It is sad that my country, Brazil, having the largest black population in the world, did little other than being the first country to recognize Communist Angola. Cuba repaid their debt for t colonial slavery by making the inverse trip - many other latin american countries still owe Africa a lot and should have followed their example. Sidenote: The Racist SA were, of course, backed by our champions of democracy and virtue, the United States!
Good triumphed over evil and Red Flag, symbolizing that every man has the same color running through his veins, triumphed over racism, colonialism and agression. It were Mandella's own words that Cuito was the tombstone of the Apartheid. Too bad in the same year, the Red Flag succumbed to the wicked press manipulation in that year's elections, in my own country...
moonbeam my little sunshine .If you,re winning a war why would you run to the UN an sue for peace WHY did castro hav on of his generals shot an the other fled after the firefite , look up that info you clever person use you pc BOY Cuba an swapo got the shit end of the stick .UNITA held strong in that area for year . Go thru the area an see wat lies around speak to the people , i made my peace over there AN MATE PULL YOURE HEAD OUT OF THE SAND ITS PAST BOTH SIDE LOST LIVES
To all the apartheid apologetic morons,You have a dread disease that is often common in all apartheid apologetic, it is called denial-ism,do you really think that by trying to alter the truth you will succeed? You all will find that it is much more difficult to maintain propaganda rubbish like you all wrote in this forum, than to maintain and accept the whole truth. You can argue these facts, however, in the end, facts will always stand true.
@KalahariSurf I reckon you should slow down .You are becoming more manic. Its all happened !! Its water under the bridge ! GONE. GET YOURSELF A LIFE !!
Interesting, just have to point out one contradiction in this video, the majority of your clips of YOUR so called South African tanks and vehicles that were destroyed or captured were actually Russian tanks and vehicles. I'll give you the SA Mirage and maybe a few more clips. Very fitting you used Linkin Parks "Numb" song to accompany this absolute dreadful inaccurate video. A very Numb production.....
This is a joke!! The whole video is a propaganda joke!! Learn your history joker!!! I've been there! First hand: you are twisting history!! And that is a FACT!!
Despite any propaganda, military experts agree Cuba/FAPLA were badly beaten at Cuito. FAPLA casualties -
- at least a fifth of its ground force KIA/WIA
- a quarter of it’s equipment destroyed or captured
Then the high Cuban casualties at Tchipa discouraged them from further engaging the SADF and they retreated. Then, instead of entering and liberating Namibia as they said they would, they agreed to withdraw from Angola. This represents a major defeat for both FAPLA and the Cubans.
@TheJago64 In your dreams ! Only if you totally ignore history .I.E Statements by the recipients of Cuban intervention . ANC AND NELSON Mandala's statements CUITO CUANAVALE was the turning point when liberation forces backed by Cuban forces cut off sadf from their Namibian bases forcing Crocker US diplomat to call a ceasefire .Retreat of sadf THEN the exit of Cuban forces back home JOB DONE .
Really Moonbeam ? Cubans cut SADF off from their bases ? Can you provide evidence of this, strangely none of you are ever able to do that. Truth is, at Tchipa Cuba lost around 300 men to 1 SADF officer and they lost the stomach to fight the SADF again. Why else did Cuba not invade Namibia like they said they would. I think Mandela is a great man but that doesn't mean everything he says is correct. He will put forward whatever version of events best suits the ANC's ideals.
@TheJago64 tchipa was attacked by Cuban migs .About 34 sadf died . You are going against logic when you say Madela + ANC people are liars . WHY should he give credit to Foreign troops ? I do not think swapo or other liberation forces who lost many comrades would tolerate that ! If you let yourself think in a rational manner . It would become obvious , your assumption is incorrect .
Come on then Moonbeam, show me evidence of your Tchipa claims. Until then the facts remain as I have put them : the SADF killed around 300 enemy for the loss of 1 officer at Tchipa, and Cuba lost the stomach to continue fighting. My evidence - Cuba retreated and didn't advance into Namibia ?
@TheJago64 tchipa was attacked by Cuban migs .About 34 sadf died . You are going against logic when you say Madela + ANC people are liars . WHY should he give credit to Foreign troops ? I do not think swapo or other liberation forces who lost many comrades would tolerate that ! If you let yourself think in a rational manner . It would become obvious , your assumption is incorrect .
Get real Moonbeam, I'm still waiting for you to present evidence of these SADF losses. You're still basing your whole argument on your interpretation of events, and here on what Madiba's motivation was. Let us see some evidence and we can carry on the discussion, until then stop wasting everyone's time.
@TheJago64 WHY is South Africa free ? WHY was the man labelled a "Terrorist" become the 1st president of said country ? WHERE is s.a.d.f. now ? Why should Nelson Mandela call CUITO C. the turning point of the war of liberation . If it was not true ! he would be doing a grave disservice to the likes of SWAPO etc.etc . Why should the settlers relinquish power if they won.? Their are plenty of independent accounts on line .
@TheMOONBEAM40 More & more whites wanted the end of apartheid, PW seemed to start reforms & things were looking up then in typical PW fashion he fucked up & made his "Cross the Rubicon" speech & i think even his most vocal supporters realised he was losing it. in Feb 1990 FW made the speech most people were hoping that PW's "Rubicon" speech would have been. the USSR had withdrawn financial support to the Angolan war effort etc.
Snr NP ministers had had meetings with both Mandela and others in the ANC. Senior Business and political figures had meetings with the ANC, Mandela had been moved to Pollsmoor Prison then in 88 to Victor Verster so it was all part "long term planning" for want of a better description. The Nats were as paranoid as McCarthy was when it "communism" and the perceived threat of the USSR. Yes using death and violence may work as a means of political and societal change, BUT.....
that doesn't mean that's it's always effective. Just take the comms of the 2 sides. At the time the SADF had the most sophisticated radios in the world. The channel hopping ability were uncrackable at the time. The USA were dying to get their hands on the tech. On the other hand the SADF listened in on FAPLA radio comms at will. We knew what they were going to do before they did it. and that's just one of numerous advantages the SADF had.
