I never heard of this cartoon but I have to say I'm dissapointed I never watched this when I was a kid...I love the animation in this...ohno looks soooo cute!
I don't fucking believe this!!!!! Mighty Orbots, The best Saturday morning cartoon of the 80's, Imiss this shit. Man, i was about 9 when this came out, I was really upset when it got cancelled. It's a ashamed not too many people remember orbots, this was the shit!!
tidbit: Mighty Orbots was canceled by ABC because Tonka sued the producers(Fred Silverman TMS and MGM)It could have had a good run. even elitist cartoon critics today give this show high marks.
This is one of my Favorite Orbots episodes back when
I saw this at age 20 with my nephew who was almost
five at the time, I liked the way Rob and Ono play off on each other, even from the very first episode. Though I don't think Rob is predijuiced against Robots, he just forgets the ones HE created have feelings sometimes.
If you're at all interested in Facebook, there's a group on Facebook just for you and me and others who think that way. It's called something like, "Cartoons today suck,I'm raising my kids on Transformers and Thundercats". I'm not sure if I got it exactly right because it had a loooong title but it was something like that. :)
"Cartoons today suck,I'm raising my kids on Transformers and Thundercats". I'd go halfway on that If the're referring to All cartoons I'd disagree (there are some gems in the ash heap incl. a lot of the 3d Pixar and dreamworks movies) if your talking about stuff like Naruto I'm with them 100% Transformers, Thundercats and Orbots all the way!
Ya know, I recognize Dia's voice! That's Jennifer Darling, who's best known for playing Erma in TMNT's 80s incarnation as well as Ayaka in Tenchi Muyo!. :) How cool to recognize a good ol' fashioned VA. ^_^
And if you've ever wanted to see what she looks like in real life (or, at least, as she did in the 70's), try a few episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man or The Bionic Woman. Jennifer Darling played Peggy Callaun on several episodes of both shows.
Yep, I was hooked on this show too. I guess I was about 10 when it was on. I remember this one. Isn't it amazing how the orbots are able to change the Human Ono back into a robot Ono with exactly the same functions and features that she had before? I'd like to see them try that on Rob ;) If he's so willing to tell Ono to switch back to being a robot, maybe he doesn't fully appreciate what it is to be human.
As Bo said (I know, Boo's lips are moving, but it's Bo's voice, so...), "You can't activate Mighty Orbots unless you're an Orbot!" Without Oh-No being an Orbot, there is NO Mighty Orbots. Had the situation not been what it was, Rob would probably just took her home and build another Oh-No to be MO's key, making the first one his human daughter.
I quite like this. While the whole 'combining robots' concept is nothing new (but still cool), the characters are more believable to a degree. Whether he means it or not, Rob is a slacker and prejudice to robots, Bort was whiny and paranoid, Bo was cold and insensitive, and let's face it, none of the Orbots were particularly clever. This show stood out because of the more diverse range of feelings seen in the case.
I don;t think so. I just think they recycled stuff they had lying aroung. That's how Zillion wa created, by Tatsunoko recycling stuff from abandoned projects(ie The Sentinels.)
Not a sequel really. TMS didn't do all the episodes of Galaxy Rangers, they shared animation responsibilities with A.I.C. another anime house. TMS however was a studio that was very in demand for alot of cartoons in the 80's. They also did Galaxy High and Bionic Six.
07:17 Oh no! Now she looks like....little Shirley Temple!

I just noticed that some of the ship designs from this show were used in Galaxy Rangers(Also done by TMS.) Coincidence?

I disagree. The narration was hilarious during the show at times. I'm just glad they didn't take the show to seriously.
SzinDragon 5 years ago
It would be better if they only used the narration in the begining and ending and exclude it from the rest of the scenes.
