I think they (Savage Family) are trying to relay a message to a specific audience - youth- and recognize that hip hop is a tool for that. It's not as if they are living in a vaccum where youth culture doesn't relate. I don't think the genre itself is played, or that Savage Fam's intent is negative, however Savage Fam's particularly take on the genre- the branding, aesthetic, overall sound needs to be developed, more refined, more originality.
