  • ...simplified answers which are unit fractions have a special appeal and efficient austerity.

  • YOU LOOK LIKE BLAKE GRIFFIN. LOL.

  • 2 minute vid - 1 hour 30 minute lecture

  • Can I get a pass to the br?

  • make more vids

  • kaw na!! xD haha ur video is always aweesommeee!!!

its helping me again for my exam tomorrow xD

  • Khan Academy FTW!

  • I kind of wish you would of went through every step. x.x

  • you should replace my teacher :(

  • you know, this made sense, i loved it, i went back to my hw, looked at it.....rage quit.

  • Hey he's cute and smart ;o

  • this video helped a lot thnks!

  • This video is very hard to masturbate to...

  • he sort of looks like freddie from icarly :)

  • awesome lesson! :P

You made me understand it very quickly where as my algebra book made it seemed way more complicated -_-

  • when he factored it out he basically did a reverse foil of it, so if you foiled what he broke it down to it would be x(squared)-2x-10x+20. coming together as x(squared)-12x+20

  • lol im kinda slow in math there .. howd he get 10???

  • @sweetsalvy94 he factored

  • this one minute taught me more than 40 minutes in school

  • I think I learn more here than i do in math....

  • i dont under stant me fuking techer his chines

  • @rubberduck182 I dunt undurrstend yer phackin inglisheuh. And I'm pretty sure he's not Chinese. And more caucasian.

  • His enthusiasm is just overwhelming.

  • @NovaNation1212 Yeah it is, i only fell asleep once!!!

  • you make it sound so easy -.-

  • THANK YOU! Test tomorrow, and my teacher is absolutely horrid! I learned more in this video about complex fractions then anything he ever taught

  • polo ralph swagga:)

  • Wtf did he just say?

  • DAYUMM!!!! thats how u do a fraction. BITCH!

  • Wow! now I understand! I don't need to enter the classroom just to study these lessons. There's youtube to help me in my studies. Anyway, good job! You've helped me a lot. :)

  • Nice Finish.

  • SAVED MY LIFE ;___;

  • whay x squared?

  • thank you!

  • nice enthusiasm right there

  • i didnt get it HELP

  • TOO MANY NUMBERS!! AGHHHH! TOO MANY NUMBERS!!!!!

  • Why can't all teachers be as good as you?

  • i fucking love you in the most heterosexual way possible

  • this doesnt help me when its 3/x+1 / 5/x=1

  • what happens to the -12x at the end?

  • @aaronL83 He factors x^2 - 12x + 20

So it comes out as: (x-12)(x-2)

  • @skychy no... he factors it to (x-10)(x-2)

  • hahaha nerd

  • these are simple problems do a difficult example

  • Blehhhh I don't understand lol. When will I use this in life? :P

  • thank you; this just helped me solve a problem I was struggling with.

  • I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let people know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.

Type ( Mathmatchpoint ) in the search bar

Math will become easy to understand

  • screw that shit! i rather just fail the problem.

  • i love this guy and hate my mathbook haha

  • damn, i am really a moron... i don't understand mathematics....

  • @etikey lol

  • my teacher suxx all she does is come into class.and sit down while she tries to explain smh...thxxxx much(Y)

  • THIS GUY IS A BOSSSSSS

  • Here is an example of system of fractions:

    1/2x - 2/3y = 7

    2/3x - 3/4y = 11

It says to multiply the first equation by 6 and the second equation by 12

But I'm not sure how to multiply the equation can anyone help me? :(

  • @elgrandesnipe hello there....so the first equation if multiplied by 6 would become 3x - 4y = 22....and the second equation would become 8x - 9y = 132.....Now u can think of this in a couple of ways.....(1.) multiply each numerator(top # in fraction) by 6 for the first problem and then reduce the fraction and make sure to multiply the whole number by 6 also in this case 7. (2.) my favorite method =)..continued on other comment...i ran outta room ;(

  • @3000Johnnyboy (2.) well look at the first problem for this example....you look at what the denominator is missing to equal the term you want to multiply by: so in simpler terms looking at the first term 1/2x notice the denominator is 2 and the term we want to multiply by is 6. so what times 2=6. its simply 3, 2x3=6. so since we found our missing # is 3 all we do is multiply the top by 3. which becomes 3x and the denominator is now gone.