@TheMOONBEAM40 and i fail to see why you would believe the words of a person that wasn't at Cuito to the words of numerous others that were there? Why did it take the intervention of EO to turn the tide in the Angolan civil war? And the use of children in war is a barbaric thing to do and it should never be allowed to happen and never should one try and justify it regardless of how noble one thinks a political cause is.
also read Animal Farm or re-read i've you've already read it. Don't judge a political party on what they say judge them on what they do. How much money is being wasted by lazy, incompetent and corrupt officials. How many new houses could be built with R20 billion? How many kids education could be vastly improved? How many new hospitals, new schools or universities? And what's happening to the money? it's being pissed down the drain.
people can support any political party they want to as far as i've concerned, bar a few extreme cases, just remember governments don't make money they spend it and all the money a government gets is ultimately from tax payers and that money is meant to be spent to protect people but also to improve their lot. And if your political party thinks fuck the masses i'm going to ride this gravy time like the luxuriant giving whore that it is, fuck everyone else this can't last so take
all you can as quickly as you can because this feeding frenzy can't last.It shouldn't be a case of making everyone, bar senior party officials and a few of their fattest, sorry i mean closet friends, as poor as the rest. It's about improving the lives if everyone esp. the poorest and most vulnerable. I fail to see why provincial officials spend millions on new cars and hotels when others don't even have house let alone water or electricity
support any party or figure you want to, just please don't insult my intelligence by telling me they are there looking out for the "little guy". How much weight has JM put on in the last few years? Yet people honestly believe he's right down there with the poorest of the poor. It's farcical
Lie I said, Nelson is a great man but he's also represents his party and will say what is in their interest.
KalahariSurf is correct, most of us wanted apartheid to end. We didn't all support it but we also didn't want to hand our country over to a government who would prove to be ineffective, incompetent, and more interested in self enrichment than good governance.
Oh yes, and we're not settlers mate. My ancestors may have been but I'm as African as anyone else.
Mandela wasn't just labelled a terrorist, he reverted to terror tactics so he was one. In the same position I would probably do the same thing.
We won the military war and no amount of nonsense and fake facts you post is going to convince anyone in the world of anything different.
The SADF is still there by the way, it has just been amalgamated with MK and is now only a shadow of what it once was. I must say, they've got some pretty nice toys now that there is no arms embargo.
@ferdiespringbok 6 mth siege of cuito cuanavale 30000 shells" sadf " a day into a small town.15000 elite Cuban +Angolan outflanked sadf . The end game was at TCHIPA .US Dip. Crocker negotiated exit from Angola + U.N demanded withdrawal after murderous attack on S.W.A.P.O refugee camp+ young S.Africans were resisting conscription Rest is history. 1990 Namibian Independace month after Madela was freed .Some sadf joined E.O EXECUTIVE OUTCOMES to fight for Angola . Weird ?
@TheMOONBEAM40 what's weird is the EO turned the tide fro the Angolan government against UNITA? Also how many Angolan civilians have been killed by Namibia's Tornado unit? It's nice that Nam treats their close allies so well. viva demockery
@KalahariSurf The Vietnamese fought Japanese,British + French forces .In 1954 it was decided a DEMOCRATIC vote be taken by ALL Viets July 1956.( Geneva conference ) Diem" French puppet " and America would not sign the Geneva accord . So the election to unite the country did not take place!! USA knew that the elite group they were backing would lose ! Rest is history. Vietnam is a V.successful , united SOCIALIST country like China. No "domino" crap that was dished out
@KalahariSurf YOU PUZZLE ME.Vietnam won its war of Independence+unification against the USA .Its now called THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM. ! hardly a close ally of USA imperialism That slaughtered millions of its citizens and deluged the land with toxic AGENT ORANGE . Babies are still being born with 2 heads 3 legs etc to this day .
30,000 shells a day, are you stupid? You'd need 20 x G5's to fire 1 shell per minute non-stop for 24hrs to do that. Anyone with half a brain can tell you that's impossible. Just like all the other anti-SADF jokers -
- you post videos of clips not from the time or place the event occurred
- you make up facts regardless of whether they even make sense
- you believe things must be true just because someone said it
And you think anyone who isn't a fool will believe you. Really ?
@ferdiespringbok President Mandela +ANC said CUITO CUANAVALE was turning point of the war for independence !! Cubans came to our assistance to protect our sovereignty . THEY TOOK NOTHING WITH THEM EXCEPT THEIR DEAD AND OUR GRATITUDE !! On record for all to see if you unblock your minds and accept the truth . Like your comrades who helped the Angolan government fight the brutal .u.n.i.t.a who even the Americans abandoned . ALL citizens can vote now
@TheMOONBEAM40 what makes Mandela an expert on Cuito? Was he there? And how many democratic elections has Angola had? I suggest you do some research about how many ANC and SWAPO cadres were detained and tortured in Angola for speaking out about the repressive Angolan regime? Also many Cubans bodies were left in Angola, their families weren't permitted to claim the bodies. Also many Cuban soldiers were not allowed back to mainland Cuba due to AIDS
@KalahariSurf With the the Eventual withdrawal of SADF from Angola + Namibia it was only a matter of time before S.A became independent .If the 1st president Mandela does not know about the importance Cuito .Who does ? Blacks were fighting on both sides .War is evil ! Cuba did have a specific place to quarantine aids victims to protect the general public. Take it from me they were given the best medical attention + rejoined families when safe to do so .
@KalahariSurf Cuban dead returned to Cuba 1889 . Buried at the SANTA INFIGENIA CEMETERY Santiago DE Cuba . CUBA . 7th Dec 2011 Fidel+ Raul Castro laid flower wreaths at the Monument in the cemetery and remembered the International fighters + civilians ( men and women ) who died for a just cause as recognized by most people worldwide . This ceremony occurs every year . !!
@TheMOONBEAM40 why weren't the families allowed to claim the bodies of dead Cuban soldiers? And why did so many returning Cuban soldiers get exiled on that island, i forget the name, but banishing your war heroes to an island because of the fear of AIDS is a real nice way of showing your appreciation. Also tell me about political freedom in Cuba. Oh wait don't answer that as we all know there's FUCK ALL
@KalahariSurf in the early days . Information about aids was limited ! Millions around the world have died . Cuban people receive FREE , some of the best medical services in the world.. Now that they have developed effective drugs and a regular screening program they can relax those policies that were enacted to protect the population ! USA have waged a Economic+ propaganda war against Cuba .YOU are a victim .
@KalahariSurf Check out whats going on in " Democratic" USA A choice between 2 parties .REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT "Capitalist OR Capitalist" WOW !! some choice there !! Both backed by billionaire corporate media . Ignorant likable "front men " likes of B movie actor REAGAN or BUSH buffoon looks like + has the brains of a chimp . Millions of poorly educated , brainwashed + released on the world . to make the rich richer . POOR SUCKERS !!
