  • aretha is the last one left all the rest have died

  • Yes. All of Aretha brothers and sister have died. She the only sibling left............ashame isn't it

  • Aretha has one sister left. She is the daughter of Cl Franklin and she lives in Memphis.

  • True dat, she is a half sister; diffrerent Mom than Re, Cecil, Carolyn, & Erma.

  • Erma was a great singer. My heart broke when I learned of her death. Thanks for this.

  • Erma and Aretha do sound alike on some of the high notes....after all they "are" sisters...lol I love this video more and more every time I visit this page, thanks Ian for posting

  • She looks just like Aretha!

  • Peace erma we miss you!

  • that is so sad :( didnt like all of aretha franklin's siblings die? correct me if im wrong.

  • Yeah you are right. It is sad. At least she has her niece(s) and Nephew(s).

  • She looks way better ha er sister Aretha, but voclly she is not Artha, but their voices sound similar on high notes, not on medium or low!

  • At least she can still sing the same songs that she sung in the 1960s on pitch, unlike Aretha.

  • Well you all seem to be overlooking the fact that she passed away soon after filming this.

  • what did she die of? i didn't know she's passed on...

  • Cancer, shame with herb younger sister Carolyn Frankiln but she passed away back in 1980

  • I totally agree, at least this is not in the same league as the normal Aretha franklin Scream-Fest that has become commonplace over the last 10 or 15 years, which Aretha and a lot of the new singers have come to embrace. This is a very refreshing change.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Your right, I'm confused. Sissy Houston was one on the Sweet Inspriations. They did sometimes sing backup for Areatha.

  • Erma and Carolyn Franklin were known as the Sweet Inspirations that sang backup on many of Areatha's great songs.

  • No they weren't. The Sweet Inspirations were a separate self contained group.

  • They were the Franklin sisters and a veryyyy famous gospel group that sang for their dad Rev. C.L. Franklin

  • yea that's how we do it in the delta go home girl

  • good :]

  • she is dope too

  • Ummm.. I didnt even know Aretha had sisters thats sang.. She is OFF THE CHAINS SON... WET!!!!

  • A great deal of attention was given to the sisters of Aretha Franklin after she was crowned 'Queen of Soul'. There was a mad dash to get other ladies that could sing soul. Then it was discovered Aretha had TWO SINGING SISTERS! Erma Franklin & Carolyn Franklin. I loved all three -- this family was blessed.

  • Wait a minute. Now i get an idea how hard the music industry is. If this kind of talent has been out there all this time, yet i hadn't heard it. Either people didn't promote properly or some other reason. This is a great song proformed by a very talented singer. I am so glad this avenue has opened up to us. So we can finally hear, what we're been missing. Thank you for this

  • IAN lEVINE - Your`e priceless...I don`t mean something by it..I just think your`e an unknown quantity on the Northern Scene.or are you ...somehow your`e sexy in the way you like Northern Soul ,you don`t get a mention in the Northern Soul scene, and yet your`e the most Influencial promoter of Northern Soul Artistes,seeing..Northern Soul Artistees`t.

I feel the same, but you have made 70`s 80`s records bought in the Wigan Casino.

  • Miss Erma Franklin seemed like such a classy woman, really.

That blue zig zag dress I saw on two occasions--the BET Tribute to Aretha Franklin and the UNCF Tribute to Aretha Franklin--donned by Erma Jr. was it?

    Quite a statement.

    I really like this video.

  • THANKS SINCERELY.

  • I love this. Thanks for sharing....

  • Wonderful archive recording - thank you!

  • Never heard this, always was curiuos to see + her. This was great, Aretha Franklin's sisters stuff. This is a great production + This Lady could sing too, originally fromm Detroit here + always heard about The Franklin Family

  • Damn, i would've 'married' into a helluva family. lol

Aretha was my woman in a past life, you know. hehehe.

If only Erma had her very own Jerry Wexler, just imagine...wooooo!!! Jazz may've been her bag, so only if she had her own John Hammond. Either way, I shouldn't have to go searching in the back of some old record shop for this kind of greatness. I gotta check Erma out a little more from now on. thanx for the clip. Now, all we need is some Carolyn and we can sing: 'we are family'.

  • This song is as good as it gets. Erma Franklin is superb.

  • out of this world mind blowing thanks there is a god.

  • Thanks for this video. Miss Erma Franklin was a great lady that I've missed. Wonderful to have a video on her own. Five Stars.

  • Erma Franklin was a very soulful singer. I would of loved to see Erma, Carolyn, and Aretha do a project together. Of course this is only a dream, since Erma and Carolyn are both deceased. I have a couple of cds by Erma. One is called Super Soul Sister on Vampi Soul. The other is Erma Franklin&Lavern Baker on Edsel. You can also find her on quite a few compliation cds.

  • are you sure erma is dead? i don't think so.

  • You may not THINK so, But I know so, She died September 7th 2002!!!

  • I'm very sure Erma is dead. She died in 2002 from cancer.

  • Where would we be without black music, the most uplifting brightening songs that lifts antime.

    thank you

  • You're right, laron... a voice like that deserves an eternity...!

  • ur 'piece' sorry!

  • excellent a real peace of history, brillient!!
