When people hear that story, theyre told that people started to speak in languages that they were never taught before and that clearly doesnt happen. I disagree with those who feel that the gift of tongues is fake.I was saved in December of 2009, and received the gift of tongues at the end of last year. There was nothing fake nor phony about it, nor was I coerced or persuaded to do so. It is a very real phenomena. I simply asked the Lord for this gift, and I received it. I too initially doubted the legitimacy of this, until I finally stepped out on faith and the Lord honored my request.This has nothing to do with religion, but relationship!

I got filled with the Holy Spirit at work last night! I was just shaking for no apparent reason and prayed to the Lord to have his way. So glad I have the Holy Spirit in me. But i havent spoke in tongues yet. Cant wait for that!!!

If you read the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 14 and can STILL believe that everyone can AND SHOULD speak in tongues in the Church you have simply misinterpreted or have blatantly defied God. I once heard a Pentecostal preacher say "Go back to Acts (the book in the Bible) and get it right". Why? Because it mentions the day of Pentecost? But she was not out in public she was at home in her room alone communicating with God personally. Thats the way the Bible says to do and not out in public unless you have an interperter so as not to confuse the unbelivers and that is exactly what has been done here plus the fact that this child is exploited . @MultiBuakaw Then you obviously never experienced speaking in tongues. Nothing "overtakes" you. It is a dual relationship between you and Holy Spirit, which for those who know Him, is very very real. It is not made up. You can actually think of other things and speak tongues at the same time. This is what Paul was referring to when speaking of "praying without ceasing".

@MrBornagain78 Christ did not speak in tongues, as tongues is a sign of the filling of the Holy Spirit, whose purpose was to be an advocate and comforter to the early church, after Christ ascending and returned to heaven. Tongues is simply a sign of the filling of the Holy Spirit after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It has certain functions, both privately and publicly, but in and of itself is not a requirement of salvation. It is a blessing for Christians who have the faith to receive it.
@Stiagra Some people not All when they become Christians seem to get the idea that they are holier than thou attitude. This is sad when the truth is they are not and they seem to forget that we All have sinned and come short of the glory of God and not one of us is with out sin(faults). In terms of church application, Paul was explaining that tongues should be used with an interpreter so that all people in the congregation could benefit from the message, not just the speaker of tongues. There is nothing that says you should not speak tongues in a service, but that if you do, to speak it to yourself quietly if without an interpreter.

When Paul spoke of keeping tongues to himself, my understanding from the passage is that during a service one should keep uninterpreted
@throwshoesatobama tongues in low profile so there is no confusion when someone else who is speaking in tongues is being interpreted. The Holy Spirit moves all the time in services, this video is proof of that. Whether there is a camera there or not, others are still witnessing his gift. We don't know if this message was interpreted later or not.

Yes this is a wonderful gift from God our Father in heaven. 1st Corithians 12:10 and somewhere else in the new testament says about speaking in tongues. I go to a church that does this. And it's so wonderful! It's a gift from God! And I'm sure this boy enjoys having this gift. You are suppose to as a good Christian, as a good Jesus Christ follower. @LizzielovesJC Not everyone does. Paul himself made this point in scripture that some speak in tongues, others heal, others interpret, others prophesy. That doesn't mean that you can't do more than one of these things, but the gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit as per God's will. Prophesying, Biblically, is considered the "best" gift as it helps and uplifts the most people. But all gifts are wonderful in their own regard. To speak in tongues is not necessary for every believer nor required

@Godpleaser77 Scripture states that speaking in tongues is a heavenly or Earthly language which is unknown to the speaker that the Holy Spirit uses to advocate for the spirit of the speaker, to God. The Spirit will communicate though tongues to Christ the praryers of our soul that we cannot articulate with our own language. It seems like you forget what Paul said at 1Cor 14:28 that if there is no interpreter the speaker should remain silent. This gift of tongues was done away with after the apostles death. It was a gift that was only granted to the 1st century jews anyway. It was not granted to the gentiles.

My friend... toungues were never "done away with" you may be referring to the scripture, "but when that which is perfect is come, THEN that which is in part shall be done away." 1 Cor. 13:10, my dear brother.. when did that which is perfect arrive? I don't think that has come yet then Paul goes on and instructs more about tongues. the Bible says many things about tongues...
@bt7358 I agree with what you say, brother, when you say that tongues have not been "done away with", but i also highly agree with TitusChapter1Verse11, that if there is no interpretation the tongues should remain between the speaker and our Lord. "The spirits of the prophets are subject to the control of prophets. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:32)
@TitusChapter1Verse11 Aparently you need to do some more studying on these matters because it was given to the church. Those in Corinth were not just Jews, but Gentiles, and they were part of the church. Also, 1Cor 14:28 is talking about the gift of interpretation which is separate from the gift of tongues. It also says that person should be silent and speak to God and himself, which earlier is described as what happens when one speaks in tongues... They speak to God and themselves.

