  • i love this entire album

  • "We are people of the mighty , mighty people of the sun. In our heart lies all the anwers, from the truth you can't run from".!!!!!!!

  • @TheJanetsvids ....no, we are not "mud" people. we are what your family looks like. you just don't want to believe the truth. we are all people, of the sun. @TheJanetsvids, the "young ones" should know by now. keep tellin them.

  • it felt weird after the music stopped

  • Man thanks so much for uploading this album!... This is the best one in this album (though decision). No way you can dislike this!!

  • @TheJanetsvids What the heck man?

  • @TheJanetsvids lol This is a site regarding the 1974 hit "Mighty Mighty" by Earth, Wind & Fire...I see that you have no one to play with..so go & play with yourself. Bye. EWF FOREVER!

  • @TheJanetsvids lol You're miserable..eat more fiber & prunes...it'll pass.

  • @TheJanetsvids lol for one, I'm black. For two, I can tell that your parental controls weren't set...for three, I could stoop to your level, but that's not what I choose to do. You're just as ignorant as some of the bigoted white people out there. Please, get a clue & get a life. EWF forever!

  • @TheJanetsvids There is "White Soul"....AWB - Average White Band are really good people..I know them personally..so is Bob James & the Bee Gees...it has no color...there are 'black' artists who are in it just for the money...there is no more 'message in the music' like Stevie, The O'Jays & EWF.

  • "What you gonna do" my cousin would sing "I'm a prostitute"

  • yes sir!!!!

  • God intended music to be happy not miserable, dark, and depressing. Music that is a tiny preview of Heaven. The devil and evil men's sinful hearts created their love full of hard hearted pride of doom and gloom music. Those are the selfish miserable stubborn losers in the end forever.

  • @BBQFanNo1 this is true,,love saves the day!

  • Happy music forever.

  • At 2:43 Phillip Bailey hits a high note that started my neighborhood dogs to bark.!! j/k....

  • This is one of my favorites by them.....i'm shaking my head and trying to type at the same time!

  • THE ELEMENTS OF THE UNIVERSE! I love the funk! Baddest band ever!

  • @MrKenndawg

TRUE SO TRUE! GOD BLESS YOU!

  • Verdine favor Ashford alot I wonder if they were related and didn't know it.

  • I love early EWF!!! The later stuff was good, but I love the rawer edge of the early stuff.

  • ..."Spread your love for a brighter day, for what you search you'll find a way."

  • PEACE AND LOVE!

  • these cats were ALWAYS a step or two ahead of everyone else in the game back then. this was released in 1974 but the groove sounds like something from around '78 or so.

  • Do the bugaloo

  • TY for the post I was 13 in Adana Turkei (lol)

  • "We are people of The Mighty, mighty people of the sun. In our hearts lie all the answers to the Truth you cant run from"

  • Did you know this LP by EWF was recorded at the now-closed Caribou Ranch recording studio in August 1973(for the album's 1974 release)?

  • wow, this was back in the day when Black was first Beautiful, and people were realizing it - Black Pride, Black Power - wonderful to see, what joy, power, optimism, idealism - a great time in US cultural history

  • I remember this song on Soul Train . They dance down the Soul Train line this . I was about 15 . I wanna to go on Soul Train

  • this was their second album. it followed their " head to the sky " album. both were great albums.

  • @alexalot23 - this was their 3rd album actually

  • @MrReminisce78 Wasn't this their FIFTH album? I believe this is the order:

    1st- Earth, Wind & Fire

    2nd- The Need of Love

    3rd- Last Days and Time

    4th- Head to the Sky

    5th- Open Our Eyes

And then a slew of classics.

  • @alexalot23 MrReminisce is right. This was their third album. Their first album was called, "Last Days and Time"

  • lyrically E W & F untouchable especially head to the sky, the world is a masqeurade, evil,,

  • EWF @ THEIR PEAK.

  • Greatest funky music !!

  • Hi..I know people get excited about EW&F when posting their music - however being a EW&F fan like many people and being a numerous concert goer seeing them many times(I witness the EW&F and Richard Pryor concert!) on not to berate but to inform you that this tune is not from the Open our eyes LP but from the " Last days and times LP. This LP had one of the funkiest tunes on it "Kalimba Story" at the time

Mighty Mighty was a tune along with the gargantous Africanus --Power-

  • @mrzeedmanful Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but I have an original issue LP here and it's the first song on side one.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrzeedmanful --Im sorry but your wrong I have open our eyes and Mighty Mighty is on there, its the first song on side one....and Kalimba Storyis on there too..check out your cd if you have one..or better yet check out Wikipedia and you will see for yourself

  • My favorite (of many) E,W&F track of all-time. Where to begin? Drummer(s) were always in the pocket, bass lines that rattle bones, horns that punch & pop, sick & unforgettable melodies, harmonies from above, two hall of fame lead vocalists that were perfectly complimentary and hooks that killed! You could make the case E,W&F were one of the greatest bands of all-time and need to be mentioned with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stones, Eagles, U2, Police as all time best!? I'm just sayin'

  • @phunkshui They are definitely in that group... and high up in it, too!!! This song would need to be in the time capsule, so those, 100 years from now, who wonder about who was EW&F, would have all their questions answered.

