznimbo29 latest drivers, on a 540m.

  • @DSLDARTH No I mean run Skyrim using the 540m, sometimes it runs it with your integrated graphics card.

  • @metznimbo29 yeah it's running off the GPU, I was checking it and when the game started the clocks and GPU usage went up with the game. I also set it to run off the GPU through the Nvidia control pannel.

  • @DSLDARTH Try re-installing skyrim. If you are on Steam, verify the files and defragment. Also, if you didn't already, download the latest driver.

  • this comment is by no means healpful to u but I would like to comfort u the way u comfort me when I read this video info. I have the exact same laptop specs, aspire 4750G, and i was worried that my computer is under performing with the same game settings u have. after watching ur video I realized that I'm not alone! thank u! :D

  • this is laggy

  • the game is running but it doesn't look very smooth. looks jerky and slow. i'm awaiting an xps15 but hope it runs better than this

  • oh i just read you have AA on, maybe its alright then, i could just turn AA off

  • @satodei

yes AA is really the most demanding aspect of games that is adjustable.]

  • I have a laptop with i7 2630QM 2.0 GHz and a Nvidia Geforce GT540M, but it's sometimes laggy. Should I put the graphics down?

  • @Sigheg402 Maybe it's using the Intel integrated card instead of the GT 540M. Try going to NVIDIA control panel and in the 'Manage 3D settings', preferred graphics processor should be 'High-performance NVIDIA processor'. If it's already using the GT 540M, then I'd suggest you turn down the settings.

  • @dayat24 yeah, I changed to High-performance processor, and it runs fucking smooth :D

  • I got a laptop with i5 2,9Ghz on turbo

    8gb ram

    7200rpm harddrive

    gt540m 2gb

and this lags like fuck on my comp. though i didnt BUY my skyrim, does that affect anything?

  • @tatzor It's most likely because it's using the Intel integrated card instead of the GT 540M. Try going to NVIDIA control panel and in the 'Manage 3D settings', preferred graphics processor should be 'High-performance NVIDIA processor'

  • @dayat24 Yeah thanks :) works alot better now :)))

  • @tatzor If u torrented that's probably the reason its lagging -_-

  • @psychicpsycho99 lol? nothing todo with it -_-"

  • @tatzor And also if you just likee idk but yeah try right clicking the game and click run with NVIDIA extreme graphics if torrenting it isnt the case of the lag it might be because the game is using your integrated gfx card to handle :P hoped that helped

  • The lagging after some time might be the temperatures of the gpu or/and cpu, which if exceeded, might apply throttling to the processor, by that meaning that it lowers the processors speed from 2,2ghz down to 800mhz to stop it from overheating. Just check the temperatures with gpu-z and coretemp. If it gets well above 85°C, then I've just told you the cause, if not, then I have to think about other cause that might have a part here :)

  • Which program do you use to control your graphic card performances? I mean the windows on your screen at 1.43. Thanks. I've gt 540m too.

  • @SteaPea80 That one is from Skyrim's launcher. Just click on 'Options' on the Skyrim launcher.

  • @dayat24 I precisely mean the windows on the right of the screen, not the Skyrim options.

  • @SteaPea80 Those aren't graphics card controllers. Those are Windows gadgets. One of them is used to monitor the temperature and check details of the card but no more than that. It's called GPU Meter.

  • im playing on the ultra button.

if you are using skype, you need to use skype with the Nvidia Graphic card, if not you will lag while using skype. i think this is only for they who have the gt 540m and Intel HD Graphics.

  • intel core i5 2430m 2.4 ghz

    6 gb ram

    gt540m 2gb

can this laptop handle skyrim on medium?

  • @Mootje103 Definitely

  • @Mootje103 ,I have i5 2410, 540m 2gb 4gb ram ddr3 and I run lots of mods and hd texture on 1366x768, fxaa=on , shadow=mediu, texture=high, blur=high, decals = ultra :) usually i get 30fps+ only in some areas and for a short time i get under 30fps , hope i've helped u.

  • @Mootje103 also if u didnt noticed my laptop is weaker than yours :)

  • @Mootje103 i have 6GB ram and gt540m 1GB.

and i play skyrim on the button that says ultra.

dont you worry, you can play it.