These gifts were given to the church until that which perfect has come, when they will be done away with. That is when Jesus comes for His church, because then there would be no need of healing, faith, wisdom and knowledge because then we will know all things, never become sick again, ect.
@TitusChapter1Verse11 To say speaking in tongues is of the devil, and any other gift of the Spirit, is basically blaspheming the Holy Spirit. So be careful what you say, because the last thing anyone needs is to do is just that. I'm not saying that to judge you, because the bible warns against judging others, but to give you a heads up. Tongues has a purpose, and 1 Cor 14 states what it's purpose is.. To edify the speaker, in which we pray things that we do not understand but the Spirit does.

I am thankful that the outpouring of God's Spirit, as promised in His Word, is very far reaching in our world today. @bt7358 Tongues is such a controversial subject. I've been a christian for over 5 years now, and I just recently gained understanding of tongues and their purpose and why some people don't understand it. Isaiah 28 and 1 Cor 14 spoke it loud and clear to me. Most of what I know has not been taught to me by my pastor, but by asking God to give me understanding by spending time in prayer and reading of the Word. But what my pastor teaches and preaches have always fallen in line with the Word.

When people hear that story, theyre told that people started to speak in languages that they were never taught before and that clearly doesnt happen. This child is not speaking to a deity. No deity or any sort of divine agent is speaking through him. This disturbing behavior is a result of a lifetime of sheltered living, force-fed beliefs, and indoctrination. When this child's elders told him that a divine sky-father will come down and make him speak in languages unknown, naturally that is what his brain will make his vocal cords do, due to a strong urge to obey and believe what his elders tell him. I disagree with those who feel that the gift of tongues is fake.I was saved in December of 2009, and received the gift of tongues at the end of last year. There was nothing fake nor phony about it, nor was I coerced or persuaded to do so. It is a very real phenomena. I simply asked the Lord for this gift, and I received it. I too initially doubted the legitimacy of this, until I finally stepped out on faith and the Lord honored my request.This has nothing to do with religion, but relationship!

I got filled with the Holy Spirit at work last night! I was just shaking for no apparent reason and prayed to the Lord to have his way. So glad I have the Holy Spirit in me. But i havent spoke in tongues yet. Cant wait for that!!!

If you read the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 14 and can STILL believe that everyone can AND SHOULD speak in tongues in the Church you have simply misinterpreted or have blatantly defied God. I once heard a Pentecostal preacher say "Go back to Acts (the book in the Bible) and get it right". Why? Because it mentions the day of Pentecost? Focusing on Acts but not paying attention to anything else may make sense to some. NOT ME. I'll worship in the way I WAS INSTRUCTED. Please go read it.

But she was not out in public she was at home in her room alone communicating with God personally. @MultiBuakaw Then you obviously never experienced speaking in tongues. Nothing "overtakes" you. It is a dual relationship between you and Holy Spirit, which for those who know Him, is very very real. It is not made up. You can actually think of other things and speak tongues at the same time. This is what Paul was referring to when speaking of "praying without ceasing".

@MrBornagain78 Christ did not speak in tongues, as tongues is a sign of the filling of the Holy Spirit, whose purpose was to be an advocate and comforter to the early church, after Christ ascending and returned to heaven. Tongues is simply a sign of the filling of the Holy Spirit after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It has certain functions, both privately and publicly, but in and of itself is not a requirement of salvation. It is a blessing for Christians who have the faith to receive it.

@throwshoesatobama True, however, scripture also clearly states that speaking in tongues is a sign for unbelievers so that God may be glorified. In terms of church application, Paul was explaining that tongues should be used with an interpreter so that all people in the congregation could benefit from the message, not just the speaker of tongues. There is nothing that says you should not speak tongues in a service, but that if you do, to speak it to yourself quietly if without an interpreter.

Since you have no interpreter of what this child is saying you should practice what you preach and keep it too yourself. But you do not know what he is saying and I doubt that he does either. @throwshoesatobama I did not post this video. In the terms of tongues being spoken without an interpreter - in this sense he is simply acting as a sign to unbelievers. When Paul spoke of keeping tongues to himself, my understanding from the passage is that during a service one should keep uninterpreted

@throwshoesatobama tongues in low profile so there is no confusion when someone else who is speaking in tongues is being interpreted. The Holy Spirit moves all the time in services, this video is proof of that. Whether there is a camera there or not, others are still witnessing his gift. We don't know if this message was interpreted later or not.

If the person that posted this video is trying to reach unbelievers and lead them to God they need to speak in a tongue that can be understood. Otherwise it is just useless noise to their ears. @throwshoesatobama How do you know who has been gifted or blessed by this video? Perhaps God has been glorified by something someone commented. Perhaps it is correction of posting such a video. Perhaps it simply acts as a witness. I can respect your point fully. But nothing happens which God does not want to happen. There is a reason why this video was posted. None of us can know for sure why. We simply must have faith that His Will will be done. Let's leave it at that.

