I wish the pre-9.6 playlist still existed. I don't like the new pattern interface (nor the new piano roll changes) but really like some of the new features and plugins you've developed. I don't see why the old playlist sequencer (the discreet rectangular bars for patterns) had to go! Whatever version I was using last (I reverted from 9.6 beta) had both the new playlist and the old and I wish that was still the case!
@DavidSpry - It does. See General Options > Enable Legacy Pattern blocks. However we recommend making the switch to the new workflow. It has to go to allow us to develop the Playlist in future.
Imageline should add a feature so when browsing files you can actually see the wave form. Also, the file should play for the full duration when selected. Add these two features to the browser that would make things easier that way, you can see the wave file and it plays entirely.

@RizzoAstronama Do you think anyone cares what you say? Every other DAW doesn't need an external device - Cubase, Reaper, Adobe Audition. Heck. I THINK FL STUDIO IS THE BEST PROGRAM FOR A ASPIRING PRODUCER ON A BUDGET AND HOW I SEE IT THEY ARE FAR FROM STINGY BUT HE YOU CANT PLEASE THE WORLD KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IMAGE LINE
@icameupwiththisname Sorry, actually going to have to give you a thumbs down on this one. I purchased FL Producer back in 2004 (I think FL 4.0). The sheer number of functionality upgrades and plugins given for free through updates have made this product one of the best purchases available in the music market. I can't even begin to contemplate why anyone would think otherwise. And, if the only thing you are able to do with base FL is make a piano song, I wouldn't blame the software.
Hey i need some help, these samples that were called "extra samples" came with Fl 9 boxed edition, and so i downloaded/installed them and I upgraded to Fl 9.1 and they aren't there. I have both Fl 9 and 9.1 but with all this new stuff, I wanna be able to make some stuff using those samples. So can anyone please help me out here? I just wanna know how do i get those in 9.1 and not only have for 9. Anybody? Please? Guru? Please? Thanks in advance
Dang your videos are pretty useful. I have a questions and anyone if you can, please help. but there were these samples that would come up in my library that were called "extra samples" and they came with fl studio 9. i downloaded fl studio 9.1 and I'm just asking, how do i get the "extra samples" into fl studio 9.1? Thanks in advance
They were called "extra samples" and they came with fl studio 9. i downloaded fl studio 9.1 and I'm just asking, how do i get the "extra samples" into fl studio 9.1. Thanks in advance
Help! Guys, i need help, i have fl 9.1 but in fl 9 i have all my samples and things in the library in fl 9. And when i go to 9.1 they aren't there. How do i get them from fl 9 to fl 9.1? I downloaded them from image line if that has anything to do with it. Someone please help! The samples and things i have in fl 9 arent in fl 9.1.. Somone please help! Thanks in advance
@1one3three2two Go to "Local disk C: Programme Files: Image-Line: FL Studio 9: Data: Patches: User (User is where i saved all my imported samples, if you don't use 'User' folder then just find where the samples are saved in this folder).
Then just copy (or cut) all you saved samples and post them into the same folder in the FL Studio 9.1: Data folder. You understand?
FL is stupid cos it makes you do it, it should either do this it self or automatically link to the folder they are currently in.
@Dymond200 I totally agree with you on how you have to do that. Dude, thank you so much for the help. One more thing though, if you buy some new ssamples on the internet, how would you open them in fl?
@1one3three2two no worries mate :) If u download or buy any samples off the net or get them on CD's, it's exactly the same process. Just drop the samples in you desired folder in the "Data" folder of FL. Also, these folders are customizable; i.e. you can add, copy, cut and delete any of these to anywhere (almost) in FL and open them to use through the FL "browser" on left. Like I said, I put everything into my User folder, and within that there are sub folders, such as Kicks, Hats, Claps etc :)
@Dymond200 Hey well thanks again for helping me out with those sample things, but i got another question and i was wondering if you could please help me out. Is it possible to save those samples like to a jump drive so that way i can take wherever i go? If so, can you just give me some brief instructions on how to do it? Thanks in advance..
@icameupwiththisname - I think you are a bit 'glass half empty' here. We give you Lifetime Free Updates to FL Studio. That's worth $99~$199 a year. Stingy we are not. Point noted however.
hey image line: i hv got a quastion !! When i use fl with many vst plugins it goes hack and destroy!! i mean while i make a beat with many melodies and many vst olugins it just smashes.. i got other music programs but i only have this problem in Fl.. It never does that in cubase.. i like to work in fl but it stops my work!! please help!!!
