Vista SP2 FTW!!
Got windows 7 now anyways, but Vista was fine and booted up very fast on the same comp (Core 2 Duo 7350 though)

Go onto to google , type in Xp on inspiron 1520 there should be a guide their , it is easy to do if you follow the steps , as i have done this on my dell inspiron 1520 and it works on xp now , good luck

Cool, i have the Inspiron 1501 model, Great laptop but do not get vista basic! or AMD sempron it's slow on startup, so i might get xp Professional :)

Vista is great if you can get programs for it and do some "home patching" >_>.....eh anyway. XP is better if your wanting to play the safe side but if you can get the specs right and everything for VISTA then it owns. Also, 4gigs of ram is the vista sweet spot :P. Just want to point that out.

Prácticamente recién formateado (luego de quitar Vista), luego de instalar millones de actualizaciones, no me espero que encienda más rápido si el equipo está configurando drivers, entre otros. El equipo en si enciende mucho más rápido que esto.
Mi proce es un Intel Core 2 Duo (T5250) 2MB L2 Caché, y 2GB DDR2 de RAM, entro otros.. y AMD en lo personal no me gusta para nada. :D
PD: El fin de esto en todo caso es el Windows XP en un Inspiron 1520.

uff cuanto tiene de memoria y procesador
demora una eternidad en cargar windows.
te recomiendo una cpu AMD.
y una memoria de 1GB DD2
