BTW... In the movie "Mary of Scotland" there are 2 different tunes played 3 times in the movie. Would any one who has seen the movie know what are those two tunes?
I 1st discovered me Scots ancestry watchin' an old b/w movie "Mary of Scotland", starring Katherine Hepburn in her 1st movie. The movie stank but upon hearing the pipes I could understand why the smallest man up front with the clan penant had leveled that skewer at the biggest lout, what with pipe n drums a'playin' & marching behind him, gettin' the blood fired up, ye get to feeling it would be a good day to kick ass on the biggest warrior you can find or a good day to die.
With this great pipe and drum music its no wonder why the Scottish and the Irish both always fought so bravely on - - who wouldn't with such stirring fare running through your veins.....
I've been to Highland Games and stood on the green as the pipe bands approached enmasse. It's the best feeling in the world and totally mind blowing. Love it!
Was bagpipes designed to put fear in the enemy? Because when they started playing. The percussion had a thunderous roar, and the the sound of the bagpipes had a loud echoe.
Now imagine awaiting a battle at a foggy morning in the highlands and the first thing you hear it this sound slowly approaching.

One piper sounds good enough, but a large group of them'll give you the goosebumps!

How can you "discover your ancestry"? The only way to do that is through some serious genealogy.
weirdo3331 2 years ago
My last name be McKinney. McKinney is a sept of the Clan MacKenzie (there is no 'z' in the highland gaelic(pronounced "gallick") tongue).
My family goes back 5 gen. in FL., 1 further back in GA., two back in Ireland, the rest from the Ross/ Cromarty highlands of Scotland.
I found my family's geneology chart. Any more questions?
BTW... One of the tattoos (tunes) I was looking for is 'Bonnets o'er the Border'.

Oh, and a tattoo either a drawing with ink in your skin, a drum beat/bugle call, or a millitary style show, not a tune.

Just imagine yourself an Argie in the Falklands in 1981, and this sound comes out of the mist at you. No wonder you ran like a turpentined dog.
