God intended music to be happy not miserable, dark, and depressing. Music that is a tiny preview of Heaven. The devil and evil men's sinful hearts created their love full of hard hearted pride of doom and gloom music. Those are the selfish miserable stubborn losers in the end forever.

Hi..I know people get excited about EW&F when posting their music - however being a EW&F fan like many people and being a numerous concert goer seeing them many times(I witness the EW&F and Richard Pryor concert!) on not to berate but to inform you that this tune is not from the Open our eyes LP but from the " Last days and times LP. This LP had one of the funkiest tunes on it "Kalimba Story" at the time
Mighty Mighty was a tune along with the gargantous Africanus --Power-
@mrzeedmanful --Im sorry but your wrong I have open our eyes and Mighty Mighty is on there, its the first song on side one....and Kalimba Storyis on there too..check out your cd if you have one..or better yet check out Wikipedia and you will see for yourself
My favorite (of many) E,W&F track of all-time. Where to begin? Drummer(s) were always in the pocket, bass lines that rattle bones, horns that punch & pop, sick & unforgettable melodies, harmonies from above, two hall of fame lead vocalists that were perfectly complimentary and hooks that killed! You could make the case E,W&F were one of the greatest bands of all-time and need to be mentioned with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stones, Eagles, U2, Police as all time best!? I'm just sayin'
@phunkshui They are definitely in that group... and high up in it, too!!! This song would need to be in the time capsule, so those, 100 years from now, who wonder about who was EW&F, would have all their questions answered.
People who said that there were no females in their band are 1000 percent wrong. They had a female in there band from 1971 to 1973. First female was Sherry Scott on their very first album back in 1970to 1971. The second female was Jessica Cleaves who was on their "Last Days of Time" album1972 and the "Head to the Sky' in 1973
African American music in the 70's was all about self-help -- these days it's all about "help yourself" -- it's a great thing to seek success, but better to pursue excellence
Thank you afrikanrecoveryatmsn. I received your email and looked it up on google and it was Jessica Cleaves from the "Friends of Distinction", another fine and fabulous group. Thank you for your response and love of fine music...
@Hennesseyify.... Your right! It was Jessica Cleaves. She is on the Album cover of the Evil album. She sang the duet I'd Rather Have You on Last Days and Time and was also the background singer on Head to the sky'...
When Earth, Wind and Fire released their first album "Head to the Sky", I believe '71 or 72 there was a female singer in the group. All music subsequently afterwards she longer was with the group. One of the greatest bands of ALL TIME!!!!!!!
how stupid are the today rappres: the live in the belief that they have invented a new style but in realty they only have a monstrous delay of 30/40 years!!!!!
All of a sudden it's 1975 in our dorm room in LaCrosse Wisconsin and Artie, Myself (Fitz), JD and Monte' (hey I didn't name the brother) are rehearsing our dance routine to take downtown and compete. Ha... thanks for posting this.
Did Led Zeplin or the Stones have females, why should EWF be expected to have them. You want a sure way to kill a band, bring females into the group, instant death. There's a reason men groups steer clear of that. Believe me, they all gave it a try and it just don't work.
What the fuck are you talking about dude, someone put a comment about no female in EW&F back in the day they're were two. If my statement was referring to you do your homework.
Can anyone tell me what they are saying at the bridges before the chorus????? "know to say, You'll find a way"...... .and again after "one more time, head to the sky"...... Right before "We are the people of the mighty......
@Toi11226 EWF never had female members until the new millenium. In the 80's, Maurice White produced for The Emotions and they sang on Boogie Wonderland.
This song marks the first time I'd ever become aware of Earth, Wind & Fire, while watching Soul Train, when I was 10 years old. They played it during the dance line, and I remember thinking, WHO IS THAT?!! Once I found out, I got my mother to buy me the album. Then my friend and I listened to it while looking at the album jacket...checking out their mystical clothing, the symbols and zodiac signs. You can't get that from downloading Itunes.
TO THE TRUTH YOU CAN"T RUN FROM thats the 70's style as they said WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE.....music to keep you on track in case you fall off.
Brothers and Sisters, I just recently went and edited Wikepedia's entry for disco. I deleted all that crap about black music being disco. Once again white rock critics looked at black music as being the same as disco. My lord they even had Isaac Hayes and Wille Hutch list as disco artists. If you have the time please delete those erroneous texts in wikipedia which describe late 60's and '70s Soul/R&B as disco. Someone even wrote Otis Redding as an early disco artist. WTF?
@hankaaron1961 Disco was just the flava of the day-groups like Chic didn't particularly like it but hey you mix what's current in with the sound to sell records. It's only the musical illiterates who can't tell one from the other-like the thousands who brought soulful records to the infamous anti-disco rally in Chicago summer of 1979.
Truly a disgrace that people can't seem to differentiate between different genres of music.
Although the likes of Isaac Hayes has crossed into more than one, and has "dabbled with"(I'm feeling the Christine O'Donnell in me tonight! LOL) disco, amongst others. Of that let there be no doubt. ;o)
Good to know that you've removed other erroneous non-facts however. Keep up the good work! ;o)))
I remember watching my older sister and brother dance their asses off to this jam. The lyrics are hella deep. This was jam back in the day. Man, I wish music was this today
@enmaxus ...You are so right bout' how deep the lyrics are... took me several years before I could even relate on that level and fully understand what they meant.
In this song you get the 2 of the main messages of EWF. "Whatcha gonna do 'bout your living thing? Will you make it better or just complain". And "there are times when your bound to cry, one more time, HEAD TO THE SKY!" EWF were all about self help and keeping a relationship with God. SOmething that's greatly missing in today's "muzak". It's all about the bling bling and the bitches and hoes today.
@nidiaaw You are right, but you forgot the other important message: "We are mighty people of the sun." But stay tuned, we're bringing the spirit and the funk back soon. today's muzak is about to be yesterday's, as we bring the new fruit from the root."
Listen to Phillip Bailey scream!! THIS BOY IS SCREAMING HAHAH!! 2:39 !!! Listen to him scream. That is the highest falsetto note I have ever heard from him.

Earth, Wind and Fire are a great funk group that have inspire me totally.
They are such a dynamic force and they made music so energetic and classical.
They are self-conscious and the masters of funk old school classics.
Big up to Brother Maurice White and Brother Phil Bailey.

@nidiaaw -So true, damn shame!! In the meantime, jam on jammit!!!!!!! OW!-OW!
kheir03 11 months ago
@nidiaaw You are right, but you forgot the other important message: "We are mighty people of the sun." But stay tuned, we're bringing the spirit and the funk back soon. today's muzak is about to be yesterday's, as we bring the new fruit from the root."