@richythepianoman doesn't matter about what DAW u use, its all about the Synths & Effects Plug-ins! With good plug-ins even FL 5 could make a classic hit!
Hey Imageline. I have an idea about a thing that would make my/others workflow SO much easier as a house producer. It would be so nice if the pianoroll grid would adjust to the swing amount - like in cubase.
@imageline Thanks I'm aware of this I'm actually one of the few ppl who read the manual lol. I'm talking about maybe a global groove/swing which you can apply to the whole song, it was just a suggestion anyway thanks for replying though.
@TheREALDJFatality - It's not clear what your problem is. The Demo is the full installer. Just download and re-install your FLRegKey.Reg file from your account page.
I wasn't keeping abreast with FL's updates, but I must say, I'm loving the direction FL Studio is heading. Can't wait to see what FL 10 has in store for the public!
Excellent job guys! Keep up the more than copacetic work!
Generally, everything in FL studio has 44.1Khz/24bit sound quality (unless you're feeling retro and purposely import low quality WAVs). What it comes down to is the shape of the sound wave. This is what composers, audio engineers and musicians spend their whole lives working with.
Sound Goodizer seems to work best when used somewhat minimally with an already well mixed track.
You can add glitter to a piece of crap, but it'll still be a piece of crap.
@manictiger - FL Studio uses 32 bit floating point which has far higher resolution than 24 bit. But that's for internal processing. Sample rate will be whatever you set it to.
I use it to compress my final track, but I do it very, very midly. The better I mix, the less I have to use it. If over done, it destroys the dynamics I want.
@SkylerOfficial - ASIO, that's an issue with your soundcard/ASIO driver we don't write that. Upgrading the a true multi-client sound-card with ASIO is the best way to go.
Fl studio is not cpu hungry, or at least ive never noticed, only maxed it out once and that was cos i put over 2gb of sounds into it, so id say is there a way for fl studio to use or read more than 2 gb Ram i have 6 gb but it dont see it :(
If you bought Fl studio 9 and you're upgrading to 9.1 will it automatically license fls9.1 or do you have to go to imagline website again and redownload the license & if you have external vst's on your fls 9 do you have to add them again once you've downloaded fls 9.1 ?
@imageline I have an old PC too. I used to use FLoops all the time until 7. Since then it's become more taxing on the CPU. The FL CPU meter is inaccurate. It usually reads at least 20% lower than more reliable meters (i.e.: Process Explorer or the standard Task Manager). I could load more VSTs on 5 then 7 when I switched. BTW, I'm not knocking FLoops, people! I love it and miss it but I need to get a new computer before I can use what look like features I wish were in other DAWs I'm using now.
I had also a phasing problem (especially drums - Parallel compression) using sends with none fl studio plugins and manually didnt know how to figure out what to put into settings of pdc section - and if this should be pre or post (whats the different btw) - that was really confusing..
Kool that you in ImageLine checking out our feedback and still improving yours software! Thanks for that and Your video posts!
For me Esspecially APDC and Impulse Response Reverb! Cant wait to try it! Could you tell me now, if I want to use none fl studio plugin in send channel (reverb/delay/compresor) is APDC work with them as well - is it keep all in sync?
If you want the best tool for dealing with changing pitch without changing tempo. Then it might be worth to get Celemony Melodyne. This comes as a plugin so you can use it in your favourite DAW.
@slightlytwistedagain i have this plugin but i love FL Studio as my best friend, FL Studio really best solution for producing, mixing, analysing or mastering any kind of stuff
@delux0r0815 - Plugin Delay Compensation. When you are using plugins that can't do low-latency real-time processing then you need to delay all the other plugins (on parallel mixer tracks) by the same amount to match. Otherwise you get out-of-sync-audio. If you don't know what it its, then that's a good thing. There is no need for a musician who puts a little thought into his DAW setup and plugin library to ever need it.
This is an excellent way to get us FL Studio users up to speed with the new stuff. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Yeah, "PDC" lost on me too... know what it is now :) I like the new F5/F6 browse feature, and the tempo sync tool in Playlist looks handy. Looking forward to getting 9.1
Oh, just a question, is there a way to open an entire folder of samples from the Browser (say, a whole folder of kick samples) into the Step Sequencer to save having to load each one individually?