@TheMOONBEAM40 well at least in the USA they have elections, They even allow independent candidates. When last did Angola have a regime change? Do some research on "Blue cockroaches" in Angola. When did Cuba last have democratic elections? Has anyone in Cuba voted for Raul Castro? Also take a lot at individual freedoms in the USA and then compare them to those in Angola and Cuba? oh wait Cuba and Angola have fuck all individual freedoms
@KalahariSurf USA have election of a kind, if the mega rich own or control the Media .What chance do independents have , especially if you need access to £multi- millions to stand a dogs chance. Many millions of poorly educated Americans can be manipulated to back the likes of moronic Bush . Even basic healthcare is denied to millions by greedy fat cats. Haven't you seen the 1000s of EDUCATED people protesting about the greed
@TheMOONBEAM40 as i've asked before let's try and stick to the program. Are you trying to suggest Angolans have better medical care than the USA? How many political parties does Angola have contesting the VERY FEW elections it has EVER held?
@TheMOONBEAM40 and see at least in the West people are allowed to protest, again i'll ask you about the "Blue Ninjas" of Angola. Kidnapping people and gang planking them into the military. Using kids as soldiers you must be so proud of Angola's DEMOCKERY
Socialist Republic of Cuba .Last Nat.ELECTION OCT. 2007. 8.1 million people voted 6009 delegates to the National Assembly Cuba is a GRASS ROOTS DEMOCRACY or REVOLUTIONARY DEM. There are local, municipal provincial and national delegates voted all the way up to the national party CONGRESS . Successful candicates stay in office for 5 yrs , SINCE 1992 other parties take part IE christian liberal party and several other independent parties , Next National election Oct 2012 .
@TheMOONBEAM40 lol, so if you accept Cuba is a democracy , where people can vote as long as they vote for Castro, then would you agree by the same precepts Blacks had a democratic right under the homelands? See democracy is NOT just about allowing people to vote it's allowing people to vote for a party/candidate that they want to vote for. And what about travel restrictions, restrictions on what people can own, when and if they are allowed to travel?
@KalahariSurf I have many Cuban friends in Italy and the U.K . They visit their families quite often . NO PROBLEM . Bantu "HOMELANDS " like SOWETO for instance , Best farmland for European settlers . DO ME A FAVOR .
@KalahariSurf Go to America and talk to the millions of blacks in poverty stricken ghettos or in brutal prisons ., without basic healthcare Then take a tour of the walled off guarded billionaires mansions . Compare that with Cuba, No filthy rich .What money comes is spent on the education, culture and health of the people. . That's after 50 yrs of economic blockade +sabotage . The 1st Latin country to take back its own resources ! Made to pay ,
@TheMOONBEAM40 are you saying that there are only poor blacks in the USA and only rich whites? And hey criminals are criminals, are you you trying to suggest blacks should not be imprisoned for crime? Also if you want to discuss prisons tell me about prisons in Africa or Cuba? And hey making everyone poor is pretty easy to do as all socialist regimes have proved. Again i ask why do you keep mentioning the USA?
@KalahariSurf In a rich country like America . Do you believe Jesus was a very humane person . What would he say to the billionaires of America ,When theirs so much poverty ? Criminals activity must be curbed . But in America possession of money ,consumer goods are everything . There's 30.000 murders a year ! Its a very sick society . A society of extremes breeds a sick underclass . evangelist ripping off really uneducated gullible people .They need locking up .
@TheMOONBEAM40 please don't bring in religion to this discussion if you want to ask what jesus would do then please do it elsewhere. also when quoting stats it's important to see the full picture. The USA's population is over times that of SA. BUT FFS i thought this is about the BS that Cuba won the battle of Cuito? Were you there? Do you even know anyone that fought at Cuito?
@KalahariSurf we would gather Jesus Christ was a remarkable man . I am a non religious person . But I mentioned him to try and get over to you .Something called morality .What a man like that would think of the today's fat cats . I was not there at Cuito ! The same way I was not present at battle of Waterloo . But I still know who won . I believe I have covered every aspect of the siege of Cuito and the final outcome of that sad war. Its history .BYE
@KalahariSurf I thought we covered a wide range of subjects including democracy or lack of it EVEN SO ! I can only give you room for thought , Cannot do anymore enjoyed the exchange . Bye +Cheers !
@TheMOONBEAM40 lol, you gave me room for thought? You're the one that's been avoiding my questions by constantly changing topics. but you're right this discussion is going nowhere. Just note the comments of the people that were actually at Cuito. How many ex Cuban, PLAN, MK or FAPLA cadres comment on here? Why did Cuba ask to join the peace talks betw. SA & Angola - talks that had started prior to the campaign at Cuito. Research operation Alpha Centauri for a start
@TheMOONBEAM40 Are you unwilling to answer the questions i have asked that are relevant to the video that you constantly change the subject? If my questions are too poignant than let me know and i'll lower the level of the discussion in order for you to participate in a meaningful and applicable manner. Just say the word
@TheMOONBEAM40 "Cuba, No filthy rich" you say. Tell me about the Castro brothers then are they just as poor as the average Cuban. And while we're on that topic. Why do you think so many Cubans are trying to get to the USA? And why people the world over aren't flocking to Cuba in their droves? And as for education in Cuba why did the ANC government send back all the Cuban Doctors? It was because their training was sub-standard.Again do your research and you'll see i am right.
@KalahariSurf Honestly you have really been "GOT AT" Cuban healthcare is really top notch ,+ free . Why would Argentine football star MARADONNA and the likes of rich Americans like boxer MIKE TYSON get treated in Havana Because they wanted the best . People from all over Latin America (capitalist countries) go to USA . They are usually ECONOMIC .immigrants, sadly its often US foreign policies that cause the exodus .Millions have left once prosperous countries like Iraq
@KalahariSurf leaders in every country have to have decent places to entertain foreign statesmen etc. But the president came from a land owning family .He was wealthy , Like CHE who was a doctor ,He was sickened by the extreme poverty of people .One of the first things he did was give his land for use of the peasants .He really lives a simple life You Never see him in a mansion or palace unless he goes a broad . people CALL themselves christian. He has the morality they lack
@TheMOONBEAM40 so i've trashed your claim that only blacks are poor in the USA and that only whites are rich. And as for your suggestion that i should speak to the millions of blacks in brutal prisons, are you trying to imply whites are imprisoned in less brutal goals? I suggest you try and get your points across in a structured manner as it the moment it seems you're just rambling on inanely and clutching at straws
@KalahariSurf I don't think so . Have you ever watched USA documentaries such as JAIL ? The lynching are rare now and their has been much progress after many decades of discrimination and the murder of civil rights leaders . 50 million citizens live in dire poverty even today many without basic healthcare . True millions of poor whites also . They still have chain gangs !. What can one man spend 7 $12 billion on . $ is their god .
