Interesting how Thiago Alves and Kenny Florian had to wait for their respective title shots due to this main event fight at UFC 94 and neither of them could beat the champion at their weight class once they got their shot. They had all that time to train and they still couldn't win, it says a lot about the level that GSP and Penn are at right now.

But I hope AFFLICTION does not fall. They are putting together great cards and last week had the #1 vs #2 HW in the world fight. They need to get rid of the dead weight, but to wish for the demise of an MMA organization who pays fighters well and delivers great fights is something I can't do.

As for WAMMA, I like what they are trying to do. They would have no prob with UFC guys holding WAMMA belts but the UFC is not in support of them for monopoly purposes.

But to each, his own.

Big difference though. The UFC doesn't have the best talent. Doesn't pay the best salaries and most importantly, The NFL has pensions, benefits, health/life insurance, and a ton of other things for it's "fighters" that the UFC is not even willing to think about.

If the UFC was run like The NFL, NBA, MLB, etc, I would want them to get all the best talent in one league. But they aren't. The fighters are often taken advantage of, have no union and are making 2% of the profit.

A lot of these "MMA Fighters" will end up broke, with no pension and working as grocery baggers at the age of 65 if something isn't done.

Especially the ones without schools, endorsements and a good accountant.

MMA right now, is like the 50's for the NHL. There is a belief that the fighters are making a lot more then they really are. Just because they are on TV, folks think they are bringing in the millions. The vast majority of fighters are not.

Average Salary in UFC is 31,000 A year.

UFC can't kick their champ out of the UFC

Nice man. I think we are gonna see quite a bit of standup in this fight. Many championship-level fights spend a large amount of time on the feet, i've noticed.

Other than that, I think you hit the nail on the head. Bj Penn has to fight the best athlete in the UFC.

And yes, GSP needs to stay at 170. You don't need to GO UP in weight to fight a guy better than you. Silva needs to look to the 205 class if he wants to continue to challenge himself.