rollhunter 1 year ago
@rollhunter
HD/HQ/Hi-fi audio is a marketing term that means absolutely nothing.
Digital sound can be likened to a staircase.
Sample rate is how long each step is (if they're short enough, it looks like a smooth surface instead of a stair case). 44.1khz is standard "Hi-fi".
Bit depth is how many levels of height the staircase can achieve (like starcraft terrain height). 16 and 24 bits are standard.
HD video refers to an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 16:10.
Hope that helps.
manictiger 1 year ago
Generally, everything in FL studio has 44.1Khz/24bit sound quality (unless you're feeling retro and purposely import low quality WAVs). What it comes down to is the shape of the sound wave. This is what composers, audio engineers and musicians spend their whole lives working with.
Sound Goodizer seems to work best when used somewhat minimally with an already well mixed track.
You can add glitter to a piece of crap, but it'll still be a piece of crap.
manictiger 1 year ago
@manictiger - FL Studio uses 32 bit floating point which has far higher resolution than 24 bit. But that's for internal processing. Sample rate will be whatever you set it to.
imageline 1 year ago
@imageline
That makes sense. Yeah, I guess I meant the settings. Usually it's default is set to 24-bit if I'm not mistaken.
Is there any audible difference between 32 floating point and 24 bit?

@manictiger thats true, you should never use it to compress your final track.
SoKalluS 1 year ago
@SoKalluS
I use it to compress my final track, but I do it very, very midly. The better I mix, the less I have to use it. If over done, it destroys the dynamics I want.

i think its better if they add. instead of having an effects window (f9)
why cant you just load different effects to separate vsts. like on sytrus right click add sidechain, easier then :)

Great new features. I'm going to try out the new plug-ins right away,
Especially the new Reeverb plug-in does interest me. I'm off to get mine!
Oh, and can you all improve ASIO4ALL a bit, if possible?
I have few problems with it that there's another application is using the audio, but these are not using sounds in any way.
SkylerOfficial 1 year ago
@SkylerOfficial - ASIO, that's an issue with your soundcard/ASIO driver we don't write that. Upgrading the a true multi-client sound-card with ASIO is the best way to go.

FL guru how do I upgrade my FL 9 into 9.1? Im asuming ive got free upgrades for life as I bruaght Fl 9 producer edition, please get back to me,cheers.
LittleGurner 1 year ago
Fl studio is not cpu hungry, or at least ive never noticed, only maxed it out once and that was cos i put over 2gb of sounds into it, so id say is there a way for fl studio to use or read more than 2 gb Ram i have 6 gb but it dont see it :(
ProducerTactics 1 year ago
If you bought Fl studio 9 and you're upgrading to 9.1 will it automatically license fls9.1 or do you have to go to imagline website again and redownload the license & if you have external vst's on your fls 9 do you have to add them again once you've downloaded fls 9.1 ?
LemonBoiLehclox 1 year ago
Can't you do something to make it more CPU friendly ? for us poor ass people that can't afford mac-books professional computer lol.
YungGuttaG1 1 year ago
@YungGuttaG1 - Make sure you check the page in the manual "Optimizing CPU and Memory Usage" under the section Trouble Shooting & FAQ's
imageline 1 year ago
@imageline I have an old PC too. I used to use FLoops all the time until 7. Since then it's become more taxing on the CPU. The FL CPU meter is inaccurate. It usually reads at least 20% lower than more reliable meters (i.e.: Process Explorer or the standard Task Manager). I could load more VSTs on 5 then 7 when I switched. BTW, I'm not knocking FLoops, people! I love it and miss it but I need to get a new computer before I can use what look like features I wish were in other DAWs I'm using now.

REALLY feature i need is faster pitch changer of sample without changing length of sound

@PONOSPONOS
If you want the best tool for dealing with changing pitch without changing tempo. Then it might be worth to get Celemony Melodyne. This comes as a plugin so you can use it in your favourite DAW.

what is PDC?
delux0r0815 1 year ago
@delux0r0815 - Plugin Delay Compensation. When you are using plugins that can't do low-latency real-time processing then you need to delay all the other plugins (on parallel mixer tracks) by the same amount to match. Otherwise you get out-of-sync-audio. If you don't know what it its, then that's a good thing. There is no need for a musician who puts a little thought into his DAW setup and plugin library to ever need it.
imageline 1 year ago
something I REALLY hope they do is that improve the CUT/slice tool
will let you cut samples not only vertically but horizontally.!!!!!

Is it already available with 9.0 or is it a new feature with 9.1?

Oh, just a question, is there a way to open an entire folder of samples from the Browser (say, a whole folder of kick samples) into the Step Sequencer to save having to load each one individually?
MrTranceNinja 1 year ago
@MrTranceNinja - Yes, right-click the folder in the browser, open the Windows browser and drag & drop. There are plans to make this easier in FL10.
