I remember sitting in the living room with my dad watching the 2000 winston 500. I was 11 years old and I remember my dad teling me that Dale was going to win that race 2 laps before he started that charge. I said but hes to far back and dad said, that doesnt mean anything. When he started making his run me and dad were both yelling at th the tv as loud as we could. "Go, go, go". Dad and I quit watching altogether after the 2001 daytona 500. We both knew that it would never be the same.

Thank you for this video. Good ol' 7-Time was the greatest of ALL time. My favorite story of him was at Martinsville they replaced the retaining wall (before SAFER barriers) and Earnhardt went there for a test session. He couldn't understand why he kept brushing the wall by a hair coming off the corners. They told him that the new guiderails stuck out 2 inches more than previously, and Earnhardt said that explains it. The man knew exactly what line he wanted to run... Need I say more?

10 years ago Nascar as we know it died forever. Every week from the 80's thru 2000 u tuned in to see what the legend did. U loved him or hated him but u always were watching him. Love him and he could do no wrong....hate him and u thought he was the dirtiest driver out there. He stirred the sport like no one else ever could or will again. I was lucky enough to see him winin Charlotte '93 in person. Black flagged 3 times during the race and still made up the laps and won the race. I was hooked.

Yeah, keep in mind that Richard Petty, as good a driver as he was, cheated alot(gas in the roll cage for example), Johnson has had the chase to help him, & he's in a different era than Dale raced, when Dale raced, the cars were different, & there wasn't a single team dominance for the most part, there were some great "dynasties", but not like today. Today, the cars are all equal, & if you figure out the setup that's right for that car, you've got basically a free ticket to the chase
