  • nobody dies normally in a Cronnenberg film, ever notice that?

  • Huh...he got the Existenz gun

  • The tradeshow dance sequence is one of the most bizzare 30 seconds of film ever.

  • Comment removed

  • man, l hope the remake gets scrapped. There is no reason to modernise Videodrome, this movie was made for the '80s.

  • Looks like that guy just got eaten by his own intestines. Fun times^^

  • @VoiceofCthulhu...yea lol guilty

  • the way interpreted it is that the government got him to assassinate his handlers just to make the project even more secret. His suicide was when he was of no longer use.

  • Death to Videodrome! Long Live the New Flesh!

  • sick how oldschool the effects are

  • 2:46 lol

  • Damn probably the most disturbing death that David Cronenberg has ever did. getting shot by a tumor weapon and then agonizing on the floor, waiting to explode like a baloon from a fast apce cancer EEEEWWWWWW.

  • I've got James Woods

  • I could never understand what the flying fuck was happening in this movie, mostly because what happens in the hallucinations would manifest in reality...or so it looked like, or I thought. IDK, I had to watch Donnie Darko like 3 times, and talk to my sis who LOVES it, to understand the ending. (sighs) I'll unlock your mysteries yet velodrome...maybe I just need to, OH A PIECE OF CANDY !!

  • this owns existenz by miles.

  • Woah! This is why you NEVER eat the "chili surprise".

  • @Windclaw spaceballs :D

  • pretty awesome effects for its time!

  • Thumbs up if you think there should be a law restricting CGI to matte shots.

  • Ahh! 80s men in makeup and leotards! WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!!!!

  • My God, he's full of General Tso's Chicken!

  • CGI SUCKS LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH !

  • i love orange chickentoo,kelfire23.

  • Did that guy just turn into a living bag of popcorn?

  • James Woods!

  • mmm orange chicken

  • @kelfire23 HAHAHAHA nice

  • ROFL! hAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH wtf?!!! hAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH

  • So he shoots the guy with fast-acting super cancer bullets.

  • Max has killed 3 people now so he would qualify as a serial killer.

  • Anyone else scroll to the bottom so you could only see a bit of the video?

  • @VoiceofCthulhu Only for every glorious second. Only problem is, I'm kind of wondering what the gurgling/screaming noise is.

  • 2:31 :D

  • Look carefully the move the chicks do on stage is 1 to 1 the same move chick does at Jabbas palace in return of the Jedi

  • I'm so lost right now....what is the new flesh. Don't ask me why i only found out this was a title of this movie and the last time i saw it was a couple years ago

  • It's cancer.....

    ZOMBIE CANCER!

  • death to videodrome--LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • huh?

  • Love the way he sticks in the silly dance number for no apparant reason other to make the scene seem more hallucinatory!

  • wat the fuck?

first his hand was mutated then it was normal?

can anyone explain wat in the hell happened here?

  • @nightmare623 The movie is a hallucination, Max pulls out a cancerous gun. Because Cronenberg likes to involve disease and body horror in his movies. It switches from real to hallucination after Max watches Videodrome for the fist time.

  • @nightmare623 his hand isn't actually mutated nor the gun. That is him hallucinating from his brain tumor. He does actually shoot the man dead. But the mutation in his hand and all the tumors coming out of the guy he shoots are all in his head.

  • @mdh2k10

    ohh okay

  • Videodrome is one of the most original movies I have ever seen. It's provocative, surreal and yet very realistic. Even as a kid, when I would be playing a video game and the screen was paused, there was some eerie, creepy feeling that something really scary would pop up after a while, or the wierd feeling that something bizarre was wriggling around in the nooks and crannies of its programming.

Videodrome perfectly exploits and represents this fear of the unknown regarding technology.

  • @Kemonokami Imagine if one of those hopping cyclops heads (called a "mono draw") came out of the NES game Faxanadu?! Or what if it was one of those flying squids? Or one of those gargoyle things with no legs?!

    \8-o

  • @IggyHazard

    Heh...That would be something...

And whaddya know, It's IggyHazard, I know you from DA!

  • @Kemonokami It's a small world after all! \8-D

'Videodrome' has all kinds of inspirado to offer. Maybe I should do a video of me drawing some writhing clown guts or clown tumors with clown heads! XD

  • Vangelis?

  • WHAT THE HELL HAPPEND TO HIS HAND???

  • @Skillside possibly the result of hours of masturbation...

    ...long live the new flesh!