@TheMOONBEAM40 If under the Nats Black people were allowed to vote, but only vote for the NP, would you consider that a democracy? So PLEASE don't try and insult by trying to bullshit me that Cuba is a democracy. However, if you really believe that it is, you really do deserve my sympathy. I eagerly await for your answers to these questions, but let me guess these will be ignored too
@TheMOONBEAM40 also why constantly move the goal posts unless you're clucking at straws i thought this was about Angola, Namibia, SA and Cuba? Should we add China, Syria and Burma to the conversation or should we just stuck the the topic at hand? I suggest you try and stay focused. But we both know why you're unwilling to can answer my questions about political freedom in Cuba and Angola -it's because there are none.
@KalahariSurf I know the difference between REAL history and PROPAGANDA ! Many well meaning people get all their info. from the local media ie Sky News etc "imbedded " journalist WHO SUPPORT THE STATUS QUO rather than the truth . I have tried at times to give you examples in the past where massive lies have been exposed . At the moment the Press Baron Murdock is under investigation UK for what has been called MAFIA like empire .
@TheMOONBEAM40 i asked about Angola's spending not about history so i fail to see why you mention MURDOCH. And umm please show me one example where you "have tried at times to give (me) examples in the past where massive lies have been exposed". Do you have have proof where you gave me examples or did you just mean to give examples and forgot?
@TheMOONBEAM40 or are you trying to suggest that Angola has had many more democratic elections than the media has reported? And speaking of the media, let's talk about the Protection of Information Bill. Many prominent anti apartheid activists have speak it's just as repressive, if not even more so, as the media laws linked with the State of Emergency legislation. but let me guess you'll claim you've already addressed that point?:))) So should we return to the matter at hand?
@KalahariSurf I have never made any claims about Angola ! you are arguing with yourself ! I would say their are many independent countries who are run in a bad way .All over the world regimes are being overthrown . But it should be by their own people ! Not an opportunity for the hyenas to move in .
@TheMOONBEAM40 umm i suggest you go back and re-read your earlier comments, you were expounding the virtues of Cuban and Angolan troops for fihthing for freedom and i pointed out it's great to pontificate about about freedoms for others while denying it to your own people. Check the comments and you'll see i'm right. However, if you now feel the need to retrct your earlier claims then please do so. It's what i have been saying ALL along:)))) Yet, i'm arguing myself? lol
@TheMOONBEAM40 you say "(a)ll over the world regimes are being overthrown . But it should be by their own people !" So by your assertion i can only conclude that you were morally opposed to Cubans assisting SWAPO with regime change? Let me guess you're opposed to it generally unless it helps your cause. Another case of special pleading? If that's how your mind works let me know and i'll change my arguments to as as inconsistent as yours are
@KalahariSurf When the indigenous people are deciding their own future yes , But the people of South Africa were denied that option by Colonial settlers and ruthless mercenaries recruited from Europe and were supported by foreign powers IE Reagan + Thacher . This was not just about a change of government . It was a war for independence for a African country Which came about after much sacrifice .
@TheMOONBEAM40 also do your research and you'll see resource allocation in Angola is more skewed than it was under the NP in SA. And please if you want to try and challenge this i ask you so it with facts and figures. Look at the fairly recent arms deal scandal between Angola and France just as one example. Dos Santos, his family and friends get richer and ordinary Angolans get killed
@TheMOONBEAM40 did i ever once say i wanted to return to the days of war? I was merely pointing out your mistakes in claiming that countries like Angola and Cuba are free, but again if my arguments are too difficult for you to counter then please continue to move the goal posts and constantly avoid the questions i ask. You haven't mentioned the weather yet so feel free to use the weather to avoid answering the questions i've re-asked:)))
Let me comment: Learn your history!!!!! We stopped the Cubans/communists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to check your history books, maybe you have to go back to your shoebox!!!!!!!!!!!
This video was published by someone whom has no idea what the Angolan war was about. The background music is in taste of a High school kid definately not a war veteran from the 80's, and this kid has no idea of the professional war statistics from this battle. Thanx for the laugh...Cheers
@kuduro1000timesBest My advise is. Be careful . So much misinformation,.omitted + half truths(,black propaganda "100% lies )" If you study a conflict between two countries I.E Try and get multiple views ETC If you study the Vietnam war, say. No use just reading the autobiography of US GEN. Westmorland ALSO read the book written by GEN. Giap . The man who lead the victorious Vietnamese army .You gain more balance . I Be very aware of OFFICIAL media .
i fought in ethipia and angola, and i really still wonder why the fuck did we had to go 10 000 from home to fight a war that had nothin to du with us.and in top of that the fuckin angolans dont thak us a shit,i lost my best friend in cangamba and the people that we were "fighting for"remeber us with hate.fuck angola, fuck comunism, and fuck all of those the ungratefulls
hahaha, what crap. You can still see all the knocked out MPLA and Cuban tanks if you go there today. The cubans got 7 kinds of shit kicked out of them and they had to sue for peace and run back to their ruby little island.
Bullet12352????? You were some kind of war hero. With a name like that I'm sure you won the war single handedly? Seriously though....real soldiers never talk the way you do.
But dont worry boet....you are not the only wannabee out there. Now go to bed. Tomorrow is a new schoolday!!!!
@Bullet12352 to bad i we didnt saw each other, thou now i profoundly regret goin to that fuckin war, back then i was young and stupid and would have killed u just for fun,as i killed so many southafricans and UNITA
@Vaughn0615 Sr.The Cubans casualties in the14 years of war in Angola are 2106,every single name is engraved at "FREEDOM PARK",S.A. and it's weird because the spot reserved for the S.A's. soldiers in the same park,....IS EMPTY!! So your story is backwards.
@VMASTERSON1 Thank you ! A chink of truth and light in a torrent of "black propaganda " given out and sadly believed by a lot of people on this site ,
I am a South African soldier, you idiots were so unprepared for us... you clowns are still feeling the effects of the beating you took in the war. Where are you big soldier/liberators now???? I'll send you some great pictures of BTR 60's full of dead cubans and angolans. You must be careful of displaying false propaganda. Well I suppose it's a case of monkey see, monkey do...