  • "WE ARE PEOPLE OF THE MIGHTY, MIGHTY PEOPLE OF THE SUN, IN OUR HEART LIES ALL THE ANSWERS TO THE TRUTH YOU CAN"T RUN FROM"!!!!

  • This song goes so hard!!!

  • PURE FUNK! LET ME GET OUT MY SKATES!! GREAT MEMORIES! :-)

  • What a bassline... amazing funky energy... Maurice Whites unique talent shines really in this song. God bless EWF.

  • @Rasmarker Verdine's a skinny guy, but he plays a FAT bass! Amen.

  • @Larrymh07 Amém Irmãos!!!!

  • SOUL TRAIN LINES ANYONE !!!!!

  • high school memories...

  • EW&F hit #29 in Billboard, 5-18-74. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • 4 people are not mighty people of the sun

  • Loved EWF since I was a kid. The tunes and rhythms always great, the lyrics even better!

  • do that bass mighty mighty stile go ewf

  • Damoolah, thanks for posting this joint on here. My moms still have this on lp. I also have this added to my vinyl collection, too.

  • People who said that there were no females in their band are 1000 percent wrong. They had a female in there band from 1971 to 1973. First female was Sherry Scott on their very first album back in 1970to 1971. The second female was Jessica Cleaves who was on their "Last Days of Time" album1972 and the "Head to the Sky' in 1973

  • ORIGNALY EWF HAD A FEMALE 1971

  • @montequarles her name was Jessica Cleaves... she left to join The Friends of Distinction

  • yes

  • This is my THEME!!! Thanks for posting!!!

  • African American music in the 70's was all about self-help -- these days it's all about "help yourself" -- it's a great thing to seek success, but better to pursue excellence

  • Thank you afrikanrecoveryatmsn. I received your email and looked it up on google and it was Jessica Cleaves from the "Friends of Distinction", another fine and fabulous group. Thank you for your response and love of fine music...

  • @Hennesseyify.... Your right! It was Jessica Cleaves. She is on the Album cover of the Evil album. She sang the duet I'd Rather Have You on Last Days and Time and was also the background singer on Head to the sky'...

  • dABUTI

  • When Earth, Wind and Fire released their first album "Head to the Sky", I believe '71 or 72 there was a female singer in the group. All music subsequently afterwards she longer was with the group. One of the greatest bands of ALL TIME!!!!!!!

  • @hennesseyify Jessica Cleaves she was part of I believe The Friends of Distinction

  • THERE'S NO FEMALE IN THIS BAND EARTH WIND AND FIRE.IT'S ALL MALE BAND.

  • how stupid are the today rappres: the live in the belief that they have invented a new style but in realty they only have a monstrous delay of 30/40 years!!!!!

    I was born in the 1971 - SO W THE 70'Ssssssssss

  • they are all geniuses

  • All of a sudden it's 1975 in our dorm room in LaCrosse Wisconsin and Artie, Myself (Fitz), JD and Monte' (hey I didn't name the brother) are rehearsing our dance routine to take downtown and compete. Ha... thanks for posting this.

  • Who in the hell could dislike this?

  • :D !!!!!

  • Did Led Zeplin or the Stones have females, why should EWF be expected to have them. You want a sure way to kill a band, bring females into the group, instant death. There's a reason men groups steer clear of that. Believe me, they all gave it a try and it just don't work.

  • What the fuck are you talking about dude, someone put a comment about no female in EW&F back in the day they're were two. If my statement was referring to you do your homework.

  • Please did your home work before you assume something you don't know.

  • @darron6owell Please stop commenting. You're embarrassing your self.

  • @lightning95sc EWF had female singers in 1971 with Sherry Scott "Think About Loving You" & Jessica Cleaves in 1972 "Head To The Sky"LP.

  • the first EWF album i heard and experienced as a kid, these guys were my musical heros

  • Can anyone tell me what they are saying at the bridges before the chorus????? "know to say, You'll find a way"...... .and again after "one more time, head to the sky"...... Right before "We are the people of the mighty......

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING??????

  • What album was it when EW&F had the female member?

  • @Toi11226 EWF never had female members until the new millenium. In the 80's, Maurice White produced for The Emotions and they sang on Boogie Wonderland.