  • @Bl00dShinobi So if you mastrubate like a maniac you grow a pistol from your own flesh??? Ugghhhhh...

  • @Skillside Yep, pretty much!!!

  • @Skillside

It's like the Obliterator Virus from Warhammer 40,000!

  • @Skillside it became a cancerous gun, that shoots out cancer. Watch eXistenZ to see another gun made out of flesh and bones that shoot out teeth for bullets, another Cronenberg movie.

  • That's grim.

  • I'm. So. Bored.

  • Was thet James woods?

  • MORTE A VIDEODROME, GLORIA E VITA ALLA NUOVA CARNE!!!

  • hey whats this movie about? can anyone tell me please? never heard of it. and im a big james woods fan. but havent watched any of his earlier work.

  • @2010thekingofkings it is kinda sorta like the ring. people watch a video tape and it induces a brain tumor that triggers hallucinations. but theres so much more too. very intelligent. highly recommend.

  • that ending is amazing..

    long live the new flesh

  • Hey everybody look it's James Woods! You know there's a high school named after him!

  • wow when was this pice of shit made

  • @TheInerHollow the movie came out in 1982

  • @TheInerHollow Before standards were lowered to your level.

  • @TheInerHollow Please ...this is not a piece of shit. It's obviously your first approach to art cinema. My suggestion...be quiet, watch and give yourself a chance to learn how to appreciate it.

  • I heard the remake of this movie comes out next year.

  • WHAAT...THE....FUCK?!

  • Looks like he became a pile of orange chicken...lol

  • looks more like somebody fucked up a batch of lasagna than a gore scene.

  • its so ridiculous how you can still hear the sound of his agony from the mic as max leaves the scene.

  • makes alien look like a pussy

  • 2:14

  • 2:14

  • and the photography when he's approaching the harbor is gorgeous, damn

  • my favorite scene in the movie. masterfully done, so unnerving

  • tumorlicious dude!

  • looks like general tso's

  • mmmmmmmm.........Meatballs........

  • Hmmm... Dat looks tasty.

  • Wow. Do not eat while watching the last four minutes of this clip. Those things popping out of that guy when he was STILL STRUGGLING made me so sick...

  • I can totally relate to this.

  • such a prophetic film, way predates The Matrix

    or reality TV or Facebook

  • Cronenberg knows what to do with...chicken!

  • David Chronenburg's films are so sick. Awesome scenes in Videodrome, Scanners, and The Fly. True poet of disgust.

  • Someone to care for, to be there for. I have James Woods.

  • "DEATH TO VIDEODROME LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!!!"

Hahahahahahahaha *Imitates Grandmaster from Strider's Evil Laugh*

  • ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿

  • cronenberg vision & howord shore music are the best

  • oh man, the quality of that dude's life is shit now...

  • 2:38

    gold

  • holy shit theres general tso's chicken coming out of that guy

  • W.T.F.I.F.G.O.?

What The Fuck Is Fucking Going On?

  • That should really be the title of every Cronenberg film.

  • Hey you hate new horror films now?

  • What did they use for this effect ? it was so sick like robotic dummy I wish they did that now for horror films.

  • LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!!!!!

  • death to videodrome, long live the new flesh.

    ev01v3.

  • "Someone to do for, muddle through for. You have James Woods."

  • so at some point the hallucination becomes real, doesn't it? for people to be screaming at their hands. unless, they are actually holding guns, but it makes no snes.

  • this movie made no sense to me,so was this stuff really happening?

  • basicly, this guy has a brain turmor, and basicly he is crazy

  • Tumor Gun, now that's creative!

  • why that guy exploded?

  • yeah

  • Haha I remember when I was 8 and I was looking for a cartoon my mum had taped for me, and I came across this the tape had been turned of at 2:35 so I watched just that bit scared the life outta me.

  • he go boom boom

  • You dont see this in movies anymore

  • LIAR! eXisenTs!!!!!!

  • Sexy shit. Long live new flesh.

  • LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!

  • 0.0 what the fucking fuck... O.O

  • D'< ITZ NAWT AH TUMAH

  • I imagine parents showing "Videodrome" to their children and telling them "See? That's what happens when you watch too much TV...".

  • My dad actually did that when I was about ten or so when I kept sneaking out of bed to watch TV. Believe you me I avoided the living room like the plague for a year or so after that.

  • @MontyPython246 Great comment!

  • So dude was just one big giant living breathing walking Tumor???

