Nah, I hope not. Trivium isn't for everyone. I mean, true Trivium. Not the stuff like The Crusade. I fear that if Trivium becomes too popular/mainstream they will abandon screaming again.
@Daputti When Trivium's first two albums were released, Heafy was screaming with his throat, which will kill that shit. While trivium was touring for The Crusade, Heafy was learning how to scream with his diaphragm. Not only does it allow much more control, but it's also less rough on the body.
Also, Trivium wouldn't have replaced Travis with a death metal drummer so they could record softer sounding music.
Yeah, I know the real reason behind The Crusade. But it didn't seem that they had a problem with it.
+If Travis was really replaced (meaning he didn't leave for those family reasons), it was because he just couldn't stay on beat and half-assed a lot of songs live, for example, Gunshot.

The tempo seems a bit too fast to me. Like it's rushed. Usually that's fine but I think it took away from the song a little bit. Still an awesome performance. Nick just seemed to be going overly fast on the verses and chorus.
I honestly think that the tempo increase is just Nick's nerves getting to him a little...I've done it a few times...especially for the first performance...once he gets more comfortable with the song and playing on stage it'll be slowed down. Just my .02 though. Could be wrong
Its done on purpose. Nick is a deathcore drummer and hes able to play fking fast and I think that was what Trivium wanted. They wanted something new that Travis couldnt bring to the band. Im not bashing Travis but Nick and Travis are 2 different drummers and they have their own style.
I think it's both. I read an article from a couple of years ago about Travis splitting up with his fiance because she decided she didn't want to be with someone who would be away from home so much. So stuff like that... I guess he found living on the road hard maybe.

@megahdith I would have agreed till Shogun. Travis was extreamely disappointing in that whole album. His highlight has always been his speed and only a few times did he erally shine. Other times it was just really basic stuff beginner drummers could do. Nick just has soo much speed, technique, and just raw energy he puts travis to shame. I wish during thier performance in chicago last year that Travis had the energy that nick brings.

Are you stupid? Get your albums straight, Shogun was their return to their original sound while blending in what they learned from The Crusade. The Crusade was the album that sounded like Pantera, Metallica, etc and upset many people. Shogun is much more technical, and Nick is just the thing to add to their already progressing skill as a band and in their music. Travis was holding them back, and I think Nick was a much needed change. Travis was extremely overrated as a drummer.
I'm glad trivium released the crusade. If anything it weeded out the bastards who thought they were the shit because of the metalcore trend those few years ago. Despite it was taken by a home camera or even a mobile phone camera, but the fact is, the sound that night was really terrible... Couldn't hear the chords of guitar and bass clearly. What we got that night was loudness sound and less quality.
Over all, trivium performed so great with a great crowd as well. Even though there was a trouble in the guitar at the first 2-3 songs...

The drums dont even compare to Travis's drumming. Travis's strong point was building tension. he played soft when he had to and rocked out when he had too. This drummer isnt unique in any way. He sounds exactly like any other metal drummer.

travis went out of time a lot. then again, i saw a vid where nick plays too much of a bar in ascendancy, but thats ok i guess, better than going far out of time.

sounds like the new album will be killer. this is a good song and nick is a good drummer, he was filling in for travis the last time i saw them (before he officially joined the band) and i have to say i was impressed: more technical than travis, its obvious, this song has an all new trivium sound that I can't wait to hear develop.

i would disagree, i think this is up their with the epic feel of shogun. To me it seems as if trivium is adding alot more of this epic depth to their music and its great, can't wait for the next album.

Are you stupid? Get your albums straight, Shogun was their return to their original sound while blending in what they learned from The Crusade. The Crusade was the album that sounded like Pantera, Metallica, etc and upset many people. Shogun is much more technical, and Nick is just the thing to add to their already progressing skill as a band and in their music. Travis was holding them back, and I think Nick was a much needed change. Travis was extremely overrated as a drummer.

I'm glad trivium released the crusade. If anything it weeded out the bastards who thought they were the shit because of the metalcore trend those few years ago. This new sound seems like a real natural progression from shogun. They are finally gonna utilize Matt's deep as fuck growls. BLAST BEATS FUCK YEAH. Nick is fucking insane. There is just so much energy when he plays. Travis man you were good, but this energy nicks got just beats the hell outta yours.

Nick plays a small kit because he doen't have the skills to set up much less play a larger kit, that's why he was fired as a tech by Travis.

Letting alone the fact that i feel nick was better from the start-- the band even said that Travis was holding them back. He was dull and simple.
"We were coming to the point where the band was -- not necessarily dissolving -- but dissolving in creativity and maybe in live fire and energy, so we had to make a change for the positive," Heafy told Noisecreep. Nick on the other hand has the speed and Tech to drum. No way in hell is Travis better then Nick, when Nick can mix it up and stay on tempo...unlike Travis...

I think they've been doing very well recently. I just saw them in December. One of the best concerts I've been to. 2006 was a very bad year for them. My opinion anyway.

I've been to four and they've always put on a great show.
Their quality and technicality shows their skills on stage. And the fact they speed songs up live? What bands do that and make them sound just as good? Not many my friend.

Despite it was taken by a home camera or even a mobile phone camera, but the fact is, the sound that night was really terrible... Couldn't hear the chords of guitar and bass clearly. What we got that night was loudness sound and less quality.
Over all, trivium performed so great with a great crowd as well. Even though there was a trouble in the guitar at the first 2-3 songs...

The drums dont even compare to Travis's drumming. Travis's strong point was building tension. he played soft when he had to and rocked out when he had too. This drummer isnt unique in any way. He sounds exactly like any other metal drummer.