  • I can play this with everything on high at 1920x1080 with a 540m and get around 40-50 fps :L

  • @Sherbertmelon really?

  • @ANhome9800 Yep :)

  • i have the 2.4GHZ i5 and 6gig DDR3, will it still run fine ? and what settings is this on ?

  • Hi! I have a Samsung laptop, i7-2630QM Processor

(6M Cache, 2.00 GHz) with TurboBoost, GeForce GT 540M. I'm slightly worried about high temperatures (while playing games it's about 60 C (140 F) ) Would my laptop handle Skyrim?

  • @GasparDeMiurg 60C is fine.. Mine goes up to 88C, which is really really bad

  • @dayat24 lol i have a friend who's laptop runs soooo hot you cant holding for longer than a few seconds. its so so hot. and thats at idle. everyone thats had a look at it cant find a reason for it. if that tried to play a game. itd proberbly burst into flames. but he managed to play the entire crysis 1 on it at 12 - 14 fps..

  • @GasparDeMiurg laptops should be able to handle temperatures up to 85 degrees Celsius. Any higher is bad. It's impressive that you only get 60 degrees.

  • @GasparDeMiurg Man mine goes onto 102.c dont worry laptops are built for high temps, if your worried get a coooling pad

  • @GasparDeMiurg computer pcb's can usually handle up to 100C but the hotter the components run the shorter their life span will be.

  • Argh, constant laptop research and suitability for Skyrim is stressing me out!! Tempted to get on Xbox, but then no play at Uni...Does anyone have any experience with this game on the latest HP laptops? They use 1gb AMD Radeon HD 6490M? thanks!

  • Intel Core i-5

    NVIDIA GeForce 420M CUDA 2GB

will skyrim run for me ?

  • Hmm I'm playing Skyrim on my sister's laptop (Core i3, 2 gb ddr3, Nvidia 310m) and on 1280x720, High tex, low shadows, medium radial blur quality and everything else on max I was able to play at around 20-30 fps. Try lowering your shadow resolution and remove AA and play on 1280x720, the blur on that resolution makes it look like there's AA

  • @optimusdickface oh and forgot radial blur eats a lot of resources try and lower it down to low

  • @xxdanielTM93xx maybe not on all high settings...

  • Guys I'm getting a Toshiba p775 s7234

    CPU: Intel i5 4219m

    GPU: Nvidia GT 540m

    RaM: 6GB DDR3

    HDD: 720

Could I play Skyrim on high smoothly with these specs? Would it be better if I overclock the GPU?

  • Oh sorry nevermind. Haha thanks for the response guys =D

  • Hey, I was wondering if this Toshiba laptop would be good enough for Skyrim. Windows 7 64 bit

    Intel Core i7 2670QM processor

    Nvidia Geforce GT 540m

    4gb DDR3 1333Mhz memory

640gb HDD But what im unsure about is if 4gb of memory will be enough to run it on high with no problems?

  • Hey, do you think that I'd be able to play Skyrim and most modern games well with this Toshiba Satellite laptop? Would you recommend a better laptop for around the same price range?

    Windows 7 64-bit

    Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor

    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M with NVIDIA® Optimus™ Technology

    4GB DDR3 1333MHz memory

    640GB HDD

    thanks!

  • @imaspurfan1 not exactly that fond of Toshiba (because several Toshiba laptops I've owned had overheating and structural issues), but yes, that should be good enough for gaming.

Though, to get the best experience with the Intel HD graphics and applications, whether they use the integrated graphics or not, you may want to try a bit more memory.

  • @imaspurfan1 The GT 540M is great for modern games. It can easily run most modern games on high. However, I'm not a fan of Toshiba laptops, mostly because they're overpriced IMO.

I'd recommend you to find a laptop with GT 555M though. They're getting more common these days and they're usually around the same price list with GT 540M laptops.

  • Mines have the same spec but have 8GB RAM... but very smooth... i can't see any laggy.. but may be because of the driver since mine have the latest NVIDIA driver...

  • @imaspurfan1 You don't have 1333Mhz memory btw. Only like really good Alienware laptops have that.. I'd bet that you have PC10600 i.e. 1060Mhz Ram...