@curahee1000 hahahahahahahaha tell that to your granny, You Boer Schlappohr. South Africa was a fart of history, you fought for NOTHING, Your country went down the drain, the ANC mafia rules your country at rock bottom level and even Pik Botha is an ANC member now... forget all your crappy pride, they bullshitted YOU as they bullshitted me.
@curahee1000 Maybe you did kill Cubans + freedom fighters . But are you AWARE that South Africa is now Independent .All the macabre pics in the world will not change that fact. S.A.D.F. is history . Enjoy your pics and ILLUSIONS
in a war it doesn metter who killed more, what metters is the final results . And the final results was, apertheid backed off, namibia got it's independence, .. so what winning is really about?
if apertheid had won probaly today Angola, Namibia and South Africa would have be a single country. so who won?
Asshole! U got buttfcd in Angolsh! We, the real SADF, beat u hands down. No winners, no losers in war, but don't come here with this kind of sh!t! We shot u to pieces!
After Cuito Cuanavale , the hero of the cuban revolution a general was killed by firing squad so ordered by Castro WHY ,another general fled to america WHY for fear of the same happening to him .The russian openly stating that the war could not be won by the cubans an swapo ,Why would a victorious army sue for peace when the prise was in there sights , this vid reminds me of the key stone cops In war there are no winners jus widowsan orphans
You numpty! The South Africans also kicked the Italians' and the Germans' arses in their African campaign during WWII! Maybe we should come over there and kick your skinny Cuban butt too! Your fathers and grandfathers were fooled into coming to Africa to fight here for Castro's reasons. They died in Africa as brave men. Not like you little Linkin Park stealing snotnose! You defile the memory of Che!
This little boy is believing the nonsense fed to him. War is bad. Don't glorify it and especially don't believe government propaganda or you become cannon fodder. Better to use your head and think why the high and mighty need to lie about it their own catastrophe.
My friends and I went home at our own pace. A lot of Cubans didn't and their corpses got eaten by the wildlife and flies.End of story sonny. There were a lot of flies and believe me, there is no glory to be found on a battlefield.
Thank God, the Mandela supporter Khadafy was slaughtered by his own people today! Let's hope Castro is next. Funny how the black South Africans always end up on the wrong side of history. 'Looks like God's just forgotten some people. Khadafy looked totally fucked, hilarious, and he was taken down by the R-1 rifle! Fantastic!
@staggerlee2011 USA pakistan Saudi and other Autocratic Islamist states backed Mujahedin fanatics against a soviet backed progressive Afghan government who had bought about many reforms , 1000s of teachers.skilled workers.women's rights etc. This upset the feudal khans .USSR withdrew leaving well trained army .They could not match Islamist swarming into country /Saudi oil money! Teachers slaughtered /officials etc.Monster turned on its creator . 9/11 here we come !!
yes we Angolans and Cubans lost more soldiers and civilians than South Africa but if that was enough to end the war in our territory then the victory is for the Angolan and Cubans Revolutionaries. the Apertheid army lost because they didn't continue the fight, in my dictionary that means "To Give Up" , Cant retarded people give a meaning of "to give up or not continuing?" comon we all went to school!
@angolanchico You obviously didn't go to school, or else you would have learned to use punctuation. Also for a self-proclaimed dictionary buff, you should know the word "comon" is not a real word.
@angolanchico Really? That's the best you could come up with? What a pity SADF left Angola. You might have had the opportunity for a decent education if they had stayed.
@gcn1999 maybe but you know how African latins are right ? we like the rebel style, revolucionarios !. we always tried to talk normal but gringos always cross the line. white supremacy is over and you guys have to learn how to take criticism, it's really important for human development. And also learn some new laguages, you see me ye? i speak my native language Portuguese , i also speak Spanish , broken English trying to go formal, next is going to be Afrikaans. It;s your turn now do something!
the facts remain, apartheid`s flags only exist in bedrooms and in your toilets lol.there is no sign that reads, hospitals for white only,Go back and leave this conversation as your comments are laughable, and the whole world knows that.sensible people like Pik Botha,FW De Kerk ,late Malan Jan Geldenhys and many others joined ANC,what a a fuck are you trying to say,you little racist prick, leave go to the north pole,it is white all over there.
@Katyusha75 WOW how ironic calling me a racist when you are one!! No one was acting racist towards no one nether was any of my comments but you had tpo slip this one in! now that you have exposed your self with your stupid comment I would think not to come back to this page for some time!! Shame how old are you? you go blatantly and admit your racist feeling towards someone you don't even know!! your " friends on the internet" are talking sense hey?? Bwahahahahahaha.......hahahahahahahahaha..
So many people on here have obviously never studied history (outside of yankee imperialist textbooks). The MPLA and Cuba brought apartheid to it's knees - a fact reiterated by Nelson Mandela. Long Live FIdel Castro, hero of the peoples of the world.
@joebhoy182 you never brought apartheid to its knees,South African whites held a referendumwhere 63% of the white electorate voted in favour of allowing the other races the right to vote.
@joebhoy182 Someone has obviously never studied history outside of the mass of leftist propaganda that the West spouts constantly. Apartheid ended by a vote, cast by the South African people, for power-sharing; and finally by FW De Klerk's handover of the government. The SADF was still the most powerful military force in Africa at the end of the eighties, by far - look at the facts about Cuito Cuanavale - the Reds lost more men in that battle than we did in the entire war - that is all...
@uzziah120000 How many school kids were shot before you decided to give the majority a vote ? The most powerful military force until the Cubans outflanked them at C.Cuanavale U.S diplomacy got you out of a mess . WHY is S.Africa free ?? WHY would this MIGHTY sadf suddenly convert to democrats. . Because of African nationalist fighters backed by Cubans + world wide outrage . Everyone is RED and De Klerk turned a new leaf !! You really GLOSS things over .
@TheMOONBEAM40 see you're lack of knowledge is evident yet again. The Cuito battle was an annual event. Having the MiGs at Cuito suited the SAAF fine as it was well within striking distance. And speaking of dead schoolkids ask your Angolan and SWAPO buddies why they kidnapped schoolkids and used them as soldiers. There are people on here that claim to be have high up in PLAN that have admitted that SWAPO kidnapped schoolkids.
