@TurtleyPompato But it doesn't hurt. Especially if the vocals are in other language than English. For example Týr: great band from Faroe Islands who actually do some of their songs in Faroese. You accept it right away because they are native speakers. It wouldn't be the same if Týr would come from, for example, Alabama. This comes out in live performances too. Certain people have a certain look on them and a certain air around them. It's like they know more about it because it's in their blood.

@Dortiph Personally I wouldn't put Finland in charge of melo-death (with what, CoB? yeah right). Melodic Death metal would be Sweden. You know, Opeth, Amon Amarth, Dan Swanö. Finland could be in charge of the folk scene, or at least one of the top countries in that. With bands like Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Moonsorrow, etc... And of course Norway would lead the Avant-Garde scene with Ulver and Solefald and the likes. But what am I yapping about when there is more Septic Flesh to listen to. Cheers!

@GoodMetalFTW prog and melodic death metal kind of intertwine; really, opeth is more prog than anything, but i still call them just melodeath. i don't like the term "progressive" because all music should be progressive - that's what music is, whether it be chord progressions [the basis of most modern music] or expressing moods/atmospheres.