  • This song marks the first time I'd ever become aware of Earth, Wind & Fire, while watching Soul Train, when I was 10 years old. They played it during the dance line, and I remember thinking, WHO IS THAT?!! Once I found out, I got my mother to buy me the album. Then my friend and I listened to it while looking at the album jacket...checking out their mystical clothing, the symbols and zodiac signs. You can't get that from downloading Itunes.

  • All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!

  • 2 people are not mighty mighty.

  • IBLOVIN ME SOM MIGHTYMIGHTY..LOL

  • This sh___ is bad!!!!!! Too funky in here!

  • best band ever

  • Powerful lyrics!

  • @busythinker1 who's the Son or Sun then? ;)

  • We are people, of the mighty

    Mighty people of the Son

In our hearts lies all the answers

To the truth you can't run from :)

  • NOW THIS IS MUSIC!!!! LISTEN TO VERDINE WHITE'S BASELINES....TRULY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!11!

  • These guys are TRUE LEGENDS!!!!

  • MUSIC REALLY HAS CHANGED>>>>> BUT ANYWAYS IMA PRODUCER IF YOU NEED A BEAT MADE FOR YOU SEND ME A MSG

  • Philip Bailey, (as usual), is in the Stratosphere with the high notes

  • Pure funk

  • For all you aching and hurt souls take a listen to this and let it get into you....

  • CLASSIC dirty funk from back in the day, before E, W & F went mainstream. Still have my 45 RPM.

  • Brothers and Sisters, I just recently went and edited Wikepedia's entry for disco. I deleted all that crap about black music being disco. Once again white rock critics looked at black music as being the same as disco. My lord they even had Isaac Hayes and Wille Hutch list as disco artists. If you have the time please delete those erroneous texts in wikipedia which describe late 60's and '70s Soul/R&B as disco. Someone even wrote Otis Redding as an early disco artist. WTF?

  • @hankaaron1961 Disco was just the flava of the day-groups like Chic didn't particularly like it but hey you mix what's current in with the sound to sell records. It's only the musical illiterates who can't tell one from the other-like the thousands who brought soulful records to the infamous anti-disco rally in Chicago summer of 1979.

  • @hankaaron1961

Ignorance is wonderful, isn't it? ;o)

Truly a disgrace that people can't seem to differentiate between different genres of music.

Although the likes of Isaac Hayes has crossed into more than one, and has "dabbled with"(I'm feeling the Christine O'Donnell in me tonight! LOL) disco, amongst others. Of that let there be no doubt. ;o)

Good to know that you've removed other erroneous non-facts however. Keep up the good work! ;o)))

  • GOOD LORD, Philip's got has some serious falsetto at the end!

  • I lost my virginity while this song was playing back in '76...by the way...EWF is great and so was the pussy!

  • Old School Soul Train Line Music!

  • @DatGirlG I AGREE!!

  • funk at an all time high level

  • STRICTLY BUGGA NOSE FUNK, OK TIME TO CUT UP THE RUG WE ARE SOUTHERN CAL THANK YOU FOR POSTING SUCH A POWERFUL NUMBER WHAT CLASS.

  • The two people who clicked dislike we're just drunk and accidentally missed thumbs up.....

  • Earth, Wind and Fire are a great funk group that have inspire me totally.

They are such a dynamic force and they made music so energetic and classical.

They are self-conscious and the masters of funk old school classics.

Big up to Brother Maurice White and Brother Phil Bailey.

  • wow! This is a classic. that chorus hook is unstoppable.

  • I remember watching my older sister and brother dance their asses off to this jam. The lyrics are hella deep. This was jam back in the day. Man, I wish music was this today

  • @enmaxus ...You are so right bout' how deep the lyrics are... took me several years before I could even relate on that level and fully understand what they meant.

  • In this song you get the 2 of the main messages of EWF. "Whatcha gonna do 'bout your living thing? Will you make it better or just complain". And "there are times when your bound to cry, one more time, HEAD TO THE SKY!" EWF were all about self help and keeping a relationship with God. SOmething that's greatly missing in today's "muzak". It's all about the bling bling and the bitches and hoes today.

  • @nidiaaw -So true, damn shame!! In the meantime, jam on jammit!!!!!!! OW!-OW!

  • @nidiaaw You are right, but you forgot the other important message: "We are mighty people of the sun." But stay tuned, we're bringing the spirit and the funk back soon. today's muzak is about to be yesterday's, as we bring the new fruit from the root."

  • this kind of disco is winnnar

  • "Ahhh yes sir!!!"

  • they don't make em like this no mo:(...this was funk when we had BANDS and SUBSTANCE

  • @radarlove2418 That is Philip Bailey doin' what only Phillip Bailey can do which is hit the third octave above middle C.

  • @radarlove2418