@KalahariSurf shooting schoolkids who call for freedom from colonial settlers in their homeland is hugely different from mobilizing young patriots to fight for freedom from those settlers .
@TheMOONBEAM40 lol "mobilizing young patriots"? If they were that patriotic why did they have to get forced to fight? And i can only conclude from the above statement that you condone with using kids as soldiers as long as it's for your cause? Thanks you've just shown your true colours, i look forward to see what subject you';ll bounce to next in order to avoid this observation
@TheMOONBEAM40 see again your double standards. You are fine for people to accept outside help if they agree with your politics but not for others to enjoy the same thing. and again you avoid answering any of my questions. do you want to debate or merely sprout forth your own random musings?
@TheMOONBEAM40 and speaking of colonial settlers, here's a bit of African history for you. Did you know the Xhosa only settled in South Africa just before the Europeans? I thought not. But by your logic Xhosas are colonialists too are they? And umm please remind who was the 1st ANC member to lead SA and what tribe is he a member of? I look forward to you completely ignoring this fact too
@TheMOONBEAM40 please if you're going to quote me please quote what i actually said and NOT what you imagined i said. Show me where i said "mig 21s and mig 23s swept mirages from the skies" suited the SADF? I said having the MiGs at Cuito suited the SAAF. A slight differnce in words but a MAJOR difference in meaning. Let's try and keep this factual
@TheMOONBEAM40 as i said earlier Cuito was an annual event. SWAPO would move south in preparation to infiltrate SWA and the SADF would contact a few ops to disrupt the build-up. Mirages would fly into Angolan airspace get picked up on radar then dive to below detection height, MiGs would scramble from Cuito and the G4s and 5s would pound the Cuito airfield. It was never an objective to take all of Angola merely to create a buffer zone betw SWA and Angola
@TheMOONBEAM40 Here's a question for you, and feel free to ignore it like you have all the others i've asked, "Why didn't the Cubans take Mavinga let alone invade SWA and carry on until they reached Pretoria" as Castro said they would?
@TheMOONBEAM40 also do your research and tell me how many planes the SAAF lost an how many MiGs Angola lost? Did you know Angolan pilots were ordered to dump their payloads prior to landing as the Cubans had that little faith in their ability to fly. Again do your research and you'll see this is well documented by the Cubans. But let me guess that's just propaganda from that naughty "press Baron Murdock" (sic)!!!!!
@KalahariSurf Rather him than you ! Your syphilis has progressed to your brain !! I don't think even Cuba's world class doctors could help you . Go die in the desert you are of no use to mankind !
I always find "political warriors" (people who see everything through a political lens), interesting. So you have apolitical point of view. Like most who see the world through this lens, and with an irrational hatred of those who disagree with you or who you see as "Enemies." So you go out and regurgitate the same old tired INCORRECT,BIASED PROPAGANDA, that just do not have official facts to back it up.
ALL FALSE / UNTRUE - I find it funny - posted by someone who was not there. Who was 2 years old when it happened and did not live in South Africa or Angola. Were you there? How about asking someone who was? I hate to tell you this but your casualties are switched around. You do not even have to read South African books, but impartial analysis to come to a quick conclusion that CUBA / FAPLA did not come out looking good, or in possession of anything resembling Strategic or tactical "Victory."
Hey guys, those days are over, why the arguing? I wasn't there, I was prepared for it but then one day I remembered learning a new volkslied in school called Nkosi Sikel I Afrika and apparently I couldn't use the word kaffir any more, point of my story is we were all deceived by propaganda on both sides, now lets braai and enjoy freedom and when the day comes that we have to fight, we fight.
Western oppression is finished, stretch you muscles, so you can pull the "Rickshaw" for the Chinese businessman on his way to perform an audit at a company formerly owned by a European,
yeah,, as I sit here in my central London flat 35 years later, with a second home in South Africa, deciding whether to wear my Rolex or my Breitling watch tomorrow, spending my holdiays in a Swiss spa, I really feel like a loser in the late-seventies Angolan War. I wonder where the same-aged Cuban loser is now? The only thing worse than an island-Cuban is the sort of South African chicken who wouldn't do military service or didn't volunteer for the Border! As Cuba falls, as Libya has fallen.....
forget these clowns, the fault was mainly ours'. We received no unconventional weapons training in the SADF, we received no advanced weapons' training, our training was largely determined by our enemies. We weren't real enough as soldiers and the Army wasn't inclusive enough. This minimalism has cost us South Africa. A conflict with such low-class opponents as the Cubans means nothing-the next round of the fight for our own country is going to be ten times more difficult than the Boers faced.
@staggerlee2011 Must be painful not be able to sleep, thinking how a "low-class" opponent, made you run back to your white ghetto...That's why CIA gave up on you, because your bunch of pussy!!
A chemical gas attack never occurred to the naive South Africans. 800 men were sleeping, 100 on guard, all knocked out by Kolokol 1, August 1977. Katima. It works in three seconds and could have killed us. The Spetsnas wore Darth Vader type breathing aparatus and fired the gas in canisters. Their helicopter was huge and made a weird, low noise. I was one of the last guards knocked out. I even got to the guardhouse. This sequence of actions has been mistaken as a UFO event, esp. Zimbabwe school'83
Note all the South African Land Cruiser pick-ups in Libya, also made in South Africa.Thiose things are terrific, we used them in Angola and the Caprivi. Thanks to Tom Clancy's new book and some research I finally solved a big problem. It's worried me for 35 years. In August 1977 the Soviets used Kolokol 1 against the camp and cop staion at Katima Mulilo. Spetsnas walked right through the camp. No casualties. The Russians already had a super-quiet giant helicopter. Our lack of preparedness=bad.
Nice to see the old R-1 being so widely used in Libya and making the Ak look inferior. The Belgians have clearly given the Rebels all the FN-7,62's they want, and the automatic firing problems seem to be worked out. Note all the G4,G5,G6's Nelson Mandela gave Gadaffi, on the way to collect his Nobel Peace Price. Does the ANC ever get anything right? Note all the older R-1's Gadaffis people have got, Made in South Africa. Wat 'n donderse doos!
ha ha, funny guy! That's what Uncle Fidel told you huh? You keep trying to convince yourself of all this fluff. This kind of horseshit just shows your ignorance!! We should thank guys like this for demonstrating the failures of communist education in such a convincing manner!!! And then I am not even talking about the obvious spelling mistakes in the first second of the video yet. What a chop!!!
