I've notice with regards to US Thanksgiving vs. Christmas, I've noticed that Christmas gets the Diana Ross treatment while Thanksgiving is sort of the Florence Ballard of holidays. Thanksgiving gets shoved to the background except only on the day itself, and even on that day there's lots of Christmas stuff in it, and Christmas gets more and more as Thanksgiving approaches, much how Diana kept getting brighter in the spotlight. Keep that analogy in mind.
