I am not going to lie I personally believe there are many greater games out right now (and soon to be out, such as skyrim)... but this game is way older than modern games, compared to games back in its time I will have to agree it is better than MOST games that were out, I personally believe Shadow of the Colossus is better than this, but that's a matter of opinion.

There is only one series that can compete! That series is Sam & Max. I can't decide if this or Sam & Max is the best game ever. I know people are probably gonna say, "WHAT?! I think, what with time contraints (even without them now, I prefer not to make reviews over 10 minutes long...they get pretty boring) and trying to fit in the intro and a conversation with one of my favourite characters I may have glossed over the negative areas of the game. In terms of being a fanboy, what can I say? The game captivated me from start to end and I fell in love with it. I was pretty shocked that not many had played it and so I made this review.

@EnDZYm3 That's why it may come as very positive, I was just strongly recommending a game to people. I generally review games that I have enjoyed immensely, especially old games that have been overlooked and so as a consequence the flaws of a game may be overlooked as a result. It is perhaps an area I need to work on and since most of my favourite games are far from flawless (Pyschonauts, Stranger's Wrath, Earthbound, Deus Ex, Farenheit), I will recitify this aspect in the future.

@Paladin1611 I don't know, opinion is quite subjective. I don't really like Ocarina of Time and think that the other Zelda games later in the series have improved on the 3D Zelda formula. That said, I still prefer Okami to any Zelda game. Super Mario Bros. is fun but does get boring after a short while. Tetris is also cool but only for a hour. Nobody has the same opinion, heh heh.

Could Max Cavalera be a guy who Manny Calavera is based off? I mean the dude who made this game (Tim Schafer) is obviously a rocker/metalhead (his last project is Brütal Legend). I just googled that "calavera" means "scull" in spanish, and calaveras are also sold on the dia de los muertos in Mexico. So the similarity of the names could be just a coincidence.

Controls...the one thing that's ruined so many awesome games.

Parasite eve, for example. Not sure about the first, but the second was horrible, you couldn't even strafe, which was a real problem considering it was a real-time RPG, you needed to face your enemies in order to shoot...

But that's unrelated. Might as well scrounge around for THIS game.

@zed617 I would totally agree with Parasite Eve 2. That game is hard as hell to control but it's a pretty fun RPG/Resident Evil style game. I thought it could you could auto aim at enemies? Maybe I haven't played it in a while.

@evilguy0 You auto-aim, I haven't finished the game but you have to get Aya to stand still and wait for her to face the enemy in order to get auto-target to work. If you equip her with a shotgun, you can cancel your auto-aim to use the spread strategically if you want to, or with machineguns you can simply spray around and hit every enemy on the ground with a single clip. Not sure how the nade launcher plays.

I can't play past the mojave desert because of an invisible, fast enemy that kills you.

The graphics are fine, even to this day. We can do better nowadays, I agree... But this game doesn't need any remake at all. The characters look really unique... with great animation... and sometimes, I forget they're in 3D and get the impression they're stop motion figures.

As for the story and music... it's just perfect. A movie would be a nice tribute... but I don't want a remake. It really isn't needed.

Now, I just want LucasArts to do more games like that, instead of StarWarsing to no end.
