  • Never expected a response, so I am thankful! Is there an inexpensive model at GE or elsewhere? I need one urgently that records BOTH sides of a telephonic conversation. Thanks again,

    Gus

I'm not sure if you can even buy these anymore but if you have an older phone one with a handset with no keypad you can get a device that hooks between the handset and phone and it records everything to a standard tape. There are other more expensive devices that simply hook to the phone line. I have a mini recorder that can record cell phone calls but I just use it as a cheapo recorder and I convert songs to play on it.

  • I have a similar "Auto-logic" answering machine. Can I record my telephone conversation (both ways) on the cassette? IE, can I record my conversations?

    Thank you,

  • @yelrihs021

I don't think this model has that feature but I had a GE one a long time ago that did have a phone record feature. I think it records both sides.

  • I certainly like the old analogs better... many more pluses with it. Digital phones get full after 20 or so messages. Analog is much simpler: just stick in a 120 min tape and it goes on till the tape ends; easier to record your own outgoing message; and you can keep archives of all your messages (if you choose), since it's on cassette. Luckily I still have a large supply of blank cassettes. So what if you have to rewind and forward...I miss it! Some retro still has a place on my table!

My dad had an analog 2 tape GE answering machine and my favorite thing that i just loved about it is that it has full playback including rew and FF so I could play back any tape including albums on tape which was really cool. the problem is that the audio was lower on playback of music tapes than that of recorded messages.

  • I still use one of those and Its still going strong on the origianl tape.

  • nice these old units are built to last and they sound better than the new digital ones but the newest digital ones dont sound too bad. they need to use a music codec to encode the voice and not a wobbly crappy narrow band voice only codec.

  • cool cassette machine i just got one my self mine is the kt x-1470 and it even has a voice drivin menu. i'll make video of it sometime. It wokrs quite well. Its also fast reacting and rewinds quite fast and it doesnt have endless loop on the out going it takes 2 regular cassettes on each side.

  • hi where did you get this easa phone, i have been looking all over. ebay did not have it either. please help. ranji

  • That's a nice machine, and seems to have good quality! Ours is similar, but the cassettes and one on top and the other under instead of side-to-side like yours.

  • it sounds ok but I wish it sounded crystal clear like more treble, i cant figure out a way to make it sound clearer ive even opened this unit up and i couldnt figure anything out as in an adjustment on the mainboard for turnin up the treble

  • I doubt it has an adjustment for that. Being an answering machine for voice and telephone, it's probably DC bias, too. I never saw an AC bias one before, in my experience, all the answering machines I ever had were DC bias.

  • that ok then i have better things for playing ipods thru, like my iHome2go, my hacked fone free speaker, and my ipod speakers, actually i have a fone free anywhere speakerphone for a cell phone and the same thing happens the treble is knocked off a little but the one i hacked is crystal clear, as for the DC bias you are prob right b/c it uses a 12 volt DC adaptor to power it i think if it was AC bias it would say prob AC 12 volts or would plug straight into the wall, i dunno

  • Demagnetize and clean the heads.