Ha, Ha!! -you really are funny! So hows Communism worked out for Sub-Saharan Africa? - Not so well, once the rich, evil, capitalist/colonialist]s money ran out huh? So the question is: Are you living in the glorious Socialist paradise of Cuba? Were you or anyone you know at Cuito Cuanavale? or the great Cuban/SWAP/FAPLA parade down Church st. in Pretoria?

I'll give you the SA Mirage and maybe a few more clips. Very fitting you used Linkin Parks "Numb" song to accompany this absolute dreadful inaccurate video. A very Numb production.....

TheJago64 1 week ago
@TheJago64 In your dreams ! Only if you totally ignore history .I.E Statements by the recipients of Cuban intervention . ANC AND NELSON Mandala's statements CUITO CUANAVALE was the turning point when liberation forces backed by Cuban forces cut off sadf from their Namibian bases forcing Crocker US diplomat to call a ceasefire .Retreat of sadf THEN the exit of Cuban forces back home JOB DONE .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40
TheJago64 1 week ago
@TheJago64 tchipa was attacked by Cuban migs .About 34 sadf died . You are going against logic when you say Madela + ANC people are liars . WHY should he give credit to Foreign troops ? I do not think swapo or other liberation forces who lost many comrades would tolerate that ! If you let yourself think in a rational manner . It would become obvious , your assumption is incorrect .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40

KalahariSurf 1 week ago
that doesn't mean that's it's always effective.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 and i fail to see why you would believe the words of a person that wasn't at Cuito to the words of numerous others that were there? Why did it take the intervention of EO to turn the tide in the Angolan civil war? And the use of children in war is a barbaric thing to do and it should never be allowed to happen and never should one try and justify it regardless of how noble one thinks a political cause is.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
also read Animal Farm or re-read i've you've already read it.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
people can support any political party they want to as far as i've concerned, bar a few extreme cases, just remember governments don't make money they spend it and all the money a government gets is ultimately from tax payers and that money is meant to be spent to protect people but also to improve their lot. And if your political party thinks fuck the masses i'm going to ride this gravy time like the luxuriant giving whore that it is, fuck everyone else this can't last so take

I fail to see why provincial officials spend millions on new cars and hotels when others don't even have house let alone water or electricity

The SADF is still there by the way, it has just been amalgamated with MK and is now only a shadow of what it once was. I must say, they've got some pretty nice toys now that there is no arms embargo.

Also many Cubans bodies were left in Angola, their families weren't permitted to claim the bodies. Also many Cuban soldiers were not allowed back to mainland Cuba due to AIDS

TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf I thought we covered a wide range of subjects including democracy or lack of it EVEN SO ! I can only give you room for thought , Cannot do anymore enjoyed the exchange . Bye +Cheers !
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 lol, you gave me room for thought? You're the one that's been avoiding my questions by constantly changing topics. but you're right this discussion is going nowhere. Just note the comments of the people that were actually at Cuito. How many ex Cuban, PLAN, MK or FAPLA cadres comment on here? Why did Cuba ask to join the peace talks betw. SA & Angola - talks that had started prior to the campaign at Cuito. Research operation Alpha Centauri for a start
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 Are you unwilling to answer the questions i have asked that are relevant to the video that you constantly change the subject? If my questions are too poignant than let me know and i'll lower the level of the discussion in order for you to participate in a meaningful and applicable manner. Just say the word

@KalahariSurf Shoot away I really thought I had covered everything to the best of my knowledge !
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 "Cuba, No filthy rich" you say. Tell me about the Castro brothers then are they just as poor as the average Cuban. And while we're on that topic. Why do you think so many Cubans are trying to get to the USA? And why people the world over aren't flocking to Cuba in their droves? And as for education in Cuba why did the ANC government send back all the Cuban Doctors? It was because their training was sub-standard.Again do your research and you'll see i am right.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf Honestly you have really been "GOT AT" Cuban healthcare is really top notch ,+ free . Why would Argentine football star MARADONNA and the likes of rich Americans like boxer MIKE TYSON get treated in Havana Because they wanted the best . People from all over Latin America (capitalist countries) go to USA . They are usually ECONOMIC .immigrants, sadly its often US foreign policies that cause the exodus .Millions have left once prosperous countries like Iraq
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf leaders in every country have to have decent places to entertain foreign statesmen etc. But the president came from a land owning family .He was wealthy , Like CHE who was a doctor ,He was sickened by the extreme poverty of people .One of the first things he did was give his land for use of the peasants .He really lives a simple life You Never see him in a mansion or palace unless he goes a broad . people CALL themselves christian. He has the morality they lack
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 so i've trashed your claim that only blacks are poor in the USA and that only whites are rich. And as for your suggestion that i should speak to the millions of blacks in brutal prisons, are you trying to imply whites are imprisoned in less brutal goals? I suggest you try and get your points across in a structured manner as it the moment it seems you're just rambling on inanely and clutching at straws
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf I don't think so . Have you ever watched USA documentaries such as JAIL ? The lynching are rare now and their has been much progress after many decades of discrimination and the murder of civil rights leaders . 50 million citizens live in dire poverty even today many without basic healthcare . True millions of poor whites also . They still have chain gangs !. What can one man spend 7 $12 billion on . $ is their god .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf I know their was no democracy in Apartheid S. Africa .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 If under the Nats Black people were allowed to vote, but only vote for the NP, would you consider that a democracy? So PLEASE don't try and insult by trying to bullshit me that Cuba is a democracy. However, if you really believe that it is, you really do deserve my sympathy. I eagerly await for your answers to these questions, but let me guess these will be ignored too
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 also why constantly move the goal posts unless you're clucking at straws i thought this was about Angola, Namibia, SA and Cuba? Should we add China, Syria and Burma to the conversation or should we just stuck the the topic at hand? I suggest you try and stay focused. But we both know why you're unwilling to can answer my questions about political freedom in Cuba and Angola -it's because there are none.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf I know the difference between REAL history and PROPAGANDA ! Many well meaning people get all their info. from the local media ie Sky News etc "imbedded " journalist WHO SUPPORT THE STATUS QUO rather than the truth . I have tried at times to give you examples in the past where massive lies have been exposed . At the moment the Press Baron Murdock is under investigation UK for what has been called MAFIA like empire .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@TheMOONBEAM40 i asked about Angola's spending not about history so i fail to see why you mention MURDOCH. And umm please show me one example where you "have tried at times to give (me) examples in the past where massive lies have been exposed". Do you have have proof where you gave me examples or did you just mean to give examples and forgot?