  • @3000Johnnyboy looking at the second term which is 2/3x using the same method....what times 3=6....and the answer is obviously 2....so our missing number for the second term is 2...now just multiply the top by 2 and we get 2 times 2y=4y...and again the denominator is gone....it also works for the last # which is 7...since 7 has no denominator we just multiply it by the whole number which is 6....so 6 times 7 = 42.....SORRY JUST REALIZED IN FIRST COMMENT THERE IS AN ERROR.....ITS NOT 22 ITS 42 =)

  • lolwut just happened

  • Comment removed

  • u should come teach my math class

  • thanks a bunch ur awsome

  • most of it was helpful but i lol'd at the part where he had to explain that when the numerator is gone its one i was like is anyone past 5th grade not gonna know that? it is good that they cover all their bases though

  • this helped a little bit i still hate them and still gonna fail my midterm. o well

  • pretty good tho

  • pretty helpful

  • kinda helpful

  • this isn't a complex fraction surely a complex fraction would be something like

    (a+bi)/(c+di)

this is just a tricky fraction

  • @billydai this is a complex fraction. the definition of a complex fraction is when theres a fraction or fractions divided by other fractions or a fraction. (a+bi)/(c+di) would just be a normal fraction.

  • @billydai , you are correct. The fractions he's talking about is called polynomial fractions and not complex fractions, which they are not the same thing. Check out my channel page which I have a video for solving linear fractional polynomial equation.

  • thanks this helps, not exactly what i was looking for though

  • I understand it alot better in this short time than the whole time I was drooling in a school.. and this is only a sample video I guess, go and sign up on their site if you actually want it or try another service

  • I DONT GET IT!!! I GO TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL AND I FAILED MATH LAST YR AND IM ON THE SAME PATH THIS YR!!!! AHHHH!!!

  • @sicilianpride99 Wow;D

  • Good Video

  • hes not fucking explaining it UGHHH

  • 9 people are just retarted

  • HEY WHERE DID YOU GET (X2)???

  • @WeNlu973 common denominator

  • omg i dont get it :(

  • this is sooooo much simpler then how my teacher explained it!!

  • dude you helped me alot. compared to my teacher to u, why did my teacher get that job anyways

  • Anyone who dislikes this video is either a troll or a math teacher that's angry because he/she can't teach complex fractions very well.

  • i go hard in da muthafuccin paint ni66a haha

  • Can someone explain me how that denominator is factoring because i dont understand that part.

  • @Ripas55 You need two numbers that multiply to C (20) and add up to the middle number B (-12) and you split the x. The two numbers that do this are -10 and -2. So you write (x-10)(x-2). If you use the FOIL method (First Outer Inner Last) to multiply back out you will get the original.

  • @Ripas55 It's a quadratic, look up "factoring quadratics" to figure it out

  • Comment removed

  • i really hate math it really makes my brain malfunction

  • Thanks for nothing, Why couldnt anyone tell me this befor.. Im about to flunk out my school cause of this BS.. Its rediculous. I figured out why people are living homeless with nowere to go.. I blame it on Algebra..

  • @XBxUxTxCxHxExRX

    "thanks for nothing"?

  • @cocowut im just mad lol

  • @XBxUxTxCxHxExRX I bet you're also about to flunk out of school due to rediculous (ridiculous) and nowere (nowhere).

  • @pty1717 Oh no, the Youtube Houds are attacking my grammer again.. Ahhahahaha Get the fuck outa here. ill spell however the hell i want. Mock me. See if i give a shit you lil prik HAhaahaaa

  • @XBxUxTxCxHxExRX Haha you care enough to comment back.

