  • did u have dry eyes too cause i think i have the thyroid disease but i dnt knw how they test me for it??

  • im only 13 yrs old and i have hyper thyroidism and my doctor put me on 2 perscriptions, one is methimizole, (i think thats how u spell t) and ones is called synthroid . will either of those affect my hair because i am known for having great hair and i reallly dont want to lose it.

  • @sjheyhey699 Unless you have something serious like Graves' Disease your doctor should first have you look into natural & holistic remedies. Diet, exercise & stress have a great affect on thyroid function. You may just be ingesting too much iodine in your diet causing hyperthyroidism. Have a nutritionist examine & change your diet and see what happens after a few months.

  • I have just ask the lord to be with you through this journey. You will obtain all that is needed to know about this disease. Stay strong.

  • You are so right. I just learned that I have hypothyroidism. Your levels can be normal while experiencing symptoms. If anyone is taking synthroid do not take that it will cause your hair to fall out even more. Try Armour desiccated it is GREAT!

  • And most of all it is soooo cheap. It is natural and more like your own. When I took it I felt results immediately. I went from sleeping all day when I was off to not even taking a nap after using it. I recommend it I FEEL GREAT! Now, I'm waiting for my hair to grow back.

Was your hair falling out? If so, how long did it take for it to grow back?

  • I lost my thyroid 2 1/2 years ago to Thyroid Cancer and my dr has had trouble getting my T4 (thyroid hormone) to the correct blood level. I take the highest dose of synthroid.

In the meantime my hair continues to fall out, or is dry and brittle. I've always had thick, full bodied hair, so my self image has taken a beating. I continue to be positive but frankly of all the symptoms of this condition, hair loss is the worst!!

To anyone else affected by Thryoid Cancer, Thyca.org is very helpful!

  • I was diagnosed with hyperthroidism in November 06'. My throid had no nodules so I was given radioactive iodine treatment in December 06 causing me to become hypothyroid. My hair hasn't been the same since. I started out on 100 mg of synthroid and slowly moved up and then back down through the years. I am now on 75 mg of synthroid. I have blood work frequently to check my levels. Thyroid problems are a pain in my neck! Will there ever be any hope for my hair?? How did your situation work out?

  • @lowalker01 I have used synthroid too many years, didnt help. I still felt tired, depressed and had hait problems.I think synthroid its only a blocker, it doesnt cure at all. I read that thyroid and gluteen free diet has a link. Also cabbage effect on the thyroid gland. I am not a doctor I get informations from book of Datis Kharrazian.

  • Thyroid problems is something else. I was just diagnosed as of today. My hair has been falling out for a while and I thought it was my regimen. I have been having anxiety, dry skin and body aches. :(

  • @lovlilady Good luck to you. At lease you know what's going on now, hopefully they can get you on the right meds to control some of the symptoms. Now you can stop cursing you conditioner LOL Best of luck I hope everything works out:)

  • @lovlilady: There is a naturopathic approach to thyroid issues.

  • Very informative.

  • Thank you:)

  • Hypoparathyroidism is a debilitating disorder... Thank you for sharing this video. For some it can start with seizures, and can be controlled with medication, but there is no cure as of yet. Some of the ailments associated with this disorder includes Tetany, Seizures, chest pain, brittle nails and of course hair loss and dryness. Seeing your physician is the best remedy for help when you have these types of ailments.

  • Thank you so much:)

  • Omg TY For The Information, I would've never investigated in this..I've had a thryroid problem since I was 13 ! THANK U SO MUCH

  • Your welcome. Wow since you were 13 yea you should check it out. Good luck let me know if you find out any new thryroid info.

  • Wow...this really got me thinking. I wonder if this is genetic. My grandmother had a goiter on her tyroid and my mother had hers removed about 20 years ago (the doctors didn't know how to treat her and just cut it out, which I think wouldn't be needed today). I guess I'd better get it checked, I have noticed a considerable amount of hair loss in the past few months, but I thought it was just stress. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the comment. I think it is genetic. Hopefully yours is fine but it's worth checking. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

  • @lavmar1: There is a naturopathic approach to handle this issue. Also of course an allopathic practitioner has no clue on how to treat other than drug it or cut it.