  • lmao tumor gun XD

  • That was about 5% scary and 95% disgusting.

  • that was gross :-(

  • Did he just shoot him with a tumor gun? Also, wasn't that the gun he absorbed earlier?

  • One Of The Scariest Scenes Ever

  • JAMES WOODS!?! WTF!?! His career certainly got better after his next film "The Killing Fields"

  • I think you might be confuseing TKF with "Salvador".

  • VD dvd videos 1983

  • It's great to see a bastard like Convex get such a painful death!

  • 1983 horror movie

  • tumor gun wow that needs to be a weapon in SSH or an SWEP in garry's mod

  • LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!

  • Who does'nt love that new flesh.

  • long live the new flesh!

  • The Convention was being held in Pittsburgh, but the sign on the boat says "Toronto Harbour Commissioners"

So something odd is going on spatially. I do not think this is an error on Croenburgs part, because the camera stops on the sign for long enough for you to read it. So the discrepency is intentional...but why?

  • Probably the best gore special fx since The Thing

  • Behold the Tumor Gun!!! Cronenberg gets mad props for imagination.

  • I heard the tumors were actually general Gao's chicken.

  • yes, General Tsao, actually, but you are right in principal.

  • Classic movie. This and Scanners had awesome effects for their time.

Heck, there still great till this day!

  • what compells him to go to this boat?

  • New Flesh

  • ok?

  • Long Live The New Flesh! Awesome movie.

  • David Cronenberg is a genius! One of the best directors in psycho-and bio-horror!

  • favorited for 2:40

  • LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!

  • Eww... I was eating a turkey sandwhich when the guy exploded with tumors =P

    I gagged a little......

  • The best part happens at 2:30.

  • what does he say at 2:41 get the videodrome long live the new flesh?

  • death to the videodrome long live the new flesh :-D

  • I wish that when people die, they die like this.

  • eat shit dummy

  • Hahaha. That was pretty freaking awesome.

  • This scene it must to be a classic. I didn´t watch that movie. I knew TCM showed that movie but I couldn´t watch it on Halloween.

    Watch my videos.

  • This has got to be one of the most awesome death scenes ever in the history of all movies...

  • Long live the new flesh.

  • Yeah, the old special effects are so much better than cgi. They are physical props that are crafted well and definitely more realistic. cgi licks balls

  • Ay-men, man. Nothing is more beautiful than something hand-crafted.

  • lol@ 2:40, so gross. Reminds me of that movie 'The Thing'.

  • I am the video word made flesh...

  • Maybe the best gory moment of David Cronenberg's career. It's very gory, but it looks brilliant and beautiful. Kudos to Rick Baker for designing such a horrifically bloody visual feast!! :D

  • Shit thats some hardcore fuckin shit

  • Hay, I just noticed where Barry says "You know me, and I sure know you. Ha ha, EVERYONE!" is in a Front 242 song!

  • that was some sick shit, and i loved it haha, that 80s feel in horror cinema is something we will never get back i dont think, the older "outdated" effects (which i prefer, i hate cgi f/x), the music, the sets.. classic stuff really

  • I'll take the hands-on mechanical puppetry and latex make-up fx over present-day cgi geekdom anyday.

  • Agreed! I mean sure one of the reason used for CGI is cause it costs less, but I say before CG, these effects were state of the art and really showcased the director's & SFX departments real talent.

  • Totally agree - in this case the work of Rick Baker, who won an oscar for his make-up and transformation effects for An American Werewolf in London in the same year. Sadly, CGI is putting some real FX legends out of business.

  • Ya, CGI stuff is cheap and looks slick, but old school make-up, gore and prosthetics are way more realistic, gross and gritty. A well used effect like this can make up for 10 crappy CGI shots. This stuff is costly and labour intensive to make, so filmmakers have to really think out what they want to do ahead of time. All this planning makes for a more impactful scene.

  • @HaroldPlatypus I TOOOTTALLY agree! I wish they made a law for CGI to be used only in far shots.

  • @HaroldPlatypus Depends on the shot really, a lot of the time CGI is more expensive. Just look at the scene from Escape from New York where he flies through the city and the computer displays a green skeleton of the buildings. Sure you could blow all your money to render New York City in black and green, or you could do what they did and spend $200 on glow in the dark tape, put it on a model of the city, and turn off the lights. The only reason CGI is popular is because it's easy not cheap.

  • Call me crazy, but I suspect Videodrome and the New Fleash are the same thing.
