Well, first off, smart ass, it is a KOMODO dragon.

They are indeed lizards, they are from the monitor lizard family. It is also known as the Komodo Lizard and Komodo Island Lizard.

Don't call people stupid unless you have actually done your research, my dear. :)

nasty fuckers, they bite just about anything that's in their way (it has bacteria that's just as harmful as venom) and if they don't start eating you, his friends will. that's how they hunt, they attack and leave so when enough time passes by you're dead and a ready to be eaten.

Those aren't Komodo Dragons, they are water monitors, which are common all over SE Asia. Komodo Dragons are endemic to Komodo National Park in Indonesia. So, if they ended up in Thailand, THAT would be a real news story.

Many Thais have a superstitious aversion to water monitors, but possibly here lizard and human have some kind of uneasy truce. 11 foot is likely to be an exaggeration, although probably not that far off the mark