What the fuck are houds? ;)

  • I still don't get anything..... ):

  • Sir,

    you SAVED MY LIFE

I am infinitely indebted to you...

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I feel silly to say this, but I am currently a senior in college going for my BSEE and I finally got the process of how to do this! I was always making it way harder than it had to be. TYVM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tnx.. this really helps a lot...

  • He's a Mathematician!!

  • Im hopeless, all these numbers look like a never ending maze to me..

  • see why cant teachers explain stuff evry night i have to watch these vids

  • how do you solve a fraction with and without cancellation? please reply...

  • i need more examples/.. i get this one but i have harder problems..

  • I like how he looks at the camera everytime he's done explaining like... yeah bitch... Im the shit.

  • holy cow thank you for this video so much haha. you just gave me an extra couple of hours of sleep instead of me staying up all night on these stupid fractions

  • Hey guys, why the need for such foul language? There's other more respectful ways to communicate ...

  • Can someone tell me pronto why the common denominator is x^2?

  • You do you know the common denominator is x^2?

  • thank you u should be my teacher. r u single? idk if i see a ring?

  • Really clear for a youtube tutorial. My maths teacher decided that he didn't want to come in for half the year so i don't know half the stuff on my test :(

  • i am impressed. you fit 90 minutes of my math class into 90 seconds and i actually got it this time.

  • @burnttoast375

i hate when teachers do that!!!

  • wow this saved my ass my math teacher has an acsent so you cant realy understand him so this saved my.......and daaaaaaaammm he made it look easy

  • robot man X3

  • wow! u made this so easy thank u!!!!

  • wtf pro

  • I Absolutely Hate MATH! But; I Must Learn Advanced Math Or I Won'T Be Successful In My Current Persuit!

  • @knifeweaver

...work on spelling while your at it..."Persuit"....fail.

  • @ComeHonourFace101 You should also work on your spelling also.... "your".... fail, it's you're.....

  • @jbball50 O SHIT ITS THE GRAMER POLESE!!!!!!! RUNNNNNNN

  • @ComeHonourFace101 Awww must be mad because he tried insulting someone about grammar then couldn't spell correctly himself.

  • thank you for saving my math grade

  • I love you.

  • if only you were a teacher at the college im at i'd certainly do good in that class.

too bad my teacher only gives us a page to do and then falls asleep in the chair.

  • Thank you! I remembered how 2 do this but then i forgot.

  • Nice job, helped me review for school

  • Great job on the explanation.

  • Oh Snap, I understand it!

  • its funny iwatched this video yesterday and im soooo confused on my homework. its like i just forget everything and i have a HUE 2 chapter quiz tomorrow on stuff.

  • where did he get the (x-10)(x-2) from?

i mean i know it was from x^2-12x+20, but how?

  • he factored x^2-12x+20..

to check, use the FOIL method..

  • i know u posted this a month ago but hope it helps. (x-10)(x-2) you need to multiply everything in the first bracket by everything in the second bracket:

    multiply the x in first bracket by x in second bracket x . x = x^2

    Now multiply the x in first bracket by -2 in second bracket x . -2 = -2x

    Now multiply the -10 in first bracket by x in second bracket -10 . x = -10x

    Now multiply the -10 in first bracket by -2 in second bracket -10 . -2 = +20

    so x^2 - 2 -10x +20 = x^2-12x+20

  • hes not explaining enough it seems like :/

  • FAILLIN AGAIN..

  • easy

  • im still lost D:

    im just too dumb :(

  • nah... don't feel bad I'm still having trouble with this too... hehe

  • mr.diaz sucks at teching math!!!!!

  • thank you for posting this because my teacher sucks ass

  • @tsw44 Yea!

  • @tsw44 you havn't seen mine yet !!

  • @tsw44 LOL thats wat i was thinking XD

  • @tsw44 LOL i know how you feel.

  • good example

  • im so lost

i dont follow any of this lol i suck at maths

  • me to a aing ma test yahoooo