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 or are you trying to suggest that Angola has had many more democratic elections than the media has reported? And speaking of the media, let's talk about the Protection of Information Bill. Many prominent anti apartheid activists have speak it's just as repressive, if not even more so, as the media laws linked with the State of Emergency legislation. but let me guess you'll claim you've already addressed that point?:))) So should we return to the matter at hand?
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf I have never made any claims about Angola ! you are arguing with yourself ! I would say their are many independent countries who are run in a bad way .All over the world regimes are being overthrown . But it should be by their own people ! Not an opportunity for the hyenas to move in .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 umm i suggest you go back and re-read your earlier comments, you were expounding the virtues of Cuban and Angolan troops for fihthing for freedom and i pointed out it's great to pontificate about about freedoms for others while denying it to your own people. Check the comments and you'll see i'm right. However, if you now feel the need to retrct your earlier claims then please do so. It's what i have been saying ALL along:)))) Yet, i'm arguing myself? lol
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 you say "(a)ll over the world regimes are being overthrown . But it should be by their own people !" So by your assertion i can only conclude that you were morally opposed to Cubans assisting SWAPO with regime change? Let me guess you're opposed to it generally unless it helps your cause. Another case of special pleading? If that's how your mind works let me know and i'll change my arguments to as as inconsistent as yours are
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf When the indigenous people are deciding their own future yes , But the people of South Africa were denied that option by Colonial settlers and ruthless mercenaries recruited from Europe and were supported by foreign powers IE Reagan + Thacher . This was not just about a change of government . It was a war for independence for a African country Which came about after much sacrifice .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 or would you prefer to continue to avoid all my questions?
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 also do your research and you'll see resource allocation in Angola is more skewed than it was under the NP in SA. And please if you want to try and challenge this i ask you so it with facts and figures. Look at the fairly recent arms deal scandal between Angola and France just as one example. Dos Santos, his family and friends get richer and ordinary Angolans get killed
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf Whats the point? war is over ! give peace a chance !!
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 did i ever once say i wanted to return to the days of war? I was merely pointing out your mistakes in claiming that countries like Angola and Cuba are free, but again if my arguments are too difficult for you to counter then please continue to move the goal posts and constantly avoid the questions i ask. You haven't mentioned the weather yet so feel free to use the weather to avoid answering the questions i've re-asked:)))

yes we Angolans and Cubans lost more soldiers and civilians than South Africa but if that was enough to end the war in our territory then the victory is for the Angolan and Cubans Revolutionaries. the Apertheid army lost because they didn't continue the fight, in my dictionary that means "To Give Up" , Cant retarded people give a meaning of "to give up or not continuing?" comon we all went to school!

joebhoy182 4 months ago
@joebhoy182 you never brought apartheid to its knees,South African whites held a referendumwhere 63% of the white electorate voted in favour of allowing the other races the right to vote.

Katyusha75 1 month ago
@joebhoy182 Someone has obviously never studied history outside of the mass of leftist propaganda that the West spouts constantly. Apartheid ended by a vote, cast by the South African people, for power-sharing; and finally by FW De Klerk's handover of the government. The SADF was still the most powerful military force in Africa at the end of the eighties, by far - look at the facts about Cuito Cuanavale - the Reds lost more men in that battle than we did in the entire war - that is all...
uzziah120000 3 months ago
@uzziah120000 How many school kids were shot before you decided to give the majority a vote ? WHY would this MIGHTY sadf suddenly convert to democrats. . Because of African nationalist fighters backed by Cubans + world wide outrage . Everyone is RED and De Klerk turned a new leaf !! You really GLOSS things over .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 see you're lack of knowledge is evident yet again. The Cuito battle was an annual event. Having the MiGs at Cuito suited the SAAF fine as it was well within striking distance. And speaking of dead schoolkids ask your Angolan and SWAPO buddies why they kidnapped schoolkids and used them as soldiers. There are people on here that claim to be have high up in PLAN that have admitted that SWAPO kidnapped schoolkids.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf shooting schoolkids who call for freedom from colonial settlers in their homeland is hugely different from mobilizing young patriots to fight for freedom from those settlers .
TheMOONBEAM40 1 week ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 lol "mobilizing young patriots"? If they were that patriotic why did they have to get forced to fight? @TheMOONBEAM40 and speaking of colonial settlers, here's a bit of African history for you. Did you know the Xhosa only settled in South Africa just before the Europeans? I thought not.
KalahariSurf 1 week ago
@KalahariSurf If the migs swept the mirages from the skies .WHY should the sadf be happy to have them in a place were they were so effective .
TheMOONBEAM40 4 days ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 as i said earlier Cuito was an annual event. SWAPO would move south in preparation to infiltrate SWA and the SADF would contact a few ops to disrupt the build-up. Mirages would fly into Angolan airspace get picked up on radar then dive to below detection height, MiGs would scramble from Cuito and the G4s and 5s would pound the Cuito airfield. It was never an objective to take all of Angola merely to create a buffer zone betw SWA and Angola
KalahariSurf 2 days ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 Here's a question for you, and feel free to ignore it like you have all the others i've asked, "Why didn't the Cubans take Mavinga let alone invade SWA and carry on until they reached Pretoria" as Castro said they would?
KalahariSurf 2 days ago
@TheMOONBEAM40 also do your research and tell me how many planes the SAAF lost an how many MiGs Angola lost? Did you know Angolan pilots were ordered to dump their payloads prior to landing as the Cubans had that little faith in their ability to fly. Again do your research and you'll see this is well documented by the Cubans. But let me guess that's just propaganda from that naughty "press Baron Murdock" (sic)!!!!!

You do not even have to read South African books, but impartial analysis to come to a quick conclusion that CUBA / FAPLA did not come out looking good, or in possession of anything resembling Strategic or tactical "Victory."

yeah,, as I sit here in my central London flat 35 years later, with a second home in South Africa, deciding whether to wear my Rolex or my Breitling watch tomorrow, spending my holdiays in a Swiss spa, I really feel like a loser in the late-seventies Angolan War. I wonder where the same-aged Cuban loser is now? The only thing worse than an island-Cuban is the sort of South African chicken who wouldn't do military service or didn't volunteer for the Border! As Cuba falls, as Libya has fallen.....
staggerlee2011 4 months ago
forget these clowns, the fault was mainly ours'.