Yes this is a wonderful gift from God our Father in heaven. 1st Corithians 12:10 and somewhere else in the new testament says about speaking in tongues. I go to a church that does this. And it's so wonderful! It's a gift from God! And I'm sure this boy enjoys having this gift. You are suppose to as a good Christian, as a good Jesus Christ follower. Iam a Christian, but have not spoke in tongues yet. :)

@LizzielovesJC Not everyone does. Paul himself made this point in scripture that some speak in tongues, others heal, others interpret, others prophesy. That doesn't mean that you can't do more than one of these things, but the gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit as per God's will. Prophesying, Biblically, is considered the "best" gift as it helps and uplifts the most people. But all gifts are wonderful in their own regard. To speak in tongues is not necessary for every believer nor required

I know parents that allowed their son to have a girlfriend over, alone in his room, with the door locked. The brother called my wife and I about this while it was happening, but we couldn't do anything about it. He now has a baby, and not allowed by the other parents to see it, this could have been avoided with parental discrection. another bro. now has herpes.

What is he saying? If this is a spiritual gift than he should also have the other spiritual gifts. Can this boy heal? I would say no. But most of all, what Apostle laid their hands on this boy? According to scripture the only way to get these spiritual gifs such as this one was the laying of the hands of an Apostle. But chances are this “Church” is not scripturally sound.

A. What is he saying?
B. What language is he speaking?
Pls don't waste either one of our times by saying that it is a special language that only God understands. For why do we pray anyways? So God can hear our prayers and answer them! Remember, He knows what we are praying before we pray!

@bt7358 I have no problems with the KJV! I just don't care for those who think it is the only version that one can hear from God! The problem you are having is A. context! Who was this written to? I use the NIV for casual reading, but when I am studying something I go to the original Hebrew and Greek!
The bottom line (in love) this is not the tongues of the Bible! This is babble! Anyone can speak it and many religions use it! Even a baby can speak it!

@Godpleaser77 Scripture states that speaking in tongues is a heavenly or Earthly language which is unknown to the speaker that the Holy Spirit uses to advocate for the spirit of the speaker, to God. The Spirit will communicate though tongues to Christ the praryers of our soul that we cannot articulate with our own language. Scripture clearly states that we will not understand what we are saying, and that we are speaking "mysteries" that at this point we cannot comprehend.

Isn't it interesting that up until the last 40 years or so there was no (NO) mention of this so-called tongues! Kind of make you think! And as far as you asking the question "what’s wrong with it"? It leads people into false doctrines and takes a person away from real prayer. Some claim there saved if they do this?

It seems like you forget what Paul said at 1Cor 14:28 that if there is no interpreter the speaker should remain silent. This gift of tongues was done away with after the apostles death. It was a gift that was only granted to the 1st century jews anyway. It was not granted to the gentiles.

My friend... toungues were never "done away with" you may be referring to the scripture, "but when that which is perfect is come, THEN that which is in part shall be done away." 1 Cor. 13:10, my dear brother.. when did that which is perfect arrive? I don't think that has come yet then Paul goes on and instructs more about tongues. the Bible says many things about tongues...

"The spirits of the prophets are subject to the control of prophets. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:32)

@TitusChapter1Verse11 Aparently you need to do some more studying on these matters because it was given to the church. Those in Corinth were not just Jews, but Gentiles, and they were part of the church. Also, 1Cor 14:28 is talking about the gift of interpretation which is separate from the gift of tongues. It also says that person should be silent and speak to God and himself, which earlier is described as what happens when one speaks in tongues... They speak to God and themselves.

@TitusChapter1Verse11 Also, I have seen several times that the gift of interpretation of tongues was used, and it was used in that manner, where one speaks and then another speaks what God had spoken to them. These gifts were given to the church until that which perfect has come, when they will be done away with. That is when Jesus comes for His church, because then there would be no need of healing, faith, wisdom and knowledge because then we will know all things, never become sick again, ect.

@TitusChapter1Verse11 To say speaking in tongues is of the devil, and any other gift of the Spirit, is basically blaspheming the Holy Spirit. So be careful what you say, because the last thing anyone needs is to do is just that. I'm not saying that to judge you, because the bible warns against judging others, but to give you a heads up. Tongues has a purpose, and 1 Cor 14 states what it's purpose is.. To edify the speaker, in which we pray things that we do not understand but the Spirit does.

I am thankful that the outpouring of God's Spirit, as promised in His Word, is very far reaching in our world today. There is an awesome hunger in many hearts to experience the baptism of the Holy Ghost, as it is written. My prayer is that you would open your heart to the Lord Jesus, search the scriptures, and receive the Holy Ghost for yourself! You will never be the same.

@bt7358 Tongues is such a controversial subject. I've been a christian for over 5 years now, and I just recently gained understanding of tongues and their purpose and why some people don't understand it. Isaiah 28 and 1 Cor 14 spoke it loud and clear to me. Most of what I know has not been taught to me by my pastor, but by asking God to give me understanding by spending time in prayer and reading of the Word. But what my pastor teaches and preaches have always fallen in line with the Word.

For example, look at the "Jesus Camp" videos. All those little kids can speak in tongues. I don't supposed the fact that the pastor orders them to has a thing to do with it, after all she tells them what to think and do every second.