  • @imaspurfan1 ASUS N55SF Is a good bet for what your after :)

  • Sounds of this game are so realistic

  • Will it work on my laptop?Specs are: intel i3 2.4ghz 3mb cache dual-core,gt540m 2gb video card,6gb 1333ghz ram.

  • KILL THE "POOR" OLD WOMAN! She is actually a witch! She has a hidden basement by her bed too. 8)))))

  • Please tell me why is this game lagging to me if I have the same Graphic card..

    My Notebook:

    4GB RAM

    Intel Core i3-380M

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, 1GB VRAM

  • @Dunil009 you must choose in graphics drivers to run the games on GT540M not on Optimus :) Write me back when you try It... I dont know how exactly switch it, look around google for more info ;)

  • @Dunil009 Go to NVIDIA settings. Go to Manage 3D settings under 3D settings. Under the 'Program Settings' tab, add 'TES IV' and use High-performance NVIDIA processor.

  • @dayat24 thank you bro. I love you!

  • @Dunil009 yeah, go to nvidia settings and use the 540m, or update you're drivers on nvidia:D

  • @Dunil009 Probably because your CPU is a piece of crap and this game recommends a quad core...

  • @Leijonasisu I've already fixed it..Exactly like dayat24 said... And its runnin' pretty well so be quiet little kiddo

  • @Dunil009 Kiddo? I'm probably much older and obviously much smarter than you.. :/ Probably because you turned everything right down lol. My computer has 20 times the specs you have :/ cry moar.

  • @Dunil009 your processor sucks hard thats Why

  • Comment removed

  • I'm getting an Asus X53SV-SX116V 39,6 cm (15,6 inch) Notebook (Intel Core i5 2410M, 2,3GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, NVIDIA GT 540M, DVD, Win 7 HP.

You think it woud handle skyrim with good grafiks?

  • Any of you experiencing high temps if you have similar laptops? Mine usually goes up to 96 degrees celcius if I play Skyrim on any settings.

  • @dayat24 'm always geetting high temps with this laptop. I'm using an Acer Timeline, I hook it up to a monitor and keyboard, so what i end up doing is removing the bottom of the laptop and having a fan blowing on it constantly. Keeps temps low to around 70 dagrees. I can't really play these games in "Laptop form".. Needed the laptop for school but being able to hook it up to a monitor and play games like this = me happy even with having to cool it like that.

  • Turn off AF x 4 and turn AA to x2. Those settings kill FPS. Also consider turning down decal quality to just high.

I run a laptop with exactly the same specs as you and I get always 30+ fps on these settings and it looks about as good as skyrim can get (on my resolution at least)

  • I fucking love you sir.

  • I have i7, 6gb ram, 540m and my settings are above medium, distance details on max.. you know why maybe? because you have turned on AA when you have FXAA!! try disable AA and AF.. let me know

  • @Rooobko and of course its not laggy, maybe sometimes outdoors (~28fps)

  • I have a Nvidia GeForce 540m with 4Gb VRAM (due to intergrated add ones i think it is a 2Gb by itself) can someone tell me if it will work? and if so how well (low mid high ultra?

  • @cegosw I don't really understand how the launcher sets the settings for low, mid, high and ultra high but I can assure you it runs on pretty well on higher settings :D

  • i think that the lag is a problem of the pc version. my pc have have the same specs as yours but i have 6 gb o ram. this card is very good, because i can play battlefield 3 and witcher 2 in ultra settings so i think that we will not have any problems playing this recent games :). And i cant wait to begin my adventure in skyrim!!!

  • @takrayz Battlefield 3 on Ultra with a 540m? This is not possible. It takes the fastest desktop GPU's to do that, and the 540m isn't even as fast as the older desktop GTX 260.

  • @SathingtonWaltz i have the game installed in my pc and it runs fine xD

  • @SathingtonWaltz in the witcher i just need to disable one option xD. in battlefield it runs fine at 1366*768

  • @takrayz like what @SathinghonWaltz said, I don't think the GT 540M is capable of running those on Ultra. I've tried. Maybe on 640x480 resolution LOL
